Please make sure that you’re using the latest version of the theme available on themeforest, V2.3.5 and also the version of Visual Composer included in its path: V 4.9

The import function won’t work properly from Newspaper to Newsmag because the selectors are different from one theme to another. For example if in Newspaper theme you have a background color set for main menu by importing the style in Newsmag this option won’t work. Some of the options will e recognized bot some will not be because of the difference between the css selectors.

The pages built with Visual Composer will be recognized by Newsmag theme as the shortcodes are the same. It won’t be recognized for example a block 18 because in Newsmag theme this block does not exist, but the commune elements will be recognized fine.
Also you will have to regenerate all thumbnails as Newsmag uses different sizes then Newspaper: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/

Before making any changes make sure you do a full backup to your current wp-install and the database also: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups This is a security measure, in case something goes wrong you can always get back to the previous version.

The theme has been developed to be fast but it may still need configurations on this matters so test your site using google’s page speed insights testing tool(or gtmetrix) and make sure you follow the guide instructions and methods then test your site again.
First of all deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches then test your site page-speed again. If it helps I’ve used AdRotate free or PRO since getting the theme and its faultless with it – I ise a mix of tagdiv ad blocks via VC and Theme Panel – and sidebar boxes via AdRotate widgets either ‘Single’ or ‘Group’ which allows rotation – free version is well supported – PRO gives stats for clients etc etc

Or, to clarify – some things which hook into the post content, such as some author box plugins, or related post plugins, which hook onto end of the content block *will* show up in AMP automatically.

Be careful of paragraph alignment tags which WP stupidly still uses for old browsers and should have been changed to alignment classes at least 2 years ago. SO, centered paragraph tags and such will have to be search/replaced. Luckily images use an alignment tag properly when placed via the post insert media setting.

Very old non https YouTube/Vimeo links will need updating from http to https…

etc.

I also have two seperate issues:

1) The big grid still has the green tint. There should CSS that avoids this but it seems to have cancelled itself.

2) This has also affected the module hover. The block title disappears when you hover.

It would be fantastic if you could have a look at why this is happening.

Also note if you add a comment form that uses a reply-to submitter plugin, it’s not advisable to send back automated reply, as this can be used for spam, in order to have one person pretend to be somebody else and put spam in the form, which then gets sent to the third person as a auto-reply from your form, and then you get spam blocked.

So, good to research that a bit to fully understand the implications.

So what do your error logs say?

Server out of memory, CPU overloaded ?

Try further optimizations that can overload site
a) disable all pings/ XML-RPC
b) disable visual composer, and use the SHIM plugin from Radu (see my optimization thread and archives); disable loading VC on post pages
c) make sure you have plenty of RAM allocated to WP (e.g., big site, 256M vs 40M makes huge diff)
d) make sure you have system in place to stop overloads from bots, like the limit login attempts plugin that blocks IPs from bots trying to guess password for admin
e) [ etc ]

Hi, thanks for your reply. I’m sure I have the right settings and that there are posts assigned to the category I’m choosing to display in the block. That is the problem. With everything set appropriately, it’s still not working. Any other thoughts? Would you like the WP login so you can see the issue?
