Hi, no longer updating this thread, as I’m now moving to testing optimizations utilizing

a) php 7 with enhancements for code and opcache, even better than php 5.6 (5.4 is a DOG!).
b) https + http/2

We have dedicated server, so a bit different approach than many others here. We do not use CDN as not secure (e.g., Cloudflare), or not any faster for our U.S. client/audience due to our server in Class A datacenter in Texas.

Hello newbietamvan,

I have inspected your website and I saw that you have some errors in your console and also, you are using some untested plugins which can interact with the theme core files and cause a lot of unknown issues. Please try to disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN system and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, if the problem is still there, please try to make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and check the results.

Thanks for the message!

Hello,

This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

Good day.

Kindly see chat below which I had with support at MAXCDN.

TO summarise:

“Hi Etienne, I’ve used CDN rewrite for CDN integration, however, when I initially configured the issue was still there
but, i tried to exclude all css files from it and it appears that it is working now
so it’s definitely some of the core theme css files that is conflicting with CDN URL’s (external URL’s)
I am not sure which one since this requires further debugging by testing every css file on your theme when CDN is enabled
if you don’t mind, you can contact your theme devloper about this

but note that CDN is still enabled and all other files including js and images are being served from the CDN

Kind regards, Etienne

Original chat:

Etienne:

Good day.
We have updated our theme files: https://themeforest.net/item/newsmag-news-magazine-newspaper/9512331
We have updated here on our staging site. You can see the nav issues at the top as well as the padding issues in the body: http://staging.adworld.ie/
username:adwrld
passw:adwrld
Current live site to use for comparison. This is still running old theme files and works fine: http://www.adworld.ie/
We have determined that this issue only happens when we enable the CDN > MAXCDN option on the W3 total cache plugin. When we disable it it works fine. We have tried to enable it and clearing all caches to no avail.
So in short – W3 total cache with CDN enabled breaks our site with our new theme files – it was fine with the old files.
Have you come across an issue like this before?
Kind regards;
Etienne

Ivan:

Hi Etienne and thanks for reaching out. Are you by any chance using minify or some other sort of backend caching on your origin? From what I can see there are no errors on CDN files themselves, but the theme has some issues with its styles, so I would recommend disabling all caching/minify options in W3TC and leaving CDN option enabled only.

Let me know if this works for you.

Ivan

Etienne:

Hi – thank you – gonna try that now
Hi there – I had a look and already the minify option is disabled on W3TC. The tick box is not ticked. Very strange. The only option that makes the theme files work correctly is if I disable cdn. Would you perhaps want to have a look in my wp backend?

Ivan:

Sure, that would be great if you could provide me with access credentials
great – thanks
http://staging.adworld.ie/wp-admin

Ivan:

Do I have your permission to temporary disable W3TC and try with some other plugin instead?

it will be just for debugging purposes

Etienne:

hi – sure – no problem
I do have a backup of the files etc.
As long as it’s for debug – unfortunately we do require this plugin as you know
Thank you

Ivan:

Hi,
Sorry but we do not work on weekends. The support hours are posted in the top right corner of this page.
You seem to be using plugins to show your images and the lighbox also seems to be pulling images from another element below. It seems to be the video which is not supposed to. Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. when using untested plugins, lots of things could not work as they are expected to. Sorry but premium themes are not compatible with all plugins.
Thank you!

Good day. Thank you for your reply.

We have done some investigation – firstly we ensured that all theme files and plugins are updated.

We discovered that when we disable the “CDN” option in the “W3 Total Cache” plugin that the theme worked perfectly. As we require this plugin, we have tried to enable it and clear all caches etc. to no avail.

Have you come across this issue before, and if so, would you kindly be able to advise?

Thank you!

Hi,

It is recommended to use the WP Super Cache plugin – https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ along with the theme because this is tested and should work properly. And the same for Cloudflare – https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/ For the WP Total Cache problems or issues you could search the forum, and see what problems other users are facing when using it and in what situations, since it could not be the same for every setup, and we did not test this plugin with the theme to say for sure what problems you might be facing.

Thanks

Hello,

The whatsapp button will share your post on your whatsapp from your mobile phone. The button works fine. You may have a plugin conflicting with it. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then test your site again.

Hello,

Our theme is compatible with all major browsers as it can be seen on the envato page in the right side: https://www.screencast.com/t/UY8iFvv97
You have errors on your site and that is why it does not display the way it should.
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

Hello somnath.deoghriya,

Please notice that all the banners which you want to add on the mobile theme have to be added here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/GPxGJ1l7 Clear all your caches, purge CDN files and check the results.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

It seems the layout of the theme is broken, you should try to disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear your cache and purge cdn files. Also check any custom code you may have entered in theme panel or added to the theme files. But if nothing works you could do a fresh install using one of the two methods – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and using only the recommended plugins.

Thanks

Hello there,

I’ve found several threads about WP Total Cache that have some known issues with the theme.
If you don’t mind, could you please let me know a few of them or just one major problem?

Don’t get me wrong, WP Super Cache works fine on my site.
But I’m planning to use MaxCDN and which is good to go with WP Total Cache.

I know, theme recommended CloudFlare and I’m using it currently, but I’m not happy with Cloudflare.

Best,
Zen

Hi,

It seems that you have deeply customized the theme and there is no quick solution for this. There are custom settings set on some of the elements of the theme, and custom classes – https://www.screencast.com/t/ZYTUfI1Ctnv You must go over and check these customizations, where you have made them (theme panel or in the theme files) Or if you did not make those changes maybe a plugin could be the cause, so please try to disable all the plugins except Visual composer and the mobile theme, clear cache, purge cdn files and see if the problem is still there. A new theme install should fix this also, just delete the theme and install it again only using the required plugins that come bundled with the theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Thanks

Hi,

This could be caused by a plugin or plugin conflict, so try as a test to disable all the plugins except Visual composer, clear your cache and purge cdn files, then check to see if the search is working. If the problem is not there anymore, enable the plugins one at a time to identify the one that is most likely causing this issue.

Thanks

Hi,

It seems you do not have enough posts to populate more articles. Please make sure you filter the block so it has posts to load. Are you sure the filtering you use on your block provides more than the 10 posts shown now?
If this is not the case please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

hello,

Please switch to a wp default theme to see if the issue is still present. Our theme does not impact the content that can or cannot be inserted into a post. It could also be plugin related so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hello _pages,

I have inspected your screenshots, and I noticed that you are not right to use the theme layout with Visual Composer. You should look at this screen like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/8c1MIr2Y Also, for more information about how to use Visual Composer, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-use-visual-composer/ Make these changes, clear all your caches, purge all CDN files if you are using the CDN system and check the results.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello Amanda_AFS,

Usually, this kind of error appears when using CDN or loading fonts from a different source. Please try to use this solution and take a look at this: http://screencast.com/t/AMjW530CSH6 and this: http://screencast.com/t/dLjEUGGwQUZ
The solution to this issue is simple. You will need to add some code to your .htaccess file like this post suggests: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/strange-chinese-symbols-replaced-icons-and-arrows/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hi Simon C.,

it was indeed the cache of my CDN wich, after cleared, displayed the current CSS.
The fix of the “half” compressed CSS is a plus. Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Please check the status of your speed booster plugin – https://www.screencast.com/t/ty1sRky6 Please note that speed booster is an optional plugin, and only works with the tested plugins. If you have other plugins installed it will be disabled. Please follow this work around method provided here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/speed-booster-not-compatible-with-vaultpress/ to make it work with other plugins. After these changes check to see if speed booster is active in theme system status, clear your cache, purge cdn files and test the site again. Also take in account that some plugins can have a negative impact on page speed, so try to use as few as possible, or uninstall the unnecessary ones. Here you can see how some of your plugins and ads are affecting page speed – https://www.screencast.com/t/uVNcHZlstdKp delaying the loading of the site.

Thanks

Hello Elevas32,

Regarding on your first problem, if you want to hide the date for modules and post pages, you can do this from Theme panel, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Z2Bj7FP5XQ0y -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Z2Bj7FP5XQ0y
Please check the following topic here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-make-this/ and try to implement the last modified date as my explanation.
After each change, you should clear all your caches, purge all CDN files if you are using the CDN system and check the results. It will take a while until the Google will index the page because it is not a live effect.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,

We have investigated this further and found that the thumbnails will remain on http on the old videos you already had set up before moving to https. If you create a new playlist with other videos, the thumbs will be grabbed with https. The thumbs will not refresh it seems when deleting and re-creating the element. The thumbs will be kept in the database and will not make another request to grab the same thumb again. So the issue will only affect your existing plyalist. If you create a new one with different videos, they will be grabbed over https. In order to fix the current video thumbs you will have to first make a database back-up as you will have to edit the database with a search and replace plugin and change the url’s for your current video thumbnails from http to https. The video thumb url’s all look like so: http://i.vimeocdn.com/video/ You should search the database and replace the http with https.
The table from the database is called wp_postmeta

I will add this issue to our list for future updates so in a future version of the theme we can add a functionality for the playlist thumbs.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.
