Hello Henry,

Unfortunately, the td_config.php core file can’t be overwritten by the child theme, sorry! You should make manually these changes for each update. For more information about this regard, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Hello Fitlogy.com,

Before each update, we recommend doing a full backup to your data because in this case, you will avoid losing all your data. For more information about what type of files were changed in our new update, please check this link ->changelog section -> http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609 Please notice that your update has to be done only via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. For more information about theme updating, please check this documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Please keep in mind that at each update if you do not use the child theme and if the files which are changed cannot be written in the child theme, you will lose all of your modifications and then you should make them again.

If you want to know what the update includes, you should check this link here -> https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609 -> https://www.screencast.com/t/kHbs6tmYNT and also, if you want to know what type of files has been changed, you should consult here -> http://tagdiv.com/td_deploy/Newspaper/changed_files_7.6_7.7.html

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

I know that the theme API is not supported by the child theme but… Can you please tell me what do I need to load in the child-theme functions.php file so that I can get at least some basic support for td_config? At the moment I’m interested in adding new single post styles within the child theme’s structure (but not override the existing ones), just like you would for example use td_api_single_template::add(‘single_template_14’…
I can’t touch the main theme (td_config and so on) because I will lose everything at the next update.

I can handle the code, I just need some hints as to what should I do to be have td support within the child theme because I get “Class ‘td_api_single_template’ not found in ../child-theme/functions.php”. Should I create a new class to extend the main class td_config? What do I need to make it work properly?

Thank you!

Hello Girltrotteuse,

It may be a js error that causes the theme lazyload animation to break and cause all images to get an opacity of 0 thus making them transparent. Try to disable this from Theme panel, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/dlNbhT0QO1 Please disable all plugins except Visual Composer, clear cache and reset CDN files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Also, if the problem is still there, you should provide your website so I can take a closer look inside it.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you!

i have this tow directories:

Thank you Bogdan for a quick respond. As you can see in the screenshot i do have a parent theme in the theme folder however, the child theme does not recognize it …

Hello,

In order to use a child theme you must also have a parent theme. Both themes need to be installed in the themes section. You are missing the parent theme. Please read this guide:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
and our theme child theme tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Hello,

I have tested wp super cache on my end again but did not see any extra fields in the comments section. Please disable all other plugins except visual composer and wp super cache and clear all caching including cdn files if you use it. Then test the comments again. If you use a child theme try to switch to the main theme.

Thank you!

Hi Bogdan,

I tried doing what you said and re-editing that page with visual composer, nothing happened.

I also tried creating a new page and seeing if visual composer works with that, again nothing happened.

Haven’t added any sort of custom code to my theme panel or theme files, and not using a child theme, only using the Newspaper theme I’ve downloaded from here.

Hi,

You could try this code, it will increase the max menu size, if that is what you want just enter it in Theme panel->Custom Css
If you add more items in the mega menu it will show them all in the dropdown (within the limit of 400px)

.block-mega-child-cats {
max-height: 400px;
}

Hello,

The ajax filter should put the links automatically if you add the ajax filter data. Please use this guide to display content in the ajax filter: https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
If the filter does not populate properly, please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. I turned off my child theme and loaded the Newspaper theme (most recent version Jan 17,2017 uploaded version) as the default theme.

I turned off all the plugins including visual composer. Cleared cache. No CDN. No custom code.

I am still having the problem of duplicate posts. I checked to make sure it was loading the same post and it wasn’t a duplicate post issue. It is loading the same post with the same timestamp and slug.

Not sure what else to check…

Hello,

Unfortunately there is no global font in our theme. The fonts are particular everywhere and they come from the theme, and from visual composer. That is the reason why we cannot use a global font as visual composer adds it;s own fonts to it’s own elements and our license agreement will not let us modify anything from the plugin.
You can try this topic to get rid of the google fonts: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/do-i-really-need-to-change-all-the-text-fields-for-fonts/
Unfortunately for these changes, you can only edit the main theme. sorry. There is no simple hook to use in the child theme.

Thank you!
