Hi, sorry for the late reply. I found out that using a child theme was the problem. I reset my child theme files to the ones supplied in the theme package folder to see if it was something I added that was causing the problem. Surprisingly i discovered that the problem remains there! So it looks like I just can’t use a child theme! Do you confirm this ?

Hi,
After updating version 7.5, all my subpages build with VC Template (My templates) suddenly are full width, not showing the sidebar. I think around 50 pages.

When editing the pages, they are still set with a sidebar and chosen.
Even if I try to create a new page using template, the theme dont care about my opinion and just go full Width.

This only seems to be a problem, when “My templates” has been used, and do not effect all other pages. SOme sidebars however have small spacing issues.

I use child, can NOT see any bugs or any plugins that needs update.

Is this a known bug, and is there a solution…-)

Thank You

Hello everyone,
I should add a custom size of the thumbnail images (eg. 300×300) which is necessary for a custom page with a radio player that gets the images based on the programs (post) times entered into a custom post (I have written custom code in child theme that already works well).
Where can I make changes to the code to add the new format?
Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, all the theme’s files are overwritten by the update. You could try to use the child theme as the module’s files are supported by child themehttps://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thanks!

Hi,

All the code modifications will be removed when you update the theme and you need to re-add theme. You could use the child themehttps://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thanks!

Hello,

The slider gallery works just fine on our end: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-aston-villa-beat-liverpool-to-join-arsenal-in-the-fa-cup-final/ If yours does not work like the on on our demo, then you probably have a js error affecting it. Please disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then test again. Also switch to the main theme if you use a child theme in order to rule out it;s interference. Please also disable any js optimization as well.

As for the second issue, it has since been fixed. You can access the forum now without any issues.

Thank you!

Hi Bogdan, thanks so much for your thorough reply including all the screenshots. I did eventually get the ad working in the sidebar via the theme panel Ads section – I think even though I was deleting cache after each try it may have been a caching issue.

I also got it working on mobile but it did not work when I placed the script in the head tag of child theme > mobile > header.php – I had to place it in the original theme mobile header file. Oh well, it is showing up! I will re-add the code when there is an update.

One more funny thing, do you know what the empty black bar is at the top of the mobile site above the logo, menu and search header? screenshot: http://www.screencast.com/t/gjJfA0VzAe

Thanks so much. I’m loving the theme 😀

Hi Catalln

thank you for your reply. That would have seemed to be an easy solution. Unfortunately it didn’t work out. I have put in the ‘j. F Y – G:i’ part its now:

<div class="meta-info">

<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_author();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date('j. F Y - G:i');?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_views();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_comments();?>
</div>

as u mentioned in your screens. I have put that code into all the templates loop- etc. I have erased cache on the side, and in my browser. I am using loop-single-7. I am also using a child theme, where my files that I change are. I also tried to do this on the original files – didnt change anything either. I can put into those round brackets of the “get_date” function all differnt styles. None are working. It is only changing on my page, when I am changing it in “wordpress” -> “settings” -> “general” where I can change it sitewide…

That is frustrating. Can you please elaborate? Do I have to change anywhere else something? It seems wordpress is overriding this settings here… just a thought. Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
You should keep a back-up of the modified file or use it in a child theme as that particular file will probably not be modified on each update. If the file will not get modified, you can use the update patch that is included in each version of the theme and replace the files that were modified by the new theme version
Thank you!

I know it’s not easy, but it can definitely be solved with the solution that I proposed; that is, being able to overwrite the file ‘/include/td_config.php’ in child theme and add module/blocks as you want.
This solution would give added value to all your already great job.

Your advice is correct, and that’s what we had done, but now we decided to modify the file ‘/include/td_config.php’ in the theme parent, and add a new module in the child theme (it works perfectly!).
Obviously, we will control each update, and add the code again in the event of your changes to the file; this until you can overwrite the files in the child theme.
Good day and thank you.

Thank You Bogdan B.!

With your permission, I’m a little add (this probably applies more for Russian sites).

For desktop versions of the site you can put buttons for sharing from the Russian search engine Yandex: https://tech.yandex.ru/share/

I inserted the code at the link above, slightly modifying the file td_module_single.php (works for child themes):

Result:

In Russian:

Спасибо Bogdan B.!

Hello everyone,
in a previous topic I was wondering the possibility of adding in the child theme modules/blocks that is not possible today.
My requirement, for example, is the ability to decide which modules display the meta info.
Because currently there is only the possibility to hide or see the meta info on everything, the only possibility would be to create a new module and not put meta info.
Another possibility, very good and that implements the theme, would be to be able to decide which modules/blocks enable meta info, as now is with the category tag.
It will be possible?
Thank you.

Hello Bogdan,
if I may make a suggestion:
it would be enough to make overwritten by the theme child the file /include/td_config.php, to record the new modules (or blocks…) and then insert the modules (or blocks…) in the child theme correct folders.
Thanks for the attention.

Sorry for the inconvenience but the theme API will not work from the child theme. The fix needs to be implemented on a development stage, there is no quick fix we can add here. I will add this to our list for future updates but I cannot promise anything as we get lots of suggestions and we must prioritize.

Thank you!

Thank you for your response.

I solved my problem.

Before updating, I switched theme to a basic one. After all updates, I came back to Newsmag, and then created a new child theme (the previous one caused errors).

Now, everything seems working.

Thank you.

Hi, I have 2 question.

1) I am currently using v7.3 & have install Envato toolkit. When I click on update automatically I saw a warning as below:

“Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made. ‘Cancel’ to stop, ‘OK’ to update.”

I didn’t install any child theme, modification is only on menu, pages layout etc… So can I proceed with the update?

2) How do I change the image on the ‘About Me’ page (Classic Blog theme) from the lady to my own photo?
Tks.

Hello FabioDuranti,

Unfortunately, the child theme has no support for theme API implementation, as you can see here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ -> http://screencast.com/t/gtlg3AfKWzn The only way in this regard is to create your own modules in the main theme and for each update, you should make a full backup to avoid losing the data. For more information about API implementation, check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_moduleadd/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello, congratulations for the job!
I am an advanced user and know the PHP programming; I need to create (and add) a new module for my child theme, but I noticed that the theme API does not work with child theme and I can not modify the existing one because it is already used in other pages.
If you do that by changing the main theme (by editing the file td_config.php and the inclusion of related files), to lose future update changes, or I’ll have to rewrite them and it’s not good.
You have a solution?
Thank you.

Hello,

Please disable all plugins except visual composer clear cache and rest cdn files if you use it. You seem to have a plugin conflict going on that affects the menu. Please also check for any customization and switch to the main theme if you use a child theme to rule out any custom code from there.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks.

Hi,

Our theme does not allow any sticky sidebar if that option is off. Your sidebars could not have been sticky at all without that option unless they came from a third party solution. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Without that option on, our theme will not show any sticky sidebar
If your sidebar is not sticky with that option on, then you have an error on your site that needs fixing. It is most likely a plugin conflict as it;s the number one reason for such issues. It could be other things such as customization, a faulty child theme, a js optimization…it could be a number of things. Please provide a link to your site so we can inspect it. If you do not want to post it here on the forum you can provide it via email at contact@tagdiv.com
I suspect it’s a plugin though as you seem to be using quite a lot of them on your site.

Thank you!

Hi,

Using the Newspaper theme.

Ive setup multiple post categories
And ive given each category a unique background image using style 6 category template.
(newspaper > theme panel > categories)

But this background image appears on all that categories child posts.
How do i remove the background image from the child post pages? Preferably id like to set a different template for all posts.

Hello,
People get this error when the update is not done properly or they have custom modifications made. Please make a clean install of the new version by following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Please restore all modifications you made to the theme, and switch to the main theme if you use a child theme. You can also set your search template from the theme panel. Simply change the settings here and hit the save button: http://screencast.com/t/hH65D9slczNW
Thank you!

Hello,

Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and rest cdn files if you use it. Plugin conflicts can sometimes prevent the normal functionality of wordpress and the theme.
Also if you use a child theme check your code or simply switch to the main theme to test the menu again.
Let us know how it goes.

Thank you!
