Please try it on a different post or make sure the values you mention are the ones introduced in the reviews as we cannot replicate this on our end. Alternatively you could try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn file to rule out a plugin conflict.

I am passing a value/variable through the page url to a Newspaper page. I have a Visual Composer Block Element (11) on that page and would like to pass that variable to the “Filter by tag slug”. Can and how do I do that?

I have the full licensed version of NewsMag and I just re-upped on paid support. I have the latest version of NewsMag and I’m also running the newest version of WordPress. Visual composer recently stopped working on my website and now hangs every time I try to load my homepage on my wordpress admin dashboard.
If I create a new page and I have to use visual composer, it won’t let me manually add text or items. But the catch is Visual Composer hangs and won’t let me add anything either. If I click “add element”, it will open the window showing all the elements, but if I click on any of the elements nothing will happen. It also won’t let me get to the visual/text tabs like on the “posts”, so I can’t create a new page without using Visual Composer. Which again, hangs and doesn’t let me add anything. This is a new development I’ve only noticed recently (I don’t often update my homepage).
Sorry in advance but I did not buy a separate license for visual composer, I’m using the version that came with NewsMag, so I don’t qualify for support there. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I am re-optimizing my network sites since upgrading from v2 v3, and needing to revisit all the past steps from past 3 years with new TadDiv tech, code, etc.
This project presumes I will do several advanced things
1) run mod_pagespeed on deploy; currently disabled for all other efforts; with proper webp format support added as mime type and in htaccess (MPS converts some png files to base64 inline, and others to .webp format when better than jpeg)
2) compress main css and js files not already compressed after ‘thinning’
3) decomment some TD files loaded by pages which are (ahem) overly commented
4) have proper gzip/deflate/TTL elements on server
5) no caching used for initial deploy (MPS uses opcache/memcache)
6) move CSS to footer and use critical CSS generator for inline above the fold CSS
7) test free SSL cert and http/2 on our new server for 2017
8) test move to PHP7 from PHP5
Follow along if the mood strikes; I’m just sharing my info not offering to consult with you (you cannot afford me, in most cases). Please do not post any questions until I post the info during last half of August 2016, as you can “try” any of my changes if you wish, at your own risk.
I am using Unix/Linux, CentOS, Plesk 12.5x (will likely move to ONYX when releases for 2017); Apache with NGINX in front; dedicated server, 1GB connection to network in Class A datacenter in Texas, USA. Running PHP 5x with PHP7 installed and will test ‘7’ once initial deploy stable with my ‘thinning’ and optimization.

I don’t think any kind of “slideshow” would work unless you have build out your own custom template. AMP is really more for stories, not for viral slideshows.
In our case we were able to do our own ‘related posts’ using the CRP plugin, then simply including the shortcode via a hook, along with a string to include link back to the story page and message to follow us on Apple News channel if using iOS device.
If I have time I’ll try to post that someplace.
Right now I’m in process of “thinning” Newsmag 3.1 along with the custom composer plugin to replace the v2x version and TD ‘SHIM;’ for one of our sites as text (server crash messed up the site, so seemed good time to move onward ) … just took 50kb out of main style.css since we don’t use BBpress/forum or Buddypress. Boom 50KB gone from style sheet 🙂

I updated Visual composer and the latest version of the Newspaper theme. I noticed that the author’s name i snot showing properly.
The author’s name inside the news post does not appear properly on mobile only.

Click on ANY news post and you will see that the author’s name above the social media icons is not being displayed properly.

REMINDER: always make BACKUP of your dbase BEFORE any major updates to WP — as it clearly states when doing update to ANY major “dot” version of WordPress. Doing an ‘export’ from tools is a “Plan C” level backup. A “Plan B” level backup is making a dump from MySQL with phpMyadmin from your hosting panel. A “Plan A” backup is using DUPLICATOR, and making full snapshot of website (but remembering to remove the backup once done).
Note also not all plugins may work with WP dot upgrades, not part of theme. Useful to go look on the support forum for those that you use, for each plugin first. A 3 year old plugin not updated for WP 4x might stop working at any time.
All sites with Newspaper and Newsmag (including latest Newsmag with the beta composer; older version of Newspaper) all working with 4.6

the problems are solved (not by miracles…)
we updated the visual composer plugin
now everything is back to normal
the website was subject to a hacker intrusion
it was a soft attack, we managed to clean the problems
this subject can be closed
the theme works flawless!

The update process cannot be done through the envato automatic update since the theme version did not get changed. Please use either the ftp method or the wp method. Not the envato market plugin.
As for the plugins, you simply need to deactivate and delete files for the current plugins (visual composer, social counter and revolution slider) and then install them again from here: http://screencast.com/t/nGoc0tH27

If you have the latest version of the theme and the latest version of the visual composer plugin ,there should not be any issues. We have no such reports yet. I have inspected your site and the homepage is intact. The slider is present and working.
Maybe there is a plugin that you use that is no longer compatible with the latest version of the theme. This can happen as code gets changed and plugins can no longer recognize it. Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Please provide more details to the exploits you found. What tool did you use to scan so we can investigate this and see if there really is an exploit. (“tools” are usually not very accurate)

A month ago, we updated the wordpress and the theme
Almost everything went well, except the visual composer
The colored icon redirects to vc.wpbakery.com, to buy the page builder plugin.
So we use Classic Mode only to modify articles in the main slider.
Now we tried to update to the last version of the theme
And the homepage slider dissapears
Also, we encountered some security issues
After a scan, we discoverd exploits in the following plugins:
– wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/footer88.php
– wp-content/plugins/jetpack/json-endpoints/class.wpcom-json-api-get-customcss.php
– wp-content/plugins/td-social-counter/widget/cache.php
– wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/formatter/class-metabox-formatter.php

I just don’t want to load down my site with bloated stuff that isn’t needed.
I also found a big chunk of Buddypress CSS – why is that there?
I’ve removed some of the things I don’t think I need and that has taken the 876K down to 691K. (I estimate I can get it down another 100K.
The minified complete style.css is 648K and the cutdown minified css is 489k
Before, My story pages were loading in 8+ seconds. Now they are loading in 4 seconds.
That is better, but I want them to be faster. That is why I want to remove anything that doesn’t need to be there. I haven’t tried it with the cutdown CSS yet.
I’ve also tried most of the things suggested by Chris, including preventing Visual Composer loading in stories (posts).
After this, I will work on shrinking VC for the front page.
Then, I will try using Varnish and nginx rather than Apache.

If you choose to have a blog homepage, meaning you selected the latest posts in the WP settings, then you do not have access to visual composer on that page. You can only choose the layout settings from here: http://screencast.com/t/TZtEJaz4F6z
You can only use visual composer on static pages, not on the blog page.

We have tested also the beta version before the release and did not found any issues. Also we(support team) use latest wordpress version on our local install and we did not found any issues. So it should work properly.
@Piyush Bandi I suggest to disable all your plugins except Visual Composer , clear all the caches and see if the issue persist as we did not found any issues using wordpress 4.6. I think that a plugin you use cause this error.

We also use wordpres 4.6 on our local install and also we have tested the beta version before the release but we did not found any issues with the category tag on post page.
Please disable all your plugins except Visual Composer to make sure that it is not a plugin issue and also clear all your caches.

Menus load instantly in our theme. You most likely have a plugin conflict affecting the menu. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Then test the menu again.

Hello,
this happens because in your new posts you use visual composer on posts even for your text. Please only use the standard mce editor and add simple text so it can wrap around the featured image. If you use visual ocmposer text boxes, they cannot wrap around the image.

Unfortunately you cannot as the mobile theme does not use visual composer in order to provide the best loading times. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
If you want to have blocks on your mobile version you can simply disable the mobile theme plugin and use the standard responsive version of the theme.
