@paulberrow, I talked to my programmer, he tested the update on a test version of our system and it worked. We had only minor problems (in some cases, the “limit” of posts in a template got lost, but could be added manually again).
It’s the version 4.7.4 of Visual Composer. This update was sent out by WPBakery, the programmers of Visual Composer, for free. Now it’s running without problems on our main system.
But you should definitly test it on a test version.

I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’re using page-builder + latest as a page template. Using the default sidebar options from page settings will affect only the latest article part: http://screencast.com/t/hyQbkDdCINTz not the one built with Visual Composer page-builder. To add the sidebar here: http://screencast.com/t/XahYbpuDd you have to use a widgetized sidebar block from visual composer like here: http://screencast.com/t/YbNfZtxNu Also make sure that you empty all caches then test the site again.

Hi, I noticed visual composer is not working. I cant see the “back-office editor button” … there is only shortcodes. I did all the updates (WP + theme + plugin).

That is a strange issue you are having, as the theme does not give a 404 when an author has no posts: Here is an example when you click on an author with no posts on our end: http://screencast.com/t/iH8uIyDojv. So it seems something interferes with the theme default behavior. We cannot say for sure what the cause is for this, but the login comes from an untested plugin so we cannot know exactly how it’s implemented and we cannot ensure it’s functionality. Please try it without any plugins to see if the theme in it’s default state still provides the 404 error when clicking on a new author. Disable all your plugins except visual composer and test the authors page. You can easily check this by using an author box element in visual composer to get a list of authors.

Did you update the speed booster plugin if using it, and the visual composer plugin also ? Did you update the social plugin ? New theme often includes new version of plugin(s) also. Which you can see by looking at the “changelog” included with each update zip file.
Did you also update to WP 4.4 ?

Try turning off all plugins except Visual Composer?
Well, your site is messed up. Nobody here can help you with the back end.
Switch to default twenty-fifteen theme.
Make backup of all your site files via FTP; make backup of dbase via phpmyadmin.
Clear cache; disable cache plugins. Delete cache plugins. Delete any additions to the htaccess file from the caching plugins if yours do that for custom rewrites.
a) disable and remove all plugins except for Visual Composer – a bad, compromised, hacked, broken plugin can break other stuff; rename the plugins folder xplugins to reset for WP
b) install CLEAN version of WP via FTP (delete the wp-admin, wp-includes; all the root WP files except config); upload the new ones from the wordpress.org zip download
c) login to WP; rename plugins folder back to plugins
d) turn on visual composer
e) turn on the TagDiv theme
See where you’re at.
Hello, I want to update to the newest version of News Mag, however I would like to stay away from Visual Composer as it slows my website down. Someone in the forum made a plugin by the name of Shim I believe which I am currently using.
My question is, upon updating to the latest version, will this plugin still work?

While trying to install demos I get an error “500 Internal Server Error”.
– System Staus parameters are all green. (memory limit = 120M)
– Visual Composer plugin is enabled only. All other plugins are disabled.
** I was able to install successfully only the Travel demo.

Let’s see:
1. Js errors. Yes I had some errors with that, actually a lot, but I arrange it. The problem was on child theme (functions.php). Now all events with js seems to work properly.
2. I disabled all plugins except Visual Composer at first, and also updated theme to last version. Suddenly WordPress works great, so I started to enable plugins one by one and check if they cause some problems. Everything right (I didn’t enable WP-Rocket). I guessed problem was on there, but a couple hours late a new error 500 appeared on my screen.
I tell that because webpage works good during a couple of hours until crash again, maybe is a good hint for you to find out what’s happening on it.
3. I just followed your tutorial (except suhosin because my hosting doesn’t provide it). Let’s see how it works now, just after the changes have been made, web charges like lightning.
I hope this works fine, if it doesn’t, I would like share a couple of screencaptures with you because maybe some parameters on htacces o php.ini are causing the problem. For instance, php.ini had “memory_limit = 1024M

Items do not float anymore but are forced to stack. I also tried to create a new page from scratch, but nothing seems to work and any block or element I add to a row is not kept side by side but goes underneath the preceding one.
I deactivated all other plugins currently installed. Cleared cache. Zero results.

What you need to do is create a page eg. “3Menu” or any name.
Then you create three (or as many as you need) columns with visual composer, add some text in or you can add a widget position and assign a menu to each widget position.
Then, you go to appearance, menu manager, add a menu item and select the page under mega menu option.
Then in the drop down that page will display.

It seems that your blocks can only list posts. I just wanted to see if there was another for me to get a taxonomy page listing all my terms.

Did the tests you requested me, disable all plugins except RevSlider and VisualComposer and clear the cache. I use not cdn for now.
Now I can see the background image but the style is still wrong, even I tried two different web browsers (IE and Firefox) and the result is the same.
I suspect that the slider is getting the style that comes by default in newspaper, and not the custom that I am putting on the panel RevSlider.
I really want to implement the slider on my site, it’s part of my design.

there is a way to ALWAYS have the ticker on posts. But this one cannot be removed. You will have to edit the post template files and add the news ticker with a shortcode. You can insert it only on the templates you want.
You can use this code:

You first need to create the news ticker as you want it (edit it’s settings) in visual composer and then use the shortcode visual composer creates for the element. You can see it in classic mode and text mode. For example:
[td_block_trending_now]. (the code will look like so:
<?php echo do_shortcode('[td_block_trending_now]')?>)
Then you can use it in the desired template file: http://screencast.com/t/kgKgZYYsV or all of them if you wish to have it on all templates.
Depending on where you want the trending now to display inside the post you will need to insert the function in a certain place inside the file: http://screencast.com/t/1TYJUINUSVJ

I’ve resolved the issue with Visual Composer,by coping all the files again.
Now I have different issue, it might haves something to do with wordpress 4.4, pagination is not working?
No matter on what page I click, I get same posts…

Unfortunately filtering custom post types is not yet implemented in our modules and blocks. Blocks can display CTP-s but you will need custom modifications to make the blocks filter custom post types. You will most likely need to hire a freelancer to help out on this one as it will require quite a bit of php knowledge and we cannot offer any custom work at the moment.

Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and try it again. If you are using the Photon feature of Jetpack, please disable it because this feature is known to cause errors with our theme.
