Hi catalin,
I tried disabling plugs in on the main plugins tab of WordPress as well as the plugins on NewsMag panel. But it didnt work. My suspects are the new plugs in installed by my friend:
Autoptimize
Optimizes your website, concatenating the CSS and JavaScript code, and compressing it.
EWWW Image Optimizer
Reduce file sizes for images within WordPress including NextGEN Gallery and GRAND FlAGallery. Uses jpegtran, optipng/pngout, and gifsicle.
Unveil Lazy Load
This plugin makes lazy-image-load possible to decrease number of requests and improve page loading time, and uses a lightweight jQuery plugin created by optimizing Unveil.js in order to only load an image when it’s visible in the viewport.
ZenCache
ZenCache is an advanced WordPress caching plugin inspired by simplicity. Speed up your site (BIG time!) with a reliable and fast WordPress cache.
But not sure on which one from them or if there is any.
The AJAX Preload stopped working last week while the Smart sidebar just a couple of days ago, I can’t track if which plugin has affected it.
My other suspect for the Smart Sidebar is that I put an tagdive Slide. I already removed it tho.
Thanks
Hello George,
This problem may be caused due that Css execute the setting in cascading. If you have a more custom Css in your area, until the Css execute this code, it is possible to appear that flicker. You can try to place the code directly in your Style.css or if you want to disable this, you should remove the line in header_style used, like this: http://screencast.com/t/IK18hoIWk20e (it is an example for header style 1).
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
Hi Bogdan,
Thanks for the reply and proposing a solution.
I think this solution is not good because every smart post will require a CSS change. I am thinking to use custom fields.
I am currently using child theme. Do you know which file I have to edit if I have to remove sidebar entirely?
I understand this question does not cover your support policy. So, it’s fine for me if you can’t answer this question.
Thanks,
Moazam
Hi,
I have just applied the new WordPress 4.4 update and now none of my custom css is working!
Any ideas?
Kevin
Hello suipowers,
Please try the code below and place it in Custom Css area, like this: http://screencast.com/t/QSomZN6xkp
.td-pb-span4 .td_module_1 .td-post-date {
display:none;
}
.td_module_1.td_module_wrap{
padding-bottom:0;
}
The result you should see here: http://screencast.com/t/V3mazwMmmoLM
If you want to hide the date, everywhere appears block 3, you can use the same above code, without .td-pb-span4 http://screencast.com/t/lNdCXi1yW
If is not what you mean, please provide more details about this.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
:)) Mistake by my part as well. Did not see the 4 w’s.
Please use this custom css and remove the old one:
.home .tp-rightarrow.default, .home .tp-leftarrow.default{
display:none !important;
}
Thank you!
Hello,
The modification is all css related
you will need to use the media queries to target just the mobile viewport. Then you can make images use the whole container width and change positioning:
@media (max-width: 767px){
.td_module_11 .td-module-thumb {
width: 100%;
position:relative;
}
.td_module_11 .td-module-thumb .entry-thumb{
width:100%;
}
}
Now you will need to position the titles and excerpts.
This should get you started on your task.
Thanks.
Hello,
It seems your button title is too long and the css for woocommerce does not let it jump to another line.
You can override this with this code:
.woocommerce #respond input#submit, .woocommerce a.button, .woocommerce button.button, .woocommerce input.button{
white-space: normal!important;
}
Simply place the code in the theme panel->custom css box
result:http://screencast.com/t/LKoyl4OlC
Thanks.
Hello,
Unfortunately you cannot hide the sidebar based on smartlists but you can hide it based on post id’s. Every post has a unique id you can see with your browser inspector: http://screencast.com/t/LOWjAktF
Fopr example the post id from the above screenshot is 1385 so i would use css to hide the sidebar on that particular post like so:
.postid-1385 .td-main-sidebar{
display:none!important;
}
You can use this code to apply it to your particular posts you want to use smartlists on. Simply copy and paste the code then change the id. (you can get the id from the back-end as well: http://screencast.com/t/gYFV7SoYF)
Thanks.
Hello,
I tested this and found that using a
element instead of a span for your links will eliminate the space.
example:
You can then use this custom css to enlarge the images to 100% and reduce margins:
.td-post-content img{
width:100%;
}
Thank you!
Hello awtown,
It is neccesary to decrease the font-size value. For this, please try the code below and place it in Custom Css area, like this: http://screencast.com/t/KzM8ZPXiaY
@media (max-width:767px) {
.td-related-title .td-related-left {
font-size:11px;
}
.td-related-title .td-related-right {
font-size:11px;
}
}
@media (min-width:767px) and (max-width:1035px){
.td-related-title .td-related-left {
font-size:17px;
}
.td-related-title .td-related-right {
font-size:17px;
}
}
You can adjust the font-size value until you achieve as you want.
The result you should see here: http://screencast.com/t/Dn2W22bgo5h
If is not what you mean, please provide more details!
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
Hello jerocarson,
You should try the code below and place it in Theme panel->Custom Css area like this: http://screencast.com/t/Ca2XfxRj
.single_template .td-post-content {
padding: 0px;
}
.single_template .td-post-featured-image img {
width: 100%;
}
The result is here: http://screencast.com/t/3HSs3nosxZS2
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for the message!
1. Okay on the GTMetrix, you will see a Minify CSS. click on “see optimized…”. You will copy it and then go to your Editor, select or clear the style.css, then paste the minified css.
2. Search for EWWW image optimizer plugin, install it and “Bulk optimize” all your images.
3. Then search for Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin. You should Regenerate your thumbnails that way they will fit in your blocks.
4. Download WP Super cache and set it up, use mod_rewrite, it is the fastest.
5. You should get Cloudflare, and set it up as well then click on minify css and javascript but not html because WP Super Cache handles that for you.
All these should reduce your page size and increase your pagespeed.
All these settings I gave you made me score 90+ on desktop and 70+ on mobile before i added the Ads 😉
Factwide is my website, you can test its pagespeed to verify my claims.
Hello there! I have the following problem: when I am creating a slider with Revolution Slider, and preview it in a plugin panel is perfectly fine. The slider have a custom css.
But when I implement in my site, and view it through a mobile it does not look like the preview slider on the plugin panel.
This is my site , it is under construction, when view it through a mobile the slider elements doesn’t look well.
NO themes I’ve used in the past 10 years auto-minify the css and js — as this allows developers, and others to be able to edit/modify without decoding.
You can manually minify your files if you wish. very simple to do.
Some js cannot be auto-minified. Simply does not work. There are tools which compress js very well — I mention one in my sticky post on WP optimization here in the forums. Ooops, it’s no longer sticky.
But if you search for Chris’ optimizations — should find it 🙂
Finally figured out why my images weren’t loading on my home page – w3 total cache and minification. Switched to WP Super Cache and tagdiv speed booster and manually added caching and compression to my site, and it’s a fair score for Google Page Speed, but not great.
Realized WP Super Cache doesn’t do minification, and neither does Speed Booster.
I’m going to test Better WordPress Minify.
Just wanted to say I’m disappointed that Newspaper doesn’t handle auto minification. Removing whitespace in CSS or JS shouldn’t break functionality.
Hi,
i’ve been updating my site today, it’s now positioned here…
unfortunately the CSS code you gave me to hide the navigation arrows on the ‘slide’ element has stopped working.
Can you advise?
Thanks
Before I added Google Ads, my pagespeed was incredibly close to 90+, flunctuating between 85-90 then on Mobile was just a measly 65-75
Not too bad for now. How did I accomplish it.
1. Bulk Optimize your images with EWWW Image optimizer.
2. Use the regenerate thumbnail plugin to regenerate your thumbnails so that they can fit properly in the blocks.
CSS Minification made easy.
3. Go to GTMetrix and Analyse your URL.
4. You should see a Minify CSS followed by a percentage. Click on it to see more of the recommendation.
5. You will see your theme’s style.css in my case it was /…/Newspaper/style.css?ver=6.6
6. Click on see optimized version. It will open in a new tab with your CSS minified.
7. You select all ( Ctrl+A) and Copy (ctrl+C) then go to your theme editor (ie Appearance> Editor) in WordPress. then your style.css, you select all again and Paste (Ctrl+V).
That is it!.
This is just my way of giving back to everyone here that finds time to answer my silly questions and help me out in their little ways. Tagdiv support team, you guys rock, and Chris S as well.
Oh, and my site, Factwide, is proudly Tagdiv Newspaper!.
Hello,
Unfortunately you will need to hire a freelancer to help out with the css as it was changed a lot and does not behave as expected anymore. The theme has no RTL option and in order to make it RTL lots of css was altered and it will be no surprise if more and more elements will not be positioned correctly on your website. We usually help out where we can but we are a small team and time does not allow us to tackle time consuming tasks.
You can hire a freelancer to help you out with setting up your website from sites like studio.envato.com
Thank you for your understanding.
I thought it was the Newspaper v 6.6.1 or because i minified the css, so i downgraded to v6.6 and it was still the same.
When I deactivated speed booster, it was back to normal.
I think a lesson here to anyone will be let them test the speed booster on their setup and if it behaves weirdly, they should remove it.
Nice work there.
Factwide is faster than ever!.
hi
i find costum css in post last month to change the background color of the side bar
and i erase the code by mistake and now i dont find it again ?
Can you give me the css custom code for background color in my left sidebar
thanks
Hello,
Unfortunately the theme has no option for it and it will be no easy task to make it work. You will need to change the thumbnail used by the element and modify it’s css. There is no easy method to do it except coding it. You will need coding knowledge to get it done. you can hire a freelancer if you cannot do it from sites like studio.envato.com
Thank you!
Hello ven,
Unfortunately, our theme has not been designed to populate all four sections of the grid with the newest post from four different categories. The algorithm of sorting posts in big grid is by latest articles from your category. If you set some 4 different categories, the Big Grid will display you the ultimate/latest posts in your categories per total, not individual for each category. Big grid is a single complex structure and will display the latest post per total not only by categories. I hope you understand how this works. If you want to make to function the Big Grid what you want, it is necessary to make some customization in core file and also are required custom work.
To display more levels you need custom modifications and I suggest to hire a freelancer to do this for you as we cannot provide custom work at this time, sorry!
Another possibility for you, would be to use this scheme in Visual Composer, to achieve what you want: Big slide + Block 3 (set the limit post number to 1) + Block 15 (set the limit post number to 2), like this: http://screencast.com/t/cgx5O3HTl – http://screencast.com/t/eJsutCef0Dx – http://screencast.com/t/4U2drugHSjR3 After, then you can set each block to a different category, as well.
The result you should see here: http://screencast.com/t/06Z386uK8 -also, with a bit of Css you can make a style of this, as you want.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
I’ve got my signup form in the ‘bottom ad’ section, which is why it’s probably using the css for that unit.
Is there anyway to have it aligned left?
I’ve sent you an email with my URL.
Thanks,
Hello,
It can be done with css but unfortunately that size will not leave enough size for the header ad. It will have to be adjusted as well. And this also depends on the ad you place. I can edit the ad i have set up, but it is not probably the same size as your ad.
Please provide a link so we can inspect your website and see exactly what we are dealing with.
Thank you!
