Hello Alicegreentree,

Please notice that we recommend installing the theme via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case. Also, if you will do not read our installation guide, probably you do not install the theme, sorry!
Also, if you will need more assistance in this case, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin), CPanel access and FTP so we can take a closer look at it.

Thanks.

Hello Gabor,

That error you are getting is in most cases related to a plugin. Try as a quick test to deactivate all your plugins (except theme plugins), check if this solves the problem.

Also, make sure that the theme system status is configured as mentioned in the requirements guide. Please follow the guide carefully

If there is still a problem, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.

I updated the files via FTP to the latest 9.1 version. While in the “Appearance –> Themes” section of WordPress, I can see that now the version has been updated to 9.1, it still shows 9.0.1 within the Theme panel.

I checked via FTP and the new files that are supposed to be there in 9.1 have also been uploaded, but I can’t use the new copy-paste feature in the TagDiv Composer plugin, which was supposed to be one of the major improvements in 9.1. I had updated the plugins too, including the td-composer plugin, after updating the theme files to the latest version.

What could be the issue?

Hi thanks but this is not the solution I’m looking for. I’m not interested in FTP.

I have updated easily in the past through WordPress and it should continue to be consistent. Your support info states: 1. navigate to themes 2. click install themes and upload 3. browse the newspaper zip file and click install now 4. Activate

on step 3 I get message that there is a duplicate folder and install failed. That didn’t happen with the previous two new versions that I installed the same way. So what is wrong? What do I need to do to fix THIS method of upgrading (that is in your support material).

By the way, no one wants to read long convoluted help material (that is so archaic) Videos are nice.

Thanks for your help!

Firstly always backup the files and the database, in case something goes wrong with the server you could use the backup to revert to the previous state.

Read section A. Update the theme via FTP

Hi,

Please check if the tagDiv composer plugin is active. Seems to mention that a multi-purpose header style is/was selected in the theme panel, without the tagDiv composer active that message may be displayed.

If there is still a problem we could take a look. Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin access, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Thanks

Hello,

I recently swapped themes from a free WordPress one to this. It’s great but I cannot add plugins without crashing the site.
For example, I need to add YOAST to support the SEO on each blog post. At the moment I have all my post showing missing meta description.

When I add the plugin via WordPress I get a message saying ‘Failed to connect to FTP server’ however the details are correct! When I add it via my server it sends an error 500 message on the screen!

Can anyone help?

Hi,

Could be something with your SSL implementation, you could contact the hosting provider and mention this issue to them. They should be able to help you.

Or simply install the plugins by FTP, the method is described in this guide
https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/step-by-step-guide-to-install-a-wordpress-plugin-for-beginners/

Thanks

Hello,

Unfortunately, please notice that we do not recommend to update the theme via Envato Tool Kit because it seems to be more problematic which causes some issues. Try to update the theme via FTP because this is the surest method in this case. Check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Thanks for your understanding!

I hope you can help! Featured Video is not creating a Featured Image, and nothing is showing on the grid on the homepage. (https://www.staging1.themultimedianinja.com/)
I am using one of the specified Post Templates (Post Style 2 now, but I have tried Default, 1, 2, 9, 10, and 11). I have the post format set to Video. (https://www.staging1.themultimedianinja.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Screen-Shot-2018-10-17-at-6.21.09-PM.png) I have tried reinstalling the theme via ftp, repairing the database in cpanel, clearing local cache (and disabling Cloudflare, etc.), removing any plugins that aren’t critical… Pulling my hair out at this point.

Love the theme, hope you can help me with this!

Hi.

I fixed the issue. So if anyone got this problem, hope you find this useful. 🙂

– Remember to check if your site use cache plugin and hosting also. Deactivate this first.
– Deleting plugins then install again via FTP or in the plugin panel. Remember download the latest plugin on the Theme Package.

Hello clickcookies,

The message you get is quite common with WordPress. In most cases, it can be easily fixed.

For example – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-link-you-followed-has-expired/
In that case, the max upload size was limited, increasing it solved the problem. Usually, this is the main cause.

Check this guide carefully and make modifications if needed
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If everything is set properly there should be no problem. Contact your hosting provider if needed and ask them to make changes as the guide suggests.

You can also install the theme by FTP, that is not difficult to do and it’s very useful to know how to use FTP. If our guide is not detailed enough check some more online
– https://dappercodes.com/installing-wordpress-theme-via-ftp/
– https://docs.presscustomizr.com/article/141-how-to-manually-install-or-update-a-wordpress-theme
– https://www.shoutmeloud.com/install-wordpress-theme.html

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!

@bonnsusport From what I can see currently the website provides a 500 error
https://www.screencast.com/t/4lBSw4Yoe

The most important things to check is if there are sufficient resources
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Check if there is enough WP memory, for most users a value of 256M is enough.

Maybe re-install the theme in case something went wrong during the update. The most recommended and reliable method is by FTP
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

If you still cannot login after the update, disable all plugins by FTP
https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/
Check if the website works. Delete the theme plugins and reinstall them from the package.

The theme is compatible with PHP versions up to 7.2, 7.1 would be a good version to use.

Let us know what you find.
Thanks

Hi,

After updated to 9.1 (download theme package when use FTP to install). I can not activate the plugin like Composer, cloud library.

It all show: The following plugins were disabled because they are incompatible with this version of Newspaper:

I got this issue before, I know how to fix it, but it not successful. Here what I tried:
– Deleting plugins then install again via FTP, I use the latest one in theme package 9.1 > still got this message
– Deleting plugins then install directly from Newspaper panel on Backend website.
– Tries backup to my old theme version 8.xxx and install the plugin on theme package >> still got this issue

So what I thought

– The downloaded theme on ThemeForest is not 9.1
– or The plugin on theme package is not used for 9.1 or not update lastest one.

Hello Kennplus,

Please check your System Status and make sure you meet the theme server requirements -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ Please change PHP version up to 7.1 and use this guide to increase the parameters required by the theme.
If the issue is still there, please try to deactivate all your plugins except tag div plugins and check again.
If the issue persists please provide also FTP or Cpanel access so we can investigate this.
If the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further investigate it closer your setup page. Also, provide the full CPanel access so we can try to install again the theme.

Thanks for your understanding!
