- NewsmagHow to update the theme
You should get comfortable using ftp (or the cpanel upload option) coz it is the most secure and stable way to get things right.
Install the theme afresh via your cpanel (ftp). Then deactivate and delete the td composer plugin and install the one that is inside the theme in Newspaper>Plugins. That should solve your problem.
Just recently bought and installed the version 8.6 on a test server and it worked flawlessly, but today I installed the new version 8.7 on the main server it didn’t work. It installed okay but when I apply any function in the theme panel, the spinning indicator just spins and spins but doesn’t proceed.
I later deleted everything and reinstalled the theme again using ftp but still the same thing.
I later also deleted all plugins and tried again but still the same thing.
The system status shows everything is okay, including the max_execution_time, WP Memory Limit, etc.
Please help!
I’m having the same problem with the plugin, and I’m not comfortable using FTP for the updates. Are there any fixes planned for the plugin? Thanks.
Yes, I deleted the previous version and reinstalled the new one just downloaded from themeforest two times, even manually via ftp, cleared browsers cache but still not working.
Do you have access to your cpanel? Login and delete the td composer plugin and install the one that came with theme version 8.7. Also, update the theme via FTP and all should be well.
First, update the theme via FTP. Then delete the tagdiv composer plugin and install the updated version that came with the theme. If you use visual composer, after updating the tagdiv composer, deactivate the tagdiv composer and I hope it should be fine now.
Delete the td composer plugin and install the updated version that came with version 8.7. That will solve your problem. But make sure you update the theme first via FTP before updating the plugin.
Hi,
Please make sure that also tagdiv plugins were updated. Try to update them manually.
After you update the theme to the latest version 8.7 please deactivate and delete tagdiv composer and multipurpose and reinstall them from the theme package you download from themeforest – https://www.screencast.com/t/qW9yhmKst
If the issue persist please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can take a look.
Thanks!
Hello Jose,
Please try to follow all of the above steps and make a new clean install to another sub-domain for testing after you have made a full back up to your database and check the results. Use the FTP method for update the theme.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello MOKANA,
Do you have made a full backup to your database? I recommend you to do this and make a new fresh install to another sub-domain for testing with FTP method because this is the surest method in this case. The theme has been fully tested and should work as expected. Notice that if you will use some untested plugins all of these might interact with the theme core files and causes a lot of unknown issues. If the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page together with these elements that you do not work. Make sure that you have right backed up your website and all of your information are there. Provide there the link to this topic so we can quickly identify you.
Thanks for the message!

Clear all caches (browser cache as well) and CDN if used, then check the results. There should be no problems anymore.
If there are still problems please open new topics each, for further investigation.
Thanks
Hi,
That is quite an old theme version, much has changed in the theme since then. However you can make the update and there should be no problem. Follow this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Update by FTP if possible, this is the most recommended method in the matter. After the update deactivate the tagDiv composer, this composer may cause issues to pages built with Visual composer. It will be activated by default when the theme is installed or updated.
The tagDiv composer is considered the main theme page builder now, Visual composer will still be included in the package and updated along theme updates

Thanks
Hi,

Update the theme plugins as well, the new composer and multi-purpose version is 2.0
– https://www.screencast.com/t/CqK7d2S0p0
Be sure to clear all caches after updating, also CDN cache if used. Let us know the results.
Thanks
I did the update via FTP after I seen all the messages on the new update but still can’t see why it’s not working. I had to launch something today but i delay because the TD composer plugin is still causing problem :/
Hello Pumbany,
We only recommend the FTP method for updating your theme because this is the surest way in this case. Usually, the Envato Toolkit plugin seems to be problematic and that’s why we recommend the FTP method, according to our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
@rihasi Please try to provide all the details in one posting, if you keep replying in the topic you will only delay the response. We answer from oldest to newest. Note the support hours mentioned in the top right corner as well.
You mention you had problem using the multi-purpose plugin since purchasing the theme, you could have mentioned this before. We would have investigated the issue. The HTTP error is an internal server error.
You could try these suggestions. Reinstall theme by FTP
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Deactivate and remove the theme plugins and install them again from the latest theme package. Deactivate all other plugins, leave only theme plugins active. Clear all caching and CDN cache if used.
Check if the error is still present. If it is, that would mean there is a problem with the hosting server. Check with them, mention the theme requirements
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Maybe there are also logs kept by the server that could be helpful to identify what is causing this problem. Let us know the conclusions.
Thanks
Hi,
The theme panel settings can be exported/imported when migrating the website
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/
Anything else would be standard website migration

The duplicator plugin is highly recommended in the matter.
The positioning of the slider has a simple explanation. In the first website you provided, the politics demo is installed.
By default all pages have a padding top set by the theme, the politics demo when installed will deny that padding with a negative margin
– https://www.screencast.com/t/uTFFjjKq
This can be achieved without installing the politics demo. Either remove the padding top with CSS, or set a similar negative margin to the row containing the slider

The Envato plugin may not be the best method to update. There are other more reliable methods
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
By FTP is the most recommended among all of them. Also remember to update the theme plugins as well.
Thanks
Hi,
If the theme has been installed properly (by FTP) and you have also updated the theme plugins (now version 2.0 – https://www.screencast.com/t/xpcpclogUB6V) please deactivate all other plugins as a quick test, leave only theme plugins active. Clear all caching installed and CDN cache if used. Also clear browser cache.
In case the issue remains after trying these suggestions, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information. We will investigate further.
Also include a link to this topic in the email.
Thanks
Yes because I just deleted td-composer by FTP
You can simply download the latest theme package (8.7) and follow the guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The most recommended method is by FTP. Remember to update the theme plugins as well.
Here you can see some of the newly introduced features

Hello ShibumiOz,
Please update all the plugins which come bundled with the theme core files. I recommend to make a new clean install via FTP way and also, make sure that your plugins have been updated if you want to achieve best theme results. Clear all the caches and check the results.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
I downloaded the update and installed the new theme without a problem (by FTP).
Then I deleted the plugins (by FTP) and uploaded the new ones.
I didn’t upload Revolution Slider and JS Composer as I don’t use a slider or Visual Composer.
The website crashed. I have this error message: Error 502 Ray ID: 3ed5fd824c7a33af • 2018-02-15 05:50:34 UTC
I deleted the plugins through FTP and uploaded the zips through WordPress.
Everytime I activate td composer the website crash, doesn’t let me access the admin panel anymore and give me the error: Error 502 Ray ID: 3ed5fd824c7a33af • 2018-02-15 05:50:34 UTC
Please help
I have configured a site to be exactly how I want.
When I move the site over to another URL I loose pretty much everything.
I have used the WORDPRESS migration install tool, which creates a new database and moves over the site in its entirety except for CCS and Newspaper configurations. I have to go in via the Theme Tab and reset all the colors and header settings. Basically I have to reset everything manually.
The one thing that I cannot seem to resolve is the placement of the Revolution Slider.
On the original site, I select Style 6 and this places the Slider directly under the Main Navigation Menu without a gap. The color is all seamless. When I move this over to the new site, no matter what I do I cannot get the Revolution Slider to be in the correct position as the original site. This can be demonstrated by going to https://www.culpablecrimes.com to see the Slider in the correct position, then moving to https://culpablecrimes.mokana.com and seeing the white space between the menu and the slider.
After the WORDPRESS migration, I even did a massive FTP of the original site and checked the database for any CSS. Still the same results. None of the CSS and color schemes are active.
Lastly: I would upgrade to 8.7 if I could find the instructions on how to do it. Where are they?
Thanks
MOKANA
I reinstalled the theme via FTP and reinstalled the above plugins and still doesn’t work. Waiting for support to resolve this ticket. Is this the only way to request support?
