Hello dkpolaco,

Please check your system status parameters to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/ Most likely, your PHP memory has exhausted and that’s why you cannot save anything. Clear all the caches and check the results.

Thanks for your understanding!

FTP always best way to update theme, plugins, etc. — and always good to disable certain plugins like wp-booster that change how the content works dynamically, when doing any updates. Much like turning off caching, etc.

I can’t install the theme, version 8. Downloaded it today from Envato.
When uploading via WP theme uploader I get a “are you sure you want to proceed?” popup and no chance to go forward – it usually appears when the theme is broken (as in fact it appears to be)
when uploading via FTP everything goes smooth, but then in the Themes section I get an error message, saying that the theme misses the Syle sheet, and hence it is installed, but cannot be used.
What can I do?

Hello ashokbasnetashu,

First of all, please ensure that your theme’s updating was right made via FTP way and then, notice that you should have active only one-page builder like as Visual Composer or TD Composer. We do not recommend using together because may appear some issues. For more information about using our page builder, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/ After this, check your system status parameters to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Hope this helps!

Hello aqimz91,

Please ensure that you have right installed the theme via FTP way and then, make sure if you do not use the both page builder simultaneously. Also, we do not recommend to have all of them to be active in the same way. Use one of them.

Thanks for your understanding!

I had to deactivate all the plugins via FTP to make it work and realized the WP Super Cache tested plugin was causing conflict, still don’t know why but everytime i activate it, my site crashes

Hi,

Please try to reinstall the theme, manually
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Install and activate only theme plugins provided in the package.
Check the theme system status and make modifications to the parameters mentioned in this guide, if needed
https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Then check if everything works properly.

Thanks

Hello alanperc,

My advice is to make a new clean install to your theme via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, try to disable all of these and leave just only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core files and exclude any conflicting plugins. After each theme update, you should make a full backup to your database.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Please check the permissions on your upload folder. More useful information here
https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions
http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-fix-file-and-folder-permissions-error-in-wordpress/
The second step is to make modifications to these parameters if needed
https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
You could ask your hosting provider to check these for you, or make the modifications for you if needed. They might have a recommended method in this matter.
Also disable all plugins and clear all caching before installing a demo to make sure the plugins do not interfere with the process.
If you have made all the above mentioned changes and the result is the same, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide all the necessary information (admin login, FTP access). Also paste a link to this topic so we can identify you.

Thanks

Hello bronco45,

First of all, thank you for your interest in our theme! Unfortunately, please keep in mind that you were not supposed to purchase the second license for the theme, sorry! Please notice that if you have one license purchased, you will have access to all the updates. Also, please notice that we do not recommend the automatic updates because it is not a safe way for updating your theme, every time. Our recommended way for updating your theme is via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case. You should follow all the steps from our documentation guide here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Also, please notice that before each theme update, you should make a full backup to your database, according to the following useful guide here -> http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-create-a-complete-wordpress-backup-for-free-with-backwpup/

Hope this helps!

Hi,

There should be no problems in accessing and saving theme panel settings, from the theme perspective. The theme has these requiremenets
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
These along with the guide provided previously should provide proper functionality.
I suggest you try a fresh theme install by FTP
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Use only theme plugins, deactivate all other plugins. Do not enter any custom code in the theme panel, or in the theme files. Deactivate any child theme you might be using.
Then heck if the issue is still present.

Thanks

Hi Simion:

I try this (from Adrian) and Works!!:
1. Download Newspaper from ThemeForest to your PC.
2. Unzip.
3. Open “Newspaper-tf” and unzip “Newspaper.zip”.
4. Rename the folder “Newspaper” to “Newspaper2”.
5. Upload “Newspaper2” by FTP to wp-content/themes/
6. Go to Themes in WordPress Admin Panel and activate the second Newspaper.
7. (IMPORTANT) Delete wp-content/themes/newspaper by FTP, not by WordPress Admin Panel.

Thanks!!!

Hi,

That probably means that the theme has not installed or updated properly. That option should be available for the article inline ad. A theme reinstall should fix the issue
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
This is a similar topic

> Do I still need to use that update patch @tagdivchick mentioned?

No. The most correct and safe way to update is update the theme via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Also remember to update the included plugins along with the theme, from the theme package.

Best way upgrade to wordpress 4.8.1 before upgrading the theme.

Howdy … I have no idea which site is on my profile here, sadly, so might have to peek at that 😉 I actually have a main business site which hasn’t been updated in years, as I’m building my own WP theme from scratch for first time since 2011 for various reasons, from Bootstrap 3.x. But I manage a news network which uses TagDiv themes, and our main news ‘parent’ online since 2000 is mix of static shtml with 100/100 pagespeed score, and then news platform running on WP, but with a semi-custom theme not running TD, due to fact we started that prior to TD being in business and way too much hacking to switch.

As general rule for hacks:
a) yes, if you update theme, they get over-written as common sense — if you edit functions.php and then update theme, it uploads new file, so old one is gone. So, common method is to keep track of changed files, and edits by line number, then re-apply to new theme, then upload new theme with the same hacks applied (FTP, and I use TextPad on Win10, or BBEdit on Mac).

b) what I’ve started to do, with this new theme from scratch project, is move all mods to a plugin. This allows me to keep hacks, security mods, speed mods, inserts, RSS hacks, etc. in “one place.” — This is useful for stuff you don’t want to change every time with TD or other themes, but can’t always address stuff you actually do hack. — For instance, I take out the login code from TD theme headers. Have to do that every time. I also remove the xmlrpc, pingback or any of that stuff. == but again, with WP, you can often create your own plugin with a function to ‘enqueue’ something to the WP header, and this gets inserted to WP header, same way the theme panel does, but if you put it in your own plugin (which is insanely easy to do), then it survives theme update.

Not sure that helps — but food for thought. Thanks for kind words.

Also, I stopped posting links to my sites here as they end up getting barrage of hack attempts due to popularity of TD themes and a few bad actors lurking here.

As to JSON, I’m just learning how to build that from scratch myself, for this new ‘in house’ theme project — so, guess what I’m doing this coming Saturday! 🙂

Hi,

It seems like the content inserted in the text element and then in the tabs has a spacing problem from what I can see
https://www.screencast.com/t/7zBMAL7kb5
The height of the element does not take into account the image size, that is how it seems. I have not seen this before, I could not say why this is happening. Either leave the empty spaces as it is now, or I see that placing a height for the text columns element works as well
https://www.screencast.com/t/3W8qfoib9ptC
The other problem that is happening is very unusual. Deactivating a plugin should not reset the theme activation. Something is not functioning properly with the theme or the database.
You could try a fresh theme install if possible, and use only theme plugins at first
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
The tagDiv composer will automatically activate itself when the theme is installed or updated.
Check if the issue is still happening. Make a full backup before, just to be safe.

Thanks

Hi,

The theme is fully tested and works properly. It does not contain any malware or redirects to other websites. Only use the theme downloaded from themeforest not from other sources, like Chris mentioned. If you checked the database with the security solutions provided by Chris, install the theme again and see if the problem is still happening
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Remove all other plugins except the ones that come with the theme, in the theme package. Do not use any custom code in the theme panel or directly in the theme files. Do not activate any child theme you might have.

Thanks
