Hello Bestigorek,
Please keep in mind that we recommend doing the theme’s update only via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. For more information about this method, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks.
Hello DeannaIsaacs,
I have checked your website and I saw that you are using the 6.2 version of the theme. Please notice that our product has evolved to the 7.3 version and I suggest you keeping up with this version if you want to achieve best results. Also, all the required plugins should have had the latest version of them (Visual Composer 4.12 and Social Counter 4.1). Also, please notice that the update must be through FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. After all of this advice, try to clear all your caches and test the theme again and check the results.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for the message!
Hello agoramt,
Please ensure that your theme updating has been made via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. Also, please try to use only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. Please try to increase the system status if you want to achieve best results according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Did you also update the tagdiv plugins via ftp at same time?
So true… 15 hours of ftp files parade against 5 minutes of quiet compression.
I’ll let you know if I find a plugin, combo of plugins, or query to perform the task.
Thank you!
Had to download 72,000 images the other day via FTP. I feel your pain 😉
Then stupidly remembered I could do a ‘backup’ from the server panel and ftp that into one of the other sites as gzip file.
Took a look in the folder and went ….. ouch. Not only all the oddball sizes, but stupid stuff like
main-image-600×450.jpg
main-image-600×450-1.jpg
Waaaah!!!!
I noticed I had no visual composer and, through looking into it on the forums, found that I’d need to update all my themes.
Updating through WP wasn’t working, so I FTPd into my site and renamed the old newspaper theme. Then returning to WP to upload the newer verison. That worked well until I go to my mainpage, which now states “Fatal error: Call to undefined function vc_map_get_attributes() in /home/dlisaacs/theautoreporter.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/vc_templates/vc_row.php on line 32”
IT IS VITAL I get my site back up and running!! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
HI
Thanks @Chris for your answer.
@Boke td_video_support.php is not available in wordpress editor, you need to login on the server via ftp, navigate to your-wp-install/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/included/wp-booster to get the file: http://screencast.com/t/EgBxQmYHgzu
Thanks!
Hello kreativewire,
Please ensure that you do not need to any additional license for our product. All of the plugins which come bundled with our theme, include the own license and you must not buy anything. So, first of all, please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme with the latest version of required plugins in order to achieve best results. Very important in this case is that you theme installing should have to be done using the FTP method because this is the surest method in this regard. For more information, please chek here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi Chris,
I hope you had a great weekend so far and again, thank you very much for your support.
I am not experienced with this theme at all, hence learning on the way.
Chris, if the Slider Revolution Plugin is active under the WordPress admin Plugins Section does that mean that the plugin is actually working? Just to be certain, it would be great to confirm that part.
Thank you!! I will investigate the FTP option further. So much to cover:-) Anna
Use the theme zip alone, not the “all files” zip.
Best method is to learn to use FTP, via FileZilla or something. Tricky first time, but then you have total control of uploads, you can easily make backups of your files, etc.
The example they linked to worked for me:
ref
http://screencast.com/t/RZLIOPUNdqh
but as also clearly stated in the linked thread, it may not work if certain plugins conflict and break the plugin entirely and what it tries to do — no way to make compatible with 1,000+ WP plugins out there.
So,
option
a) comment our or remove the section as previously indicated;
b) if does not work; then don’t use plugin
c) if you don’t use plugin, use my alternate suggestion
———
also as a tip from many users on themeforest and various theme support forums, avoid using the envato theme updater as more likely to break your site by doing partial or incomplete update of your theme. Best to always use FTP so you know 100% it is done properly every time for both theme and updated theme plugins.
Hi
best thing to do is install the plugin as per normal plugin installation practice.
WordPress docs: https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins
“activate” the plugin on the WordPress admin (not theme panel) > plugins panel. Under name of plugin click the activate link. It’s now “on.”
That’s it. It will now show as “activated” in your list of plugins.
You can ignore any messages printed by the plugin saying you need to register it. You only do that for a paid version to get support from the plugin author. With the free bundled version, you only get support from the theme developers when used with this theme.
Hope that helps 🙂

For me, I always install plugins via FTP, by uploading the plugin file to the wp-content/plugins/ folder directly. That way I know it’s properly installed. If it won’t turn on, you likely need to try reinstalling it via FTP.

Envato plugin NEVER works right, and almost nobody recommends it with a straight face.
Best to learn to use FTP.
a) forces you to remember to make backups
b) you keep local copies of prior versions in case you ever need to go back
c) limit risk of some funky plugin breaking the install, and then site goes down
seriously…. !
( I don’t work here … )
Hello fchang,
Please ensure that you have fully installed your theme via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. Also, if you need more assistance in this regard, please provide your website URL so I can inspect it closer the Top Bar menu. For more information about this feature, you should find here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/top-bar-templates/
Thanks.
Hello nairolf2013,
Until now we do not have any bad reports in this regard and this behaviour should not exist after this update because in the 7.3 version no major changes were made which may influence your traffic. Please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) and full FTP access so we can take a look over your setup page and your log so we can provide a more accurate response. Also, please provide the link of this topic so we can easily identify you.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello bvanrij,
Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 7.3) and also, the latest version of required plugins (Visual Composer 4.12 and Social Counter 4.1). This update should be made only via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. If you are using some untested plugins, please try to delete all of them and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. So, if your problem is still there after this advice, you should try to make a new clean install from scratch and then check the results.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks.
Hello dritanleka,
Please ensure that you are using the latest version of Visual Composer 4.12 in order to achieve best results in theme. Also, the update of these should be made only via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard. If you have a caching plugin, please try to clear all of your caches and test it again.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your message!
Hi,
You an try to access the files through the wordpress editor or through ftp directly.
The adsense code is provided by google. You need to create a new account and they will provide the code.
https://www.google.com/adsense/signup
Thank you!
When I use my current version, 7.1, want to update to a new version, my content disappears. (New version 7.3)
I just have my menu bar at the top. All the rest disappears.
I have already done an update via FTP and also via the Envato market plugin.
What’s wrong?
Fortunately, I kept getting my site back to a previous version. But I’d still like the updates installed.

Thanks in advance
Best regards
Nick
Well, i didn’t understand if i can do that directeley from wordpress… or i need to access throught FTP
Hi,
Please follow one of these methods to install the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
Thank you!
Hi,
We did not provide any answer to this topic as we do other topics where the proper solution is provided. There was no point in simply confirming Chris’ solution. The same answer would have been provided by us as well 🙂
If on EVERY update your theme breaks, then it means you are not doing it properly. Please use the ftp method as it’s the safest way of doing it. if you have customization done or a child theme please remove them and only test the main theme with the default theme code. I have checked your site and it seems you have the latest version and it seems to run properly so I;m nost sure what it is I should help with. Please let us know if you have further trouble and we will investigate it.
Also if you use a cdn or an untested caching plugin, that can also be the cause of the theme breaking after an update. Please make sure you use this guide to set up the cache plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ and reset cdn after each update.
Thank you!
Most common mistake is updating theme by ‘over writing’ vs deleting old folder and uploading new one; or uploading zip vs the unzipped folder; OR forgetting to ALSO upload all the new plugins included with the theme.
But this should work, generally
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Just remember NOT to try using the pokey Envato updater thing (never!!!!!) and always do via FTP, so you can LOOK at your folder and see WHAT you are actually uploading to server vs guessing/hoping/praying its right.
So, you might try my suggestions on ‘resetting’ so you can login, — or do clean install of theme/plugins.
Hello okgo87,
I have checked your website and I saw that you are using an old version of Newspaper (6.7). Please try to update the theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.3) if you want to achieve best results with it. (keep up with our latest updates). Also, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
For more information about theme update, please consult our documentation and you will have to do the update via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard, according on our recommendation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
