Hi,
I have uploaded the theme via FTP, then I have deleted the visual composer and reuploaded the visual composer from the plugin file and now the VC works perfectly!
Thank you

Best way to install Visual Composer is via FTP, but make sure to delete existing jscomposer folder first, make sure all your other plugins are off; make sure if you’re running anything like Wordfence you have patched it to work with WP 4.5.2, etc.

VC does work – on huge number of websites and huge number of themes. But, it can be pokey to get it installed.

Theme docs outline how to install and update, which is best place to start.

You do need to activate it from the plugins panel in WP, but you don’t need to activate a license for it if the ‘nag’ screen appears.

Not sure that helps. But it *does* work, just a little tricky. Not fault of theme, but the way VC works, oddly enough.

Hello The Learned Lizard,

I suppose that you are using the PHP7 version to our theme. Please notice that the theme is not yet compatible with php7. Some elements have become deprecated in the new version of PHP so if you want to use version 7 you can ignore these warnings but as the version 7 is not tested, we suggest reverting to version 6. Before switching to the PHP 6, please ensure that you have deactivated wp debug from wp-config.php core file like this -> http://screencast.com/t/iWr0W63LguQj and for more information about wp-config you should find in this documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress Please make sure that you have set them all the permissions for upload folder in your Cpanel/FTP.

Thank you!

Hi,

I want to copy the theme (wp included) to .fr via FTP in order to keep the same settings. What files should I copy?

Thank you for you quick reply.

However: The thumbs under block settings have always been on default and switched-on and I had (force) regenerated thumbnails before asking this question. The generated thumbs are on the server, I can see them via FTP but the theme does not display those.

Update the plugins via FTP from the plugins folder in your download from themeforest.

We are currently using NewsPaper Theme version 6.7 and want to upgrade to NewsPaper Theme version 7.0.1 We followed the steps for updating the theme using the FTP method from this link:

https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

After the upgrade the site breaks. The homepage does only shows our categories in the top left then the header for the site is shown. Seems like there is a CSS issue. Our child theme has only two files (style.css and functions.php). We are not sure why this is happening.

Hi,

@Thisguyhere,
It’s the same problem as above, Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Thenn check your homepage again without the plugins.

@Andrei
,
There is no other way to install a demo besides the theme panel. Please try to install a different demo and then install the classic blog. If this fails, maybe the customization you made broke some parts of the theme so please also do a clean install via ftp and start fresh. Your content will not be lost as it is kept in the database.

Thank you!

thanks, I tried that as well… but I uploaded into their file structure.

I wonder if I should re-install wordpress via FTP.

Silly question, but if I reinstall wordpress via FTP, will I lose all my posts and images? Or does it stay with my user name somehow.

I have contacted 1&1 as well.

FYI
always best to install via FTP, as you “know” it is uploaded properly and where.

Plugins have to go into the /plugins/ folder in /wp-content/ regardless if you rename /wp-content/ to something else

You can always check with your web hosting for support on using their particular setup also.

Hi

Please make sure that you have enabled all elements in Visual Composer settings: http://screencast.com/t/wijJbxUmyL6S clear the caches then test again. If you still can’t find new elements in VC editor try to update the theme via ftp as it’s the best way of making a clean update: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Thanks!

Hello MShayto9,

1)If you want to do automatically update, please notice that you have to use the Envato Toolkit. For more information about this regard, please check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-automatically-update-newspaper-theme/ Also, please notice that we recommend doing an update via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard.
2)Please notice that all your customizations from your panel (Custom CSS area box ->after your update, please re-save this from your panel) and panel settings will remain exactly the same because these were loaded in your database. Also, if you have another custom modifications through code, (for example in the child theme or theme files) all of these will be overwritten with the latest update. Usually, before updating, we recommend our customers to make a backup for all of the customizations because this is the safest way to not lose data.

Thanks.

Hi Bogdan. With all the issues surfacing all at once I’ve become somewhat jaded and frustrated. I have methodically followed the tutorials and nothing happened. Eventually I manually downloaded the new theme unpacked into a folder and then uploaded the Newspaper folder via FTP to then overwrote the appropriate folder on my server. Have eventually updated theme to 7. Set about changing look to Black Demo. More issues (It just has to be something I have configured wrong – dammed if I know). Still have issues with social icons not displaying correctly. Background black color not displaying at all. Web site is http://pigsfly.info. Following tutorial to create page and then use Visual Composer. More issues clicking an item does not install that item into page. Bob
