Hopefully this is easy to fix. When I tried uploading the zip it kept failing, so I uploaded the unzipped by FTP instead. Now I’m getting the broken theme error message on the theme selection screen saying ‘Template is Missing’. Any suggestions?
Likely good idea to check with your hosting provider, as that isn’t specifically theme related.
Also, I’ve found it actually works best to manually upload the theme files via FTP than to use the zip method due to sometimes “funky” permissions issues with different hosting providers. I’ve been using WP since 2006 (2005?) and the FTP method always works best, in my own experience, even now that we have our own web server.
This is likely not the culprit, but, for the zip, also make sure you’re only trying to install from the single theme file (Newspaper.zip) and not the “entire download” file (themeforest-XXXXXXX-newspaper.zip) which has the docs, plugins, changelog, PSD file, etc., as that won’t ever work.
The v4.5 Newspaper.zip file, btw, should be roughly 6.41MB (6,727,456 bytes).

Hi,
Yes, please send your FTP details and WP-admin details so we can check this at contact@tagdiv.com and also paste a link to this topic or specify your issues details.
Thanks
Ok. So I did everything which I had to do in regards to convert/ use custom fonts in Hindi.
I used custom fonts option and gave the link to .woff fonts. I did everything as mentioned in the tutorial, but still I do not see any changes. I even changed the font-face details in style.css with the code generated by webfont.
Not sure what to do.
I will be really grateful to you if you can please look into the issue and rectify it or let me know how to get it up and running.
If you want then I can provide you with my FTP details and WP-admin details as well. I am really frustrated and might lose a client of mine. Please assist.
Hi,
@jalmz Can you please provide provide wp-admin and ftp access so I can take a look? Please send send your wp-admin and ftp access login info at contact@tagdiv.com and specify details of your issue or send a link to this topic.
Thanks
Hi,
That patch it’s to update the theme to 4.5 version and contains only the new/modified files in 4.5 theme version. Note that it’s used only to update the theme from version 4.4 to 4.5.
If you want to update the theme you should use this method and manually upload all theme files to your server via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Thanks
Hi,
@Mr C
1. Please follow this topic, should find there the css you need to remove the white spaces on page: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/remove-white-space-between-blocks/#post-21229
2. I have checked your site and seems like you managed to add the leaderboard ad: http://screencast.com/t/IO5XkA7ki5N6
Please let me know if did refer to something else.
@monicacortes
Depends on the method you chose to update your theme. For example if you update using a patch you can check the changed files log and if changes haven’t been made to those files should work. Still the best way to update your theme is to make a back-up of your current theme and then update and overwrite the files via FTP so you would have to do the changes once again.
We will consider this though, and if more people request this we will try to implement it in future updates.
Thanks for the message!
You need to contact your web hosting provider as the php.ini file sits “above” your account; meaning it’s not part of the public root which is normally seen via FTP. Depending on your web hosting account type, you may be able to change that setting under your web hosting control panel. See the help info for your hosting account on how to edit hosting settings; it’s generally on the same screen where you would set things like an SSL cert, memory limit, and the like. It’s not part of WordPress or the theme.
Hi lucian.
I am the administrator but I dont know where to access this file. WOuld I need to go through my FTP CLient or can it be found through the editor?
Please help.
Mike.
Hi,
Should work, please also make sure you have installed the VC plugin from plugins folder within the files that came with the theme files, like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Are you using child theme, make sure you try this using the main theme also make sure you have updated the theme right and you have uploaded all files.
You can also try to make a backup of your current installation and re-upload theme files via FTP.
Thanks
Also, be sure you upload the theme which is just the theme files, and not the entire “everything” zip archive which has the theme AND the documentation, as this won’t work. Always safer to upload via FTP if you can. If using the WP panel and zip archive, make sure it’s just the theme only zip (on Themeforest you have choice of two files, just the theme, or everything…. if you upload the everything zip, it will give you server error).
Hope that helped! 🙂
Hi,
Yes you have to log in via FTP and look for the file following this path ..\wordpress\wp-content\themes\newspaper\includes\modules\module_modifier\td_module_blog.php
Thanks
I finally went from my test site to my new site today and everything worked out well except the AJAX doesn’t seem to work:
1 – I can’t type in the search box and have it automatically display results
2 – The “Load more” buttons don’t work on my homepage
3 – The slide out “More articles” box doesn’t work
Here’s my site: http://www.OralAnswers.com
Here’s my test site where AJAX is working… Both are on same server: http://www.teabear.com/sandbox
Here’s what I’ve tried on my new site:
1 – Disabled and re-enabled the theme
2 – Deleted the theme folder via FTP and re-uploaded it
3 – Deactivated nearly all of my plugins (caching, security, etc.)
Nothing seems to work… Please help!
Hi Emil, i installed couple of time but there is no change, i will try to add new article and if it goes wrong i will send you wp-admin and ftp access login informations.
Thanks so much.
Hi,
Please check if you properly added the entire code at the end of the functions.php file – http://screencast.com/t/GSWtbWpFG9G5
If you did and still receive that error please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com, specify the issue and provide wp-admin and ftp access so i can take a look.
Thank you, Emil G.
Hi,
Please try to reinstall the plugin, install the latest version from the plugin folder.
If this doesn’t work please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com , specify the issue and provide wp-admin and ftp access so i can take a look.
Thank you, Emil G.
Okay. That would be a problem 🙂
Maybe reinstall the theme, via FTP, to be safe.
If using a child theme you may need to switch to the main theme for update, then switch back to child theme, as some seem to do (I don’t use child theme methodology due to speed issues and gremlins).

(I generally don’t turn off my plugins, since I’m updating my theme via FTP and the stuff I’m using doesn’t cause dbase writes/crashes if the theme being updated quickly via FTP)
I do upgrade via FTP; simply over-write existing theme folder with new one.
Over write existing plugins with new ones.
Your mileage may vary.
You will need to upload new “clean” version of functions.php file via FTP to replace the bad version.
can you help me here i need to change this names, anf i have done and is not changing, ware on the theme are this title ot do it via ftp, or if yuo can help me i give the info to change..please.

hi my theme Version: 3.6 i want to upgrade to last version, i uploaded the files from FTP but it gave error!
how can i upgrade my newspaper theme?
You likely have a conflict between the methods being used.
For example when I upload a 745×483 30kb file (size on server; actual size is 24kb); the resize plugin I’m using (to make “larger” images only) along with functions quality setting of “50”, the resulting 700×357 thumb is 23.57kb on server, 1074×483 is 38.25kb; 326×235 is 10.74kb. “Actual” sizes are lower (I’m looking via my ftp tool.)
For example, the orig. 745×483 image is 24.1kb, but 28kb on disk. 30kb on unix server.
I found smushit didn’t help me.
mod_pagespeed does make my images progressive once they are cached (meaning the images seen in the page source have the pagespeed modified file names).
Thanks for reply, I previously activated child theme but synthesis allows me to activate one theme at a movement and therefore whenever i activate it, it throws an error in the dashboard.
I first created a number of fields like here under one group as you can see here.
Then i am inserted the code you provided in loop-single.php
// Set up your row, column, and tabs element
$to_echo = '[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_tabs]';
// Simplest possible example of getting ACF data, sub in yours
$data_1 = the_field('2g_network');
$data_2 = the_field('3g_network');
// Repeat these lines for each tab, making sure each tab has a unique id
$to_echo .= '[vc_tab title="The first tab" tab_id="tab_1"];
$to_echo .= $data_1;
$to_echo .= '[/vc_tab]';
$to_echo .= '[vc_tab title="The second tab" tab_id="tab_2"];
$to_echo .= $data_2;
$to_echo .= '[/vc_tab]';
// (You could wrap each block in an if to skip a tab if the data is empty)
// When you have all your tabs, close the elements
$to_echo .= '[/vc_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row]';
// We have to filter the whole string to make WP interpret the shortcodes
$to_echo = wpb_js_remove_wpautop($to_echo);
// Do whatever
echo $to_echo;
But now i don’t know what to do here on this screenshot.
I entered the custom fields on the post page but it’s not showing up.
And yes, i have FTP access of my site. Infact, i don’t have access to edit themes within dashboard due to my hosting strict security policy. That’s why, i was not able to take screenshot of code itself on the edit page of single loop.
Thanks again for support.
No problem. I’d love to help but prefer not to share contact info for the time being… Can you describe the steps you’re taking? Do you have a child theme set up and activated? Do you have FTP access to your site?
FYI, if you’re using a plugin with timthumb, it usually has a cache folder for creating the thumbs, and the folder “read/write permissions” must be 777; this will generally be reset when moving to new host to 755 or even 750. You can usually set this via ftp, by going to
> wp-content > plugins > yourplug > cache*
(*or “images” or whatever – see docs for plugin you’re using, or find the folder full of images)
Change cache (CHMOD; change command) to “777” so it’s fully writable. Then go back to page using the plug, and the images should be written properly.
The theme doesn’t use timthumb.
