Hi,

I’m checking on your website from desktop, and it’s still not working. The ajax menu items are unresponsive and there is an error -> https://prnt.sc/QOAtiQgYCdcL

Such issues could be caused by caching and optimization plugins. I see you are using the Fastest cache plugin. I suggest checking what options are active in that plugin and maybe try deactivating the ones for the javascript (minify and combine), to see if the issue is solved. It’s most likely an issue caused by the optimization.

Thank you!

Hi Simion,

thx four your reply. Just a quick heads-up for your records, no urgent action needed from my side.

The self-hosted video modal in Newspaper (the td-image-video-modal trigger that opens #td-video-modal / .td-vm-wrap and plays the video) does not work correctly together with WP Rocket when its standard optimizations are active (Remove Unused CSS, Minify CSS/JS, defer, and Delay JavaScript execution).

Two separate effects:
On desktop, RUCSS strips the .td-vm-wrap CSS rules because the modal markup only exists after the click, so it renders unstyled and the video drops into the page flow instead of opening as an overlay. Adding .td-vm-wrap to the WP Rocket CSS safelist fixes this.

On real mobile devices (not desktop emulation), the modal does not open at all on tap. This one seems to be on the JS side, likely tdAjaxVideoModal.js being held back by Delay JavaScript execution so the delegated click handler isn’t bound on the first tap. With ?nowprocket everything works.

I know WP Rocket may count as an untested third party plugin on your end, but given how common this combination is in the wild, I just wanted to pass the details along in case it’s useful for compatibility.

Thanks and best regards

Hi,
I will forward this to our developers, and they will check it out.
Also, I want to let us know that using a mobile page/template will still load teh tagDiv Composer and cloud library (because those are used to create those pages and cloud templates for the mobile version). Normally, this option should be used when you need to have different content on mobile pages and mobile templates, maybe a smaller page with fewer elements, blocks, and for a different layout. Having the same layout and content will be better to use the responsive version, instead of the mobile page/template.

Here are a few additional recommendations you can try. For some users, all themes work without issues, while for others, only certain ones function properly. This can vary depending on the extra plugins in use, as well as any caching or optimization plugins installed.
-> Footer delayed load https://prnt.sc/FS34hBno40sx (under the theme panel > footer > footer delayed load)
-> MINIFY INLINE CSS and AGGREGATE INLINE CSS – https://prnt.sc/en14t6CQChM- (under the theme panel > block settings> inline css)
-> Don’t load on mobile/desktop, this option is only on the cloud header for HEADER MENU https://prnt.sc/udlAW4icvSPP on HEADER MENU STICKY https://prnt.sc/9pKnilQdWyex on MOBILE MENU https://prnt.sc/ff7fRQvTnaXt and on MOBILE MENU STICKY https://prnt.sc/Mm-4mbC4WB68
-> Flex Blocks cache – https://forum.tagdiv.com/use-flex-blocks-cache-option/
Also, it is recommended to use a good cache plugin and even Cloudflare (CDN)
Thank you!

Hello,

“Performance Optimization
Among the most anticipated features are options to minify and aggregate inline CSS of blocks, accessible directly from the Theme Panel. Additionally, you can now hide the mobile menu and mobile search functions, offering a cleaner user experience on mobile devices.” – here is how you can enable those options:
-> Footer delayed load https://prnt.sc/FS34hBno40sx (under the theme panel > footer > footer delayed load)
-> MINIFY INLINE CSS and AGGREGATE INLINE CSS – https://prnt.sc/en14t6CQChM- (under the theme panel > block settings> inline css)
-> Don’t load on mobile/desktop, this option is only on the cloud header for HEADER MENU https://prnt.sc/udlAW4icvSPP on HEADER MENU STICKY https://prnt.sc/9pKnilQdWyex on MOBILE MENU https://prnt.sc/ff7fRQvTnaXt and on MOBILE MENU STICKY https://prnt.sc/Mm-4mbC4WB68
-> Flex Blocks cache – https://forum.tagdiv.com/use-flex-blocks-cache-option/

“The Newspaper Theme has leveled up its performance by optimizing the Theme Panel’s color settings through CSS variables. Moreover, JavaScript files will only be loaded when they are needed, which should noticeably improve the website’s speed.” – yest this is apply as long you are using cloud tenmplates, so if you do not have the tagDiv STandard pack plugin in used (this is loading all css and js even if is not need), then it will load only the js and css that will be used on that page/template.

Also, it is recommended to use a good cache plugin and even Cloudflare (CDN)

Thank you!

My site is abysmally slow – but I’d like to work on the actual issues before I add a caching plugin. I’ve come across many speed articles and supposed Newspaper Optimization – but I can’t figure out what is current, or where any of things mentioned are.

Performance Optimization

The Newspaper Theme has leveled up its performance by optimizing the Theme Panel’s color settings through CSS variables. Moreover, JavaScript files will only be loaded when they are needed, which should noticeably improve the website’s speed.

What are the instructions for this? I have no clue where to click or what to do – AI lies constantly and makes things up. What is a step by step guide to gain the advantages claimed above?

https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ – is this still accurate?

I’d love an updated step by step list on how to speed up newspaper before I add a plugin to do so.

Hi,
This situation is usually related to the JS code that should be executed to display the mobile menu, so this should be added as an exception from teh cache.
I see that you have a standard header, so there is a smaller problem, because the code on the standard pack has a single JS file, which is not on the elements as the cloud templates. The file that should be excluded is tagdiv_theme.min.js also another file that can be excluded is the theme file for js tagdiv-theme.js and minify version tagdiv-theme.min.js

Calin

Hi,

Could you please provide a bit more detail about the issue? Are you referring to the login option in the menu not working?
If so, in most cases this is related to cache or optimization settings. Please try the following steps to identify the cause:
Disable all cache and CSS/JS optimization plugins and test again.
This includes options that minify, combine, or defer CSS and JavaScript files.
If the login works with caching disabled, re-enable the cache plugin and carefully review the CSS and JS optimization settings, as these options are usually responsible for this type of issue.
Another possible cause is a plugin conflict. To test this:
Activate only the Newspaper plugins and check if the login works.
If it does, enable the remaining plugins one by one, testing after each activation, until you identify which plugin causes the login to stop working.

Hi Colin

I solved this by adding this script code in header part.

wp-content/plugins/jetpack/_inc/blocks/tiled-gallery/view.js?minify=false&ver=15.3.1″ id=”jetpack-block-tiled-gallery-js

Hi,

It will be need to use a good cache plugin that can optimize the css. The most recommended is WP Rocket cache plugin. But there are other cache/optimization plugins that can be used, just to have the option to minify and remove unused css.

Thank you!

Calin
tagDiv Staff

Hi,
Please try with a better cache plugin, for example, you can try WP-Optimize https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-optimize/ or if you can, a pro cache plugin like WP Rocket (wp super cache is ok, but it does not minify the code, provides only cache).

Calin

Hi,
The theme has only a single js file and that is on a different path:
wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/js/tagdiv-theme.min.js
The part for the mentioned js files is from the tagDiv Composer plugin
wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/js/tagdiv_theme.min.js also, the theme do not have a file like tdb-site.js
My recommendation: make sure that you have the latest theme version 12.73, and in case you are using a child theme, set the main theme.
Check when you are logged in and no cache and minify code is applied to see if the same error appears.
For the mobile version, you need a very good cache plugin.
You can also use the tagDiv mobile theme plugin, which will change the layout but will provide very good results – https://forum.tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-introduction/

Hi,
To get the best performance with LiteSpeed Cache on the Newspaper theme, start by selecting the “Advanced” preset in the settings. Then, turn on basic caching options like Cache Logged-in Users and Cache Comment Form.

After that, go to the HTML, CSS, and JS settings, and enable minify and optimization options to speed up your site even more.
Thank you!

Hello!

The newest theme update doesn’t include any feature to decrease your page speed.
Check all these requirements for the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Limit the number of backups: https://app.screencast.com/M5Wco6Td6nymr
Please note that page speed is not covered by the support team: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-support/
I recommend you use fewer features on the page so there will also be fewer requests.
Improving page speed in WordPress is crucial for providing a better user experience and optimizing your website for search engine rankings. Here are some tips to help you enhance your WordPress site’s page speed:

Optimize Images: Compress images before uploading them to your WordPress site. You can use plugins like WP Smush or EWWW Image Optimizer to automatically optimize images without losing quality.

Utilize Caching: Implement caching to reduce server load and speed up page loading times. WordPress caching plugins like WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache can generate static HTML files of your pages to serve users instead of dynamically generating them each time.

Minify CSS and JavaScript: Minify your CSS and JavaScript files to remove unnecessary characters and reduce file sizes. This can be done manually or through plugins like Autoptimize or W3 Total Cache.

Enable GZIP Compression: Enable GZIP compression on your server to reduce the size of files sent from your server to users’ browsers. Most hosting providers offer GZIP compression, but you can also enable it through plugins like WP Rocket or W3 Total Cache.

Optimize Database: Regularly clean up and optimize your WordPress database to remove unnecessary data and improve performance. You can use plugins like WP-Optimize to automate this process.

Limit External Requests: Minimize the number of external requests your website makes by reducing the use of external scripts and widgets. Each external request adds overhead to your page’s loading time.

Enable Lazy Loading: Implement lazy loading for images, videos, and iframes so that they are only loaded when they are visible on the user’s screen. This can significantly reduce initial page loading times.

Optimize Server Response Time: Choose a reliable hosting provider with fast server response times. Consider using a content delivery network (CDN) to serve your content from servers closer to your users.

Regularly Update Plugins and Themes: Keep your WordPress core, plugins, and themes updated to the latest versions to ensure compatibility with the latest performance optimizations and security patches.
Ads can significantly impact the speed of your WordPress website since they often involve loading external resources and scripts. You can try to limit the number of ads, optimize ad sizes and formats, and implement lazy loading on your ads.

By following these tips, you can significantly improve the page speed of your WordPress website, leading to better user engagement, higher search engine rankings, and overall improved performance.

Hey,

I am sharing you my WP Rocket settings and I think they might be useful for you:

ON THE FILE OPTIMISATION TAB
1. Activate Minify CSS Files
2. Optimise CSS Delivery > Remove unused CSS with these exclusions:
(.*).tagdiv-type(.*)
(.*).bhcrow-(.*)
3. Minify Javascript Files
4. Load Javascript Defered with these exclusions:
\/jquery(-migrate)?-?([0-9.]+)?(.min|.slim|.slim.min)?.js
5. Delay Javascript Execution with these exclusions:
\/jquery(-migrate)?-?([0-9.]+)?(.min|.slim|.slim.min)?.js(\?(.*))?( |’|”|>)
tagdiv_theme.min.js
tdTrendingNow.js
tdPopupModal.js
tdBlocksArray
hammer.min.js
tdbMenu.js
tdLoadingBox.js
tdb_p_autoload_vars
blockClass
tdAjaxCount.js
tdTabbedContent.js
tdStickyRow.js
tdSmartSidebar.js
OneSignalSDK

Important – delaying Javascript will make your ads load after any movement on the page so if you just reload the page they will not be loaded as soon as you move anything on the page it will load them immediately. For me this isn’t a problem.

ON THE MEDIA TAB
1. Activate Enable for images
2. Activate Enable CSS for background images
3. Exclude your logo
4. Activate Add missing file dimensions
5. Activate self host fonts

ON THE PRELOAD TAB:
1. Activate preload
2. Enable link preloading
3. Prefetch these:
//fonts.googleapis.com
//www.googletagmanager.com
//www.googletagservices.com
//tpc.googlesyndication.com
//use.typekit.net
//netdna.bootstrapcdn.com
//www.google-analytics.com
//ajax.googleapis.com
4. Preload fonts – /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/icons/newspaper.woff

ON THE DATABASE TAB
Enable everything without scheduling auto cleanup

ON THE HEARTBEAT TAB
Enable it and make everything reduced

Important – if you are self hosting your site on nginx you can enable this https://github.com/SatelliteWP/rocket-nginx – this enables Nginx to serve directly previously cached files without calling WordPress or any PHP

Important – if you are self hosting your site on nginx you can enable FastCGI and Redis (use redis cache plugin and nginx helper). When it comes to FastCGI MAKE SURE TO ENABLE SEPARATE CACHE FOR MOBILE AND DESKTOP OTHERWISE IT WILL WORK BADLY!

Important – if you have a large installation and you notice that your queries become slow (e.g. search page takes a lot of time to load or non-cached pages load for more than 1-2 seconds) you can buy Scalability Pro and Super Speedy Search from here https://www.superspeedyplugins.com/shop/ for me this plugins changed the way the theme worked immensely. My non-cached pages loading time dropped form 10 seconds down to 1-2 seconds.

Important – WPRocket offers a plugin that converts all your images to webp format and this is also crucial for your page speed. Their plugin works well for my site.

I hope this is useful for you!

Hi there,

I’m encountering a caching issue when it comes to not loading the Desktop Header on Mobile and vice versa.
I’m using the LiteSpeed Cache plugin and the following situations occur:

  • Once I enable “Don’t load on mobile” for the Desktop Header (or “Don’t load on desktop” for the Mobile one), with all my custom configurations enabled in LiteSpeed, it happens that either the Desktop Header is no longer visible on desktop as well, or the Mobile Header disappears altogether.
  • Using the “View Site Before Optimization” button in the LiteSpeed Debug section, everything seems to work properly. The Header is visible on both Desktop and Mobile.
  • Thus, I tried excluding any CSS / JS files of the theme or TD plugins, one by one, to identify where the problem could be coming from. However, that didn’t help.
  • Then, I disabled all the settings under “Page Optimization” (Minify, Combine, etc.) one by one. Even with all the settings disabled, the problem persists, with the Header showing only on Desktop or only on Mobile.
  • So, while using the “View Site Before Optimization” feature gives good results, on the other hand, disabling all optimization settings doesn’t help.
  • I also tested “View Site Before Cache” and again the problem seems to go away.
  • In this regard, I moved on to disabling the settings in the “Cache” section, starting with all the other features except the standard “Enable Cache”. Nothing helped though…!
  • Furthermore, I disabled the last remaining setting, “Enable cache”, and that indeed solved the problem, with the Header displaying correctly, on Desktop and Mobile.
  • I started re-enabling all the custom options in “Page optimization” (Minify, Combine, etc.), leaving only Cache disabled and it seems that the issue no longer occurs. So, this shows that this feature in the TagDiv Header (“Don’t load on mobile / desktop”) conflicts with LiteSpeed cache.

I’m wondering if there is a solution that would allow me to properly use this feature in the TagDiv Header together with caching inside LiteSpeed. For instance, would there be a way to exclude the header from being cached by LiteSpeed or something like that?

Thank you in advance for your support!

Kind regards,

Hi there,
I am reaching out to you if you are aware of any recent updates (end of october / november) that could have affected SEO / search results on google? Have you heard anything by any chance? My website got deindexed from google around that time.

Would you have a tutorial on your documentation about how to optimise the website, minify css, etc?

Thank you in advance for any tips.

It looks like the CSS that sets the background color and the font for the submenu is missing. It should be in the theme stylesheet here https://prnt.sc/9WGdC_1WJb1b Mine is on the right, and in yours on the left it’s missing. I see the stylesheet is minified, but that doesn’t normally remove code from the file.

You could just add that CSS https://pastebin.com/4fWUd1im in the theme panel. It will fix the issue https://prnt.sc/zE9KL8ni4_nN Not sure why its missing from there. The theme stylesheet contains it by default, and minifying the stylesheet should not remove actual code from it.

Thank you!

I really didnt have chance to test it with WPRocket, I am using WP Total cache, didnt have any issues.

I tried to ask chatgpt for possible solutions, and this is the answe I got:

Exclude Cache for Shortcodes: In WPRocket settings, go to Cache and add the page URL or shortcode to the Never Cache URL(s) section.

Defer JS: Enable the Defer JavaScript option in File Optimization to delay JS loading and avoid conflicts.

Disable Minification: Sometimes minification messes with complex JS or shortcodes. Try disabling Minify CSS/JS files in File Optimization.

Clear Cache: If you’re updating posts often, make sure to clear the WPRocket cache to avoid serving stale data.

Check for JS Errors: Open the console (right-click > Inspect > Console) to see if any errors pop up, especially when loading posts.

Hopefully in one of these you will find your solution

Hey there!

I am struggling with a problem that causes my header main menu to disappear on cached pages some times.

Can you please help me find the cause of the problem or what I should exclude in WP Rocket?

The problem is strange because it happens rarely on some pages – currently you can check this url https://eurocom.bg/2025/01/16/magdalinchev-parlamentat-pravi-kakvoto-si-iska/ and right now the main menu is missing there and I can’t find the cause of this problem.

I have minify CSS and Javascript options enabled, load javascript and delay javascript enabled too.

Best regards!
