- NewspaperHow to Make the Site Faster
Hello,
I would like to express interest for this too since it seems important for SEO:
1. Optimize Your Largest Contentful Paint Element
– Exclude it from lazy load.
Thank you
I have a background image set on the row which has my header logo. I have optimized it several times, and its size is only 39kb. I have WP rocket which improved the page speed a little bit. But the background image always is the longest to load. Is there any suggestion to make it faster?
Thank You!
Zac 🙂
After updating the Newspaper theme, install and activate tagDiv Standard Pack and tagDiv Composer. This will keep your old design working.
Optional: Then you can start building/redesigning your website templates using tagDiv Cloud Library. Once you’re done with all required templates creation. You can enable them from the theme panel and choose to deactivate tagDiv Standard Pack plugin and optimize your website for better speed and performance.
P.S. If you are using a child theme, you need to update it as well. (especially functions.php file)
I hope you will find this helpful.
Hello!
Here on the waterfall you can see that you have 2 links that are eating a lot of time: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/hinditech4u.com/XKdAQ16i/
You will have to check where those are coming from and see how they can be optimized.
Thank you!
Hello!
I recommend you this guide in order to see what are the options in optimizing your images: https://kinsta.com/blog/optimize-images-for-web/ as for the what images, you can see that in GTMetrix here: https://www.screencast.com/t/wVLN6VP47EA on the waterfall tab you will see all the images that need to be taken a look at.
I hope this was helpful!
Thank you!
Can you give me a tip how to optimize my images and to identify which ones need optimizing? Looking at that page and your arrows, are they the jpg or other photo-type files in the list? I just upload 1200px jpegs as recommended.
Thanks.
I just did a theme update to 11.2 and turned off the backups of settings. It made a huge difference immediately on both staging and production. On production, the size of td_011_settings was at 907862, and is now at 91015. On staging, where the content is slightly different and where I took additional steps, the size went from 907922 down to 1124. The additional steps were to turn off backups, export the theme settings, reset the theme settings, and import the theme settings, and run WP-Optimize on the tables between these steps.
In all, I’d say the ability to turn off the backups made a big difference.

The article in my cloud was created for the mobile version and for the computer https://prnt.sc/1q3d7bh https://prnt.sc/1q3dw6h https://prnt.sc/1q3efsf https://prnt.sc/1q3et7s
But on a mobile device, the mobile version is displayed once, and another time, the non-optimized version is displayed.

I have created a template for an article separately for the computer and separately for the phone (I deleted the excess). Also, 2 templates for the main page have been created – a computer and a mobile version.
But the main thing is that the articles are sometimes displayed on the phone in the same way as on the computer. Mobile template is not included. https://dip.org.ua/
This home is not optimized https://prnt.sc/1pqkx39
And this article is not optimized https://prnt.sc/1pqlckz
And this is how the news and the main page should look like on the phone. https://prnt.sc/1pqlve8 https://prnt.sc/1pqm9ox
But the phone very often displays a non-optimized version. With what it can be connected?

Hello!
That is because of your pixel settings and very big images. As you can see here in the waterfall tab: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.elpirata.pe/Q6zXXMwy/ The issue is not coming from the Newspaper Theme. https://www.screencast.com/t/SVIOonKy1GIh Please optimize your website and let us know the results.
Thank you!
Hello!
Yes, you need to optimize images in order to improve your page speed https://www.screencast.com/t/cWXH1NpZXbM3
Thank you!
Hello!
I have inspected your website, and as you can see here on the waterfall: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/thefederal.com/k4yJR6ow/ Your loading issue is not coming from the Newspaper Theme.
It is coming from unoptimized images, a video that is taking more than 5 seconds to load and it doesn’t.
Please take a look and make sure that everything is optimized and working properly.
Thank you!
Hello, the fonts take a long time to load in the theme and it does it externally, I uploaded a custom font and it also takes time to load, as I do to lower the loading time of the fonts and only load the one that I have uploaded to the theme.
Hello!
As you can see here on the waterfall the issue on your website is because of the images that are not optimized: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/jazzjournal.co.uk/zwdffVzJ/
Thank you!
Hello!
As you can see here on the Waterfall: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.reallyfedigital.com/p4J3GFqT/ You have to optimize your images. Some of them are not even loading, which can cause complications on a page speed report.
Take care of the images and you should be very pleased with the result!
Thank you!
Hello!
That can be done using external plugins. WP-Rocket or Autoptimize is what a lot of our users use to use.
Thank you!
Hi rinkdemi, I think that this font is the default one from browser and this is usually, display until the one set in the theme it is load.
Some tips will be to preload the fonts, this can be done using some cache/optimize plugins, or adding the code in functions.php (it is indicate to use child theme for this) -> https://www.infophilic.com/get-almost-100-pagespeed-newspaper-theme/#preload-newspaper-theme-fonts.
Also another method that it has good results it is to use a custom font, set it as general and disable the rest of the fronts, like google fonts … -> https://i.imgur.com/78NY2Yn.png -> https://i.imgur.com/YfPMFNk.png -> https://i.imgur.com/1KFt8YN.png
I hope this will help you!
Let me know the results!
…but the server-side caching is still activated.
In the last 6 month I have migrated my website from Newsmag to Newspaper and I have optimized all 54k images. All images have webp pendants (currently not activated) and I have followed all your recommends (here in the forum) to improve the page speed.
But the problem is the LCP and FCP. I don’t know what I can do more to improve it to pass the web vitals.
I don’t have to use Ezoics Leap. I can also use wprocket or something else what you recommend.
Thanks
Andre
Ah.. OK.
I’m thinking if I change the size in media to suit the posts listed on the categories page, the photo then may appear differently in the ‘Top posts’ in the sidebar, and differently on featured posts on the home page, and on other parts of the website where the container size is different.
Can you recommend an image size that will look uniformly attractive across most parts of this website theme, please? Perhaps I will need to change all photos to this size, so it is quite important to get an optimized size for all.
Many thanks
Hi,
have you never think to add an option on “Single Post Bg Featured Image” in TagDiv Composer to add a <link “preload”> in head for the background image?
The <link> tag must have an “imagesrcset” too, as explaned here https://web.dev/preload-responsive-images/
This can optimize LCP of WebVitals
Thanks
Fabrizio

Hey
I am using Newspaper theme on my news blog, but most of my images are broken and not downloading properly while using the website.
I am using Wp rocket & Short Pixel Plugin to optimize website, You can check it by going through this Techicians.com
Thanks
Hello!
Please note that in a website pages speed usually the theme is mostly 50% of the actual factor. Content, Images, Design, Host, everything is affecting your website. There are plenty of users that run Newspaper Theme and get more than 90% page speed. As you can see here on your waterfall: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.technofusions.com/sxy5EHpo/ The page speed is firstly and mainly dragged down by the images that you have. Please optimize the images on your website and re-test. From my opinion usually the images are the biggest factor that an drag you down in page speed.
Thank you!
