Hi tagDiv Team,

I am reaching out on behalf of Tendences.lv, a Latvian news and lifestyle portal that currently contains approximately 6,000 articles. Over time, while testing various themes, templates, and plugin combinations, our website has become increasingly heavy and slow.

Despite using optimization tools such as WP Rocket, our Google PageSpeed Insights scores remain low—approximately 60% on mobile and 75% on desktop. Most concerning is the fact that we are now receiving warnings about poor Core Web Vitals across the entire site, with Google Search Console recommending improvements for all pages.

Additionally, we have accumulated over 6,000 RSS feed URLs, which are currently being indexed, but do not lead to actual content pages. Google is now flagging these and requesting their removal from the index.

Given these issues, I have the following questions:

Is there a way to fully reset our WordPress theme and related settings, so we can start fresh with lightweight templates for each view (mobile, desktop, etc.)—ideally restoring WordPress and the theme to default without excess custom code or data?

If a full reset is not possible, could your team assist us in cleaning and optimizing the site (both technically and structurally)? If so, could you please provide a rough estimate of the cost for such work?

We are looking for a sustainable solution that would allow us to improve speed, pass Core Web Vitals, and resolve the indexing issues long-term.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
Aldis

Hi,
This situation depending on the elements you are using on your pages and templates, how long they are, how many elements are used …
Also, the adsense ads have n major impact on pagespeed, the only what to resolve it will be to use a delay o js.
If you can provide a link to your website I can check it and try to provide some suggestions.
Thank you!

Hello!

If both are tied into the same script right now, that’s just how your site is currently structured — it’s not a limitation of AdSense or CMPs themselves.

They seem to be from the cache folder. Please check the full URL from the Pagespeed Insights.

Please note that page speed is not covered by the support team: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-support/

Thank you for understanding!

I understand what you’re saying, but I’ve done it all.

There is no way to delay Adsense Ads without delaying CMP at the same time, because both are linked to the same code.

On the other hand, I don’t understand why I have warned in pagespeed of lack of optimizations in css, when they are active in wp rocket.

Make sure you’ve tried all the optimization suggestions from here:

Limit the number of backups: https://app.screencast.com/M5Wco6Td6nymr
Google AdSense and CMP scripts (especially Google’s own CMP) are notorious for slowing down mobile performance on tools like PageSpeed Insights. You mentioned trying a timeout or “run on scroll” for JavaScript. While that helps ads, it’s problematic for CMP. As advice: Let the CMP load first, but delay ad-related JavaScript. Delay ad scripts, improve First Contentful Paint (FCP), and still show ads. Another workaround here could be to use data-block-on-consent for Ads. Please eliminate Unused CSS with PurgeCSS or WP Rocket Add-ons. Enable “Remove Unused CSS” if not already on.
In the WP Rocket -> Delay Javascript execution, you can add:
adsbygoogle.js
gpt.js
googletagmanager.com
googlesyndication.com
Any js code can be added here: https://app.screencast.com/uDYjK7nL0vKG8
I hope that helps you!

Hi,

I am facing several optimization issues, where I use everything that is recommended, such as Wp Rocket plugin for caching, etc.

The problem is that on mobile the score is always low where it is given reason for css problems, etc., and from what I see, the biggest problem is google ads and its cmp.

I don’t know how to solve it, I’ve tried timeout or no scroll, but that’s very negative, especially if you put java to run in the scroll, because I need google’s cmp to appear first. What to do?

Example: https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-osmelhoresdoces-com-crepes-com-doce-de-leite/qnk8goyjar?form_factor=mobile

Hello!

Thank you for your feedback — we completely understand the importance of a high PageSpeed Insights score. Our theme is built following WordPress best practices and is optimized to perform well out of the box.

To achieve the best performance, we recommend:

– optimizing images (e.g. using WebP and compression),

– enabling lazy loading,

– using a caching plugin (like WP Rocket or LiteSpeed Cache),

and implementing a CDN for faster delivery of static assets.
Useful guides for optimization are here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/wp-rocket-and-newspaper-theme-optimization-guide/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/autoptimize-install-configuration/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
Check all these requirements for the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Limit the number of backups: https://app.screencast.com/M5Wco6Td6nymr

If you are still disappointed about our theme, you can request a refund here: https://themeforest.net/refund_requests/new

Hello,

I’m contacting you about the FlexBlock2 image on mobile.

I’ve tried everything to improve my page speed insights score but I’m still stuck on this element on mobile.

Here are the details:
Element identified as “Largest Contentful Paint” 2 850 ms
div.td-module-container > div.td-module-thumb > a.td-image-wrap > span.entry-thumb

PageSpeed Insights link

Would you have a solution or a trick to improve the loading of this flex block? I’ve tried everything but I can’t get it to work. I’ve tried several caching systems etc. I’ve already spent a lot of time on it and I can’t seem to sort it out.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,
I would like to know how I can resolve these accessibility issues in PageSpeed:
– The background and foreground colors don’t have an adequate contrast ratio.
– Low-contrast text is difficult or impossible for many users to read. Using recognizable link text improves the experience for users with low vision.

Additionally, I also have a CLS issue associated with this message: Media element with no specific size: Aperturas con negras para jugadores de estilo posicional 1

Thank You simchris for your response.

let me try with this redirect script. If its not working, will try further.

As well, I hate plugins which will create unnecessary problems and compatibility issues / conflicts.

Always I prefer scripts to solve the issue 🙂 .

I have only 4 plugins excluding NewsPaper plugins and got 100% score in PageSpeed Insights.

Thanks

Hello Niclas!

The page loading speed can depend on many factors, and each website is unique in this regard. External and internal factors can be important for your page speed.
External factors include server speed, whether you are using CDN, and the external resources loaded by your website, such as ads, fonts, and tracking scripts like Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Twitter Analytics, Hotjar, and so on.
Internal factors: the number of elements on the page, image size, image formats, whether you are using mobile-optimized layouts, console errors, whether you are using the Standard Pack plugin, and whether you are using a PRO demo or a standard one.
We optimized the theme but not the demo content. We did not find it necessary because our clients don’t use the data from our demos, only the design that can be easily improved to the new rules of the page speed tools. If you do not use some plugins for optimization, you cannot fix it from any theme.
You can get an excellent score with any demo you use: https://www.infophilic.com/get-almost-100-pagespeed-newspaper-theme/
Check this topic as well: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/score-100100-pagespeed-with-newspaper-wordpress-theme/

Hello!

I’ve checked the websites and I can not see any visible differences. If I check the pagespeed score: I see an increased score for accessibility and the Best Practices on https://lngqa.wpengine.com/ and the Performance and SEO decreased.
Maybe you lost some optimization you made before.
For every update, we always recommend the following:
-> First of all, please make sure you have a backup.
-> Please deactivate all the non-tested plugins with our theme before updating.
-> Update WordPress, PHP, the theme, and plugins to the latest version: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/.
-> Check all these requirements for the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
1. We didn’t add anything that can affect our customer’s page speed score. Here you can see all the changes from the latest update: https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-changelog/
We have customers that reach the 100% score with our theme and they never stop updating the theme and plugins.
2. Did you limit the number of backups: https://app.screencast.com/M5Wco6Td6nymr? https://forum.tagdiv.com/what-is-ajax-preloading/ Check this thread: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/crashing-sql-server-due-to-excessive-requests/
3. We add improvements and fixes in each update.

Hello,

To increase page speed, I recommend checking which thumbnails you are using on your blocks. You might want to avoid having all of them enabled and optimize and regenerate images. You can use the EWWW Image Optimizer for image optimization and the OMGF plugin for fonts. Also, you can use the WP Rocket plugin.
Also, I recommended using cloud templates for posts, categories, and so on Flex blocks instead of blocks 1 to 25 and disabling the tagdiv Standard pack plugin.

Hello,

Please disable the wp super cache because you need there a strong cache plugin, like WP ROCKET OR Litespeed cache.
As I said, please disable the AMP because it is deprecated and no longer used.
After you run to optimize the images, you need to use this to regenerate the thumbs -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbs-on-modules-and-blocks/ and use this option for blocks

Hello,

I checked your website, and you have a lot of errors.
First, I saw that you use the AMP plugin, I recommend disabling it because it is deprecated https://developer.bigcommerce.com/docs/storefront/wordpress/platform-integration/enabling-amp
I just tested your website, and I saw that you have a lot of scripts for ads https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-scopefeed-com/nhdzflbmj5?form_factor=desktop
You need to use a plugin, such as the WP Rocket plugin, to reduce and optimize requests. Additionally, consider using the EWWW Image Optimizer for image optimization and the OMGF plugin for font optimization.

Hello,

I am experiencing the following issues with my WordPress theme and would like to request support:

Slow Site Loading and Performance Issues

Website: https://scopefeed.com/
Desk https://prnt.sc/Pm8w1k7V_SwB
Mobile https://prnt.sc/ymktywsdD_sM

I receive “Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)” warnings in speed tests.
My Speed Index is also significantly high.
These negative results in Google PageSpeed and similar tools are affecting user experience.
Recommended Plugins and Settings

I have installed WP Super Cache as recommended by the theme support team.
I followed the setup instructions provided at https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
I also configured my Cloudflare settings as detailed in the theme documentation at https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
Ongoing Problems

Despite these configurations, I am not seeing a notable improvement in my PageSpeed scores, especially concerning LCP and Speed Index.
The site remains slow to load.
Mobile View Issue

On some devices, and occasionally even on my own computer, the site displays the mobile version instead of the desktop version.
This occurs randomly, suggesting there might be a caching or theme conflict.
I have attached a screenshot of the Google PageSpeed results for reference.

Could you please assist me in troubleshooting these issues? Are there additional cache, Cloudflare, or theme settings I need to check or adjust? I would also appreciate your guidance on resolving the mobile view problem.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards.

Thanks. very weird. I’ve been using the same minifier for decade so not seen stuff go missing before. I even have stuff like Pagespeed ‘off’ during upgrade as you might expect. I will try adding into the customizer out of paranoia. My next step was to put back the unminified CSS but so weird. Nothing else acting funky that I can see.

Also, fyi, I pulled the css from the ‘all files’ repo, not the single theme download in case you want to double check that.

Dear Support Team,

I am encountering a 404 error for the following file on my website:
https://www.electronicsforu.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/custom.js?ver=26122024045653
This issue was highlighted in PageSpeed Insights under the “Best Practices” section.

It appears that the file is missing or the server cannot locate it.

Impact:
This may impact website functionality and user experience.
It is also reducing the Best Practices score in performance tools.
