You could try any plugins you find with the required capabilities, make tests with them. We have not made any testing with such plugins so I can’t make any recommendations unfortunately.

If you indeed use Newspaper 4.6.3, than is quite an old theme version. The latest version is 9.0.1 and there will be another update soon.
Such an old theme version may function incorrectly with the latest WordPress and newer plugins and also could be vulnerable.

Could also be caused by a security plugin if you use one or a server firewall, there were some cases. Maybe try and check that as well.

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. This kind of issue could be caused by insufficient resources. There are some requirements that should be taken into account

Some hosting providers limit the parameters mentioned in the guide, this could create problems with the theme and theme plugins functionality. Increase them accordingly or contact the hosting so they can do it for you.

@lynnegoldman In similar cases 500 errors were provided if the WP memory was exhausted. Increasing it solved the problem, you could try the same.
In the requirements guide from above there are methods specified for increasing the memory.
Or contact the hosting provider and they will do it for you. For most cases a value of 256M is sufficient.

So the images are not loading in the media library. You could begin the investigation with the plugins as a quick test, deactivate them all except theme plugins and check again.
