Well, I’ve spent some hours trying to get the best score with the Newsmag theme. Right now I’m about 88-90 on dekstop. That’s a good score for me.

The problem it’s with the mobile score. Google Page Speed gives me something between 52 and 55, and mostly because of some unoptimized images. The images are indeed optimized, cos they are the same as the desktop version. These images are those that come from the slide. You can check the whole review here:

Is there any way to prevent this?

I used the patch you provided for 4.0.2 to 4.5 and it gave me errors so I reinstalled the full theme. It looks like it updated but im unable to access /wp-admin. When trying to go there, I receive:

I provided you with all the information via email (FTP and wp-admin) and got the response to rename the wp-content/plugins, try again and rename it back and no luck. Also to purge Cloudflare, but my site is not on Clouflare.

Going on the 4th day today with no admin and it’s really critical. Please help.

I think I read there was a small version to import directly from the theme, but it was also possible to get a more complete version that closer resembles the one that shows under preview on themeforest. I am not sure I am asking in the right place, but I would really love to get the larger import file e-mailed to me, if that would be possible?

Also…And I’m glad to have bought the newspaper theme. It is really easy to work with so far and with such an active community I’m sure I bought the right theme.

(CORRECTION)

For some odd reason, when initially viewing some “review” posts, in the author meta line under headline, there was the rating (e.g., * * * * ) vs the <o> 1234 for reads.

That appears to have cleared up, and might have been from short term server side caching.

Oops. Stupid me. Should have clicked through more posts and back and forth again, which I was just doing while typing this to make sure I had my facts straight.

Hello, I have test everything but it’s not possible to make the footer 100%; width. What im missing here.

How its possible to do that in Newsmag ?

Hi guys,

first of all since this is my first post here since I have purchased the theme back in March, wanted to say thank you – I really like it!

Since I haven’t updated the theme since March, I have now decided to bring it up to date. The mouse-over preview on the menu (the thumbs with the articles) is not working, the social counters are not displaying correctly etc – so it’s time to update!

I am going to use the Envato Plugin to automatically update it, have generated the API keys and everything and now I can do it.

BUT:

Upon pressing the button Update automatically I got a warning message saying:

Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made. ‘Cancel’ to stop, ‘OK’ to update.

So, obviously my developer guy has made a lot of modifications since March, and I have paid him a lot of money to tweak the theme a little bit.

Is there a way I update the theme without losing those modifications? That would be equal to losing hundreds of dollars I paid to my developer for the modifications…

I stumbled upon a problem with the full width view (without sidebar). I want to use this view sometimes to show pictures full width.

In post edit I set the width of those image to original size. In this case this results in width="1258" height="944"

…but when I save the article and go the frontend (or preview) page I can see in the source the image has a width of 700px (while in post edit the code still says the image should have a width of 1258 pixels).

Can you help me out with this? Because I really need the image to go fullwidth. Otherwise it has no sense to disable the sidebar on this page.

Hey, got 3 problems so far.

1 – I made a post and it showed the full image and no text, author, categorys, tags, nothing. I deleted the post to trash then delete permamently, but anytime I try to re-use that post name URL it shows the same messed up post. I made a new post with different title with same picture text etc and it worked, but I need the URL that I am locked out of from the first time.

2 – I tried the cropped featured image and it wasn’t going to work for me, most of my photos will be high res since its a sports site and it will almost always cut off important parts of the picture. With it turned off the featured image in posts look great, but the images on the homepage cut off pretty badly. I was looking at your alls demo theme – http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609 – And you can see the photo for the ipad mini doesnt change between its featured image, its bigger image on sidebar and even its very small 100px image. Is there a way for me to do this? The pictures on your demo make it look like all pictures will be shrunk to the correct PX and not be cut off.

3 – Comment options on posts are not showing up. I have tried the theme panel buttons but no dice.

Hi, does anybody know why all the pictures in posts preview on main page don’t display if I set any article display template except of M1???

Hi. I have been trying to integrate sexy bookmarks and/or jetpack sharing functionality on the front page. What I need is to have a FB and Twitter sharing buttons, with share count, on the front page, below each “article preview” on the article list (e.g. next to the “read more” button but aligned to the right). I would like these buttons to link to each article separately. The problem is that all I can do, is insert these two share buttons above the article list, but they link to the whole index page (home page).

Do you have any tips on how to integrate these social sharing buttons without modifying the code in individual php files? I have seen tutorials on how to add these buttons manually, but I want to leave the core files intact. Are you planning an update of newspaper with such functionality?
