Please note that the theme has to be updated along with WordPress and plugins. Old versions can have security breaches and these can be exploited by different tools.

The old version from prior to April 2016 had a security issue which was patched in 6.7.2. Similarly, WordPress prior to 4.7 is insecure.

Please make sure you update your theme, plugins, and WordPress and do not stick to old versions.

If you have been the victim of an attack, update your theme immediately to the latest version and use one of these guides:

Please be sure that our theme has no malware because, before each update, the theme is fully checked and inspected and also, the Envato Market does not allow to load any infected files on the platform, sorry! Most likely, the problem happens due to your side. Also, if you have been the victim of an attack, update your theme immediately to the latest version and use one of these guides:

You are maybe updating the theme the wrong way. If you copy the files next to the old ones, then the sidebars will get stripped. Please make sure you delete the old theme and install the new one using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Do not use the automatic process though as it is the least safe.

Another issue is probably the names of your sidebars. Please only use standard characters in the names. Do not use symbols or language specific characters as only you can see the name, it is not seen anywhere else outside the widgets area. Use just standard international letters.

Please keep in mind that what you want to do is a BIG update and the theme will be broken because it is totally another theme, sorry!

In order to achieve the best results after you will install the latest update you have to follow some rigorous steps like this -> you have to delete both of your themes, child theme, and main theme. All your customizations from your Newspaper 4 theme will do not work because all the files from this were changed in Newspaper 8.1 and as the main theme and also you lose all changes.

The Newspaper 8.1 is a whole new theme so an update from 4 to 8.1 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible).

Always make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come bundled with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings.

The shortcodes have been changed so old ones will not work anymore. Please note that old files customization or custom CSS will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust or re-add them. Bottom line is that newspaper 8.1 is a whole new theme built from scratch.

Unfortunately, you will have to clear your agenda and spare a bit of time to adjust all your settings to the new version of the theme.

Please keep in mind that the latest theme version is Newspaper 8.1 and it can be downloaded from Theme Forest. Notice that is not required to hire somebody to upgrade your theme because you can do it yourself if you will follow the steps from our useful tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Now depends on from which version you want to update the theme? If your theme is too old, (older than version 7) notice that you will have to spend a quite a bit of time until to adjust all of your elements to the new version of the theme. The 8’th theme version is practically another theme with new features. In this case, to be safe for your data, you should make a full backup to your database before each theme update or WordPress install.

There was a problem with the new update in regard to the functionality on mobile. Please download the theme package again and install it, the issue is fixed.

This is a strange issue as a theme update should not change the likes. The iamges in the theme panel do not say newspaper 7. I have double checked every image in the theme panel and they are all newspaper 8 images. Pleas update your theme again using this guide as it was probably a faulty update: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Do not pickj the automatic update. Pick the WP or FTP method. but make sure you download the theme again from envato as there were a few fixes implemented into the theme package on 8 Aug.

Please notice that all of your data (post/page/category) created by you will be loaded into your database. Before each update/fresh install, you should make a full-backup to your database. There should be no problem in using the Revolution slider. If you updated the theme to version 8, please update the plugins as well including the revolution slider. Deactivate it and delete it, then install the new one from the latest theme package.
In Newspaper 8 the tagDiv composer was introduced

If you use Visual composer deactivate the TagDiv composer from the plugins section, this is activated by default when the theme is updated or installed for the first time.
If you want to use the new editor, you must recreate all the pages with it

Also check the theme system status and see if the parameters mentioned in this guide are set properly

This will ensure the proper functionality of the theme and plugins.
Then try placing the revolution slider on the page you want. If the page was built with Visual composer use it to place the slider. Do not edit pages built with one editor, with the other.
