My Visual Composer stopped working, how do I fix this. I even purchased a Visual Composer License but I don’t think thats the problem. I emailed support for WPbakery this was the conversation.

“I tried to edit a page but my Visual composer no longer is working. I had bought a license thinking that was the issue but found out that my company already had a license since we purchased the newspaper theme about a year and a half ago.”

“The issue is because you are using an older version of visual composer and should update it to the latest version which is 4.12.1. You need to deactivate and delete the older version of the plugin from theme and then install the standalone version which is purchased by you. However, I would also suggest you to re-confirm the same with the theme author before proceeding, because if he has done any changes to the core plugin files, then they will be lost during this process which in-turn can affect the content and layout at your end.”

Please make sure that you have correctly made you theme update to the latest version of the theme which is Newspaper 7.4. Also, try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, if your problem is still there, please provide more detail about this error and you can provide it all of this so we can further inspect it closer and also, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.

I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using an older version of the theme, like as Newspaper 6.6.5. Please keep in mind that our theme has changed a lot until now and if you will have to bring best results you will have to update your theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.4) with come bundled with the latest version of required plugins which is Social Counter 4.1 and Visual Composer 4.12.1. Try to update your theme via FTP because this is the surest method in this regard, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ , clear all your caches, purge CDN files if you are using the CDN system and check the results. Please keep in mind that our theme is continuously developing and you will have to keep up the theme updatings to bring best results in theme.

Please update your child theme as the main reason why anything does not work when a child theme is activated is that it;s not been updated. You need to update the code in your child theme as well because there is no update proof method of customizing the theme files. Please check this topic:

Unfortunately there is no update proof method of altering the theme files. Code gets updated and if you keep old files in your child theme and the theme requires the new code but you feed the old one through your child theme…what do you think will happen? Yeah, the site will break. The child theme must be updated as well if the code you modified gets updated.

Please make sure that you update the theme according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ Basically you need to unzip Newsmag-tf file and upload in your WordPress Newsmag.zip file. Also check this link for more details about how to increase upload_max_filesize directive: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-increase-the-maximum-file-upload-size-in-wordpress/ That directive is located in php.ini file which may be found on your server. If you can’t find this file try to contact you host provider and ask more details in this regard.

The files are the same. The tracking code should be added in the same files. Parts of the code got moved and some got removed and some parts added in. Code gets optimized on each update but the file structure remains the same. Header and footer.php are requirements for every theme so they will not get removed. The head and body tag will always be located in the header.php file

The layout was not meant to show as you use it. In the latest update a few codes were changed regarding the layout but it will not affect it in any way if you use visual composer as intended. Please read this guide and only use the 3 column layout as we recommend: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/

I suspect this issue comes from your child theme. Please disable the child theme and check your site again. If the problem goes away, make sure you update your child theme as well. A child theme is not update proof.

Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 7.4) with the most recent version of required plugins (Visual Composer 4.12.1 and Social Counter 4.1). Images are not expanding after update. Once entered in the field and put the mouse over the image post it expanded. What is the reason that stopped, and how to back???

I just updated so I’m on the most recent version of everything, and some of my smart lists are still having the issue where text below a photo will not show up..
examples:
there’s about 5-6 sentences below each image that are written in the text editor but not showing up live anymore. They used to, and now not.
This is happening with ALL my smart lists, regardless of what type (2,4,6 etc)
I need to get this fixed ASAP since I use the Smart List feature for a lot of paid work that is now defunct.
Any help would be appreciated.
After update newspaper theme.
I noticed the layout changed on our site: http://admin.dushi.singtao.ca
I setup three columns (which setup as: 1/6 + 1/2 + 1/3) in wp-admin.
When I view page source and noticed that the first column missed define “td-pb-span2″. (code in below)

If you change core files, you need to re-apply them when you update to new theme version.
You can also export custom code box to a text file; or all customizations to a text file.
Similarly your home page built with VC, you can copy/paste the text shortcodes to a text file.
At least this is what I do 🙂
I am having a recurrent issue of retaining my customization after every theme update. What is the best method of retaining my old customization after updating my newspaper theme. I need the best and the most cost effective means of retaining my old customization after every theme update.

I just updated to the latest version of Newspaper on a relatively new wordpress install. For some reason I don’t see the full width header and footer on my site that I see on your default demo. The settings have all been reset to their defaults, but my footer doesn’t expand to the edges of the browser.
My goal was to have something similar to your Travel Guide demo, where there’s an image that spans the entire width of the header and footer. So I installed the Travel Guide demo settings (no content) but the footer and header were not full-width.
I noticed one thing while playing with the settings though. In the Footer Background settings, whenever I select Full Width for the size and try saving the settings, it hangs and doesn’t save the setting. That spinning gif just keeps spinning continuously and I’m resorted to refreshing the screen to get out of it. When I imported the settings for either demo, that Full Width option is selected, BUT, whenever I change a setting in Footer Background and try saving, it hangs as long as that Full Width option is selected.
Can someone please help me out on this? I’m not sure if this is a bug or if this is just on my end.

I really love your designs and have been using them for a while and intend to do so for many more years. I have a couple of issues/questions now:
1. Internal search on my site is not working. I get the following message whenever I make a search entry: wp booster error:
td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: search is not set.
………/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_api.php
2. I use a pretty old child theme, is it also necessary to update the child theme if its too old? Or is there such a thing as outdated child theme?
3. Since I updated to 4.7, I can’t see mobile theme active on the theme panel. I updated the latest one through FTP since you announced an issue with Yoast Seo, but it is still not working.

The zoom effect works fine on my side with google chrome or Firefox browsers. If yous still have this issue try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge cdn files if you’re suing then test the site again. Also make sure that you update the theme according with our documentation.

Update… I’m still getting use to this Mobile Theme settings and just realized that it has its own Mobil Editor for pages/post. When I insert the shortcode there, it is now working as expected. so looks like its good now 🙂

I have not updated the theme since we have made many changed in the theme post deployment. Hence would it be wise to update VC without updating the main theme? Will there be compatibility issues? It’s a prod environment and we can’t afford to risk it.

We can’t provide a solution for the moment but I’ve added this on our todo list and theme’s developers will consider it for future updates. However I can’t promise anything regarding implementation as we have a very long list with feature requests and we have to take them one by one.
