Yes, basically if you replace old files with the ones from patch folder the update should be completed successfully. However you have to proceed with caution as there are lots of files and best way to update is via wordpress or via ftp as is indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/

Hi,
Unfortunately the td_config file will not work from the child theme so you will have to make this modification in the main theme. There is no update proof method for customizing the theme files. Not even the child theme is update proof.
As for the second question, you can use css to reduce the size of the image. You can post a link to the block in question and I will provide the code for it.

We apologize for the late delay but we don’t work on weekends and also we’re sorry for any inconvenioces encountered after update..
The theme is tested and it works fine. Please make sure that you update the theme according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ also try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, deactivate the child theme if you’re using, clear all caches, purge all cdn files if you’re using then test again. Also if you have any custom code in theme panel > custom code> custom css filed make sure it won’t affect page’s layout.
If with previous version a custom co worked fine this may not be the case with a new version. Theme’s style has been changed a lot and any custom code can create issues or may not work at all.
@alintiniuc thank you for your tip. Any changes made in theme’s files will be lost during update process because old files are deleted and new ones are uploaded instead.

Since the VC is packed with your theme, I am unable to update it until you release an update at your end. When will the update be released? Hi there,
I just updated to V7 – and now my header logo got stuck on the left no matter which header style is selected (I was going with style 10 before). Furthermore, the social widget doesn´t seem to work anymore.

Furthermore, the mobile logo seems to be messed up, too :(. As the site isn´t online yet, I just deactivated most of my pages, so that you can have an eye on it.

Oh, and I just saw that on pages other than the startpage (e.g. A/B Testing), the Header Logo scales totally wrong. Seems that Newspaper uses the standard Logo PNG on the startpage (left) and the retina one on all other pages (but way too big).

Ignore the nag screens from Visual Composer. TagDiv tries to deactivate those, but the sneaky devils keep working in ways to have it pop up, much like Yoast was inserting settings update notices on first time installs of Yoast, which was dumb. Bundled version of plugin doesn’t need you to register it, insert key, etc., and the VC folks should be baking that in (see what I did there) to the bundled version license, but apparently not.
Upshot – it works. Theme works. But TagDiv cannot control all aspects of some of the bundled elements as those are built but the third parties. Kind of like the aribags in cars from last 10 years (so, am I comparing VC to Takata .. maybe I am, maybe I am not … you decide).

If I rewrite all old files on server with new one in folder “patch_2.3.1_3.0” will it upgrade my theme to 3.0 or not?

Be sure your mobile theme plugin is active. And if is actvie, try to update visiual composer.
and if you already do both of that. Look mobile theme settings from theme panel.

STEP 2 : Download last version of Newspaper files.
Delete Social Media Counter from your ‘WordPress Panel’
Upload Social Media Counter Plugin which included Newspaper Files. (\Newspaper-tf\plugins\td-social-counter.
Be sure plugin is activated and its done!.

Update Visual Composer and then update Social plugin all will work.
I am having the same message displayed but this is only in the plugin section and everything else on there is running perfectly fine.
It is asking me to insert a key code if i want automatic updates, however you will get the updates as TagDiv release the updates for Newspaper.
deleted and removed and reinstalled….has a nag screen to update again..
I solved the problem.
Go to your themeforest account and download the updated version of the theme.
Then go to your wordpress, deactivate the theme by choosing another one and delete the current newsmag. Your data and design wont be lost.
Install the new download from themeforest and activate it.
You will have to buy the new version of visual composer at $36 since its update is not covered in this new update of newsmag.
If that doesn’t help you, then contact theme creators.
First of all,I have the lastest theme and plugin version already.
My problem is on Tagdiv Social Counter,the number of Google Plus and Instagram is not update!!
But facebook and Twitter is OK it’s always update.

I’m not an employee for tagdiv but here is some advice.
It’s a lot better that you use the “custom css” code in the theme panel when changing the style css of the website or use a child theme and call the css from there because that will never effect their updates.
Never edit the Style CSS directly on the theme because it will always over right when they make an update with the style sheet.
