@ghostmi I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’re using child theme. Try to deactivate the child theme, also deactivate all plugin except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.

Please make sure you added the right secret api key from you envato account, otherwise the conectioj won’t be made and the update will fail. Also deactivate all plugins during the update process then test again.

Update the the theme at latest version available on themeforest, V 2.3.6 and also update the Visual Composer plugin at V 4.11.2 which is included i theme path, /plugins folder. @yudhieq you’re still using an older version of the theme. Make sure you update the theme at V 2.3.6 clear all caches and test again: http://screencast.com/t/ZA2XssrOss

I can see the problem that I have described even on the demo page of tagdiv

Check this in mobile size and you will see that the header logo doesn’t resize to fit mobile—in fact is spilling out of the screen. This is the problem in header styles 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Ideally, for mobile, the header should take the mobile size.

I would suggest that it be corrected in the upcoming update.

Our theme is tested and works fine with child theme. However there is an important aspect that must be considered when you’reusing child theme:
– the point of a child theme is to keep the customization even if the main theme it’s updated. But this is not always valid, because once in a while the child theme it’s also updated, or if the main theme pass through a major update it’s possible that some customizations not work well anymore. Also you have to consider WordPress’s updates which might influence the way your code works. If in previous theme’s version a specific code added in child theme worked fine that doesn’t mean that will work with a new theme version. When theme update many of its files are changed and it’s a good practice to check update_log.txt file for each update and see what files had been modified so if those specific files are used in the child theme you will have to check your customizations to not break the functionality of the theme.

The website I’m building / redesigning will launch May 1st. It’s under wraps until then 🙂

I realised that Newspaper theme really is not geared for CPT. In the end there is too many customisations needed and would probably break all sorts for theme updates in the future.

I had to options to accomplish my goal:

1. Use CPT to get the data-sorting i wanted.
2. Modify and add the needed sorting logic to the data backend.

I chose the latter. Today I rewrote the ajax functions and implemented the function (only get posts from main box / menu filter AND sub-filters (from drop-downs).

I update via FTP so that I can do a full “snapshot” of the site, folders, images, plugins, etc.

Also reminds me to delete oooold themes or plugins I’m no longer using, in case I sometimes forget to do that.

Then when I do the updates, if anything goes wrongo reindeer (as a co worker used to say), I can roll back to the safe one.

Obviously best to do this before the WP 4.5 update too.

Also worth considering “disabling” any “auto-updates” – which you can do in your wp-config file, if not already done. I hate auto updates — WP thinks they’re great, except every 8th time it breaks the site completely!

I guess WordPress 4.5 can “break” how jquery is loaded in a *lot* of themes, or they switched to calling a newer version than most themes and WP 4.4x had.

So, if your site stops working with WP 4.5, then you’d likely need to update, –or– perhaps unenqueue jquery from theme in your functions.php file and then load via the Google CDN. Oddly one of my sites where I did that had zero problems with the new WP 4.5 update, while others had the problem.

Obviously make a full back up of your dbase and site content so you can “roll back” if it does not work.

Visual Composer may stop working with new version of WP due to the new version of jquery being loaded.
