Updated exactly as per Tagdiv documentation. This is the 4th or 5th update since my theme purchase, and not my only site, so I am aware of the FTP process.
Also, looking at the File Manager through the cpanel shows the updated files.
De-activating the Child Theme has fixed the errors, however what do I do next to restore my site to its original look? This site has a considerable amount of customization… it looks nothing like the demo content.
The whole point of having Child Themes is to prevent the loss of customization and site settings when themes update. But it is beginning to look like your theme and its update process does not support the use of Child Themes?
Please advise on my next step.

Did you also update the VC plugin at same time you updated theme; clear caching/CDN as needed, clear transients?
I updated NewsMag with the new version yesterday, but now I don’t see the Visual Composer options on my front page “page” – where I built the front page adding elements, etc. How do I get the visual composer back? The front page is the same as I had it (using visual composer), but I don’t see any options there to change it now (i.e. move elements around, add news elements, etc.).

I updated newsmag theme recently due to wordpress update causing error. I was happy that your update could solve the problem. But, then I updated visual composer by deleting the old one then reupload. And I guess it was a big mistake.
would you mind checking my site then give me some advice what to do? I keep the backup tho

Agreed. We just completed this upgrade path. What we did however to make future updates easier is install subversion control and document what we changed… so here’s hoping that tagDiv will provide more details when they make upgrades so people who have deeper customization can apply updates a bit easier.

Hi, my FB counter is also off. I have the latest theme (6.7.1). I downloaded the files from my themeforest account and unzipped the social counter it says version 3.1 not 4.11. Where are the files from version 4.11 if not in the template files within themeforest?

You can find the modified file in patch folder from theme path: http://screencast.com/t/z7YXbR4k7fxt so you can replace the old file with the ones from patch folder and the update will be made automatically.

After the last update of the theme, i see that there are some strange japanese symbols instead of arrows and social icons. Can you help me please?
In my case issue was not in theme or in any plugin. I talked to Host provider and they solved the issue. They told me it was a simple cache problem on server after yesterday’s WordPress update. They purged cache on server and instantly problem resolved.
Can I know which changes you make on the latest themes update? I need to changes manually because I have heavily modified the themes and impossible to update the themes directly

I’m not sure how this happened but I see some custom widgets screen so I assume it’s a plugin that ads those features. Sometimes an update that is not done properly will strip the sidebars of widgets so you will have to re-add them. When you update make sure you deactivate the theme before replacing the theme files.

We updated the theme and included the latest version of Visual Composer, V 4.11.2, which is testes and works fine with WordPress. Also we fixed the jQuery conflict so try to update the theme at V 2.3.6 and the VC plugin following our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ clear all caches and test again.

Now in theme panl i cant cli on save if i try to change somthing. WE see pictue turn and turn after we clic on save an nohting happen ??
I use the Envato WordPress Toolkit to update the theme. But it doesn’t update VC.
When I go to td_theme_plugins/Install premium plugins it shows VC as Installed and Active
Are you saying I have to download the total THEME package, extract and locate the plugin, and THEN upload it? Surely it should update directly based on the theme?
