thanks again for your reply, and, don’t worry, I don’t get you wrong.
what I’m trying to say with my poor English is not that I need support for WPML or Types, but that the latest Newspaper release includes a buggy version of Visual Composer plugin (because, I repeat, it’s NOT a Newspaper bug what we’re talking about).
In the past months, in a very short time you’ve updated Newspaper many times: I would have expected a further update also for a new version of Visual Composer, because VC is a key part of your excellent theme, and the current version generates problems that I’ve never had before.
However, I understand that you’ve to test external plugins: I sincerely hope that the test would end quickly, because it’s really difficult to develop and maintain my sites under these conditions.

Please do not get me wrong. We know about the existence of this type of plugin but we do not know about the functionality of this with our theme and we cannot say for sure if this plugin works fine or not with the theme because the plugin has not been tested with our theme, sorry. We cannot give support/technic information on something that is not tested with our product. Indeed, the latest version of Visual Composer is 4.11 but unfortunately, it needs some time until we officially launch this version of Visual Composer. The plugin has to be checked and it is necessary to adjust to our theme for better result and this lasts. Surely, we will introduce this in near future update.

Unfortunately there is no solution to hide the name of the theme without editing the theme files. If you edit the theme files, on every update, files get replaced so your modification will be gone and you have to do it again. You can follow this topic to see how to remove the theme name:

As our theme (along with all premium themes) is a custom theme, plugins cannot edit the theme files as they cannot recognize the code. Plugins are created for wordpress, not themes so there is a very slim chance of finding a plugin that could remove the theme name.

I’m a bit surprised you have no idea about WPML, it is one of the most popular wordpress plugins for multilingual support, but it’s not the point.
I’m not asking for support about WPML: although not officially supported, it works quite well with Newspaper, I developed several multilingual sites using Newspaper and WPML, and in any case the compatibility issue is NOT between WPML and Newspaper, but between WPML (and many other plugins) and 4.9.2 version of Visual Composer.
I believe that also Visual Composer producer, WPBakery, has noticed that 4.9.2 release has some issues, and in fact the current version of Visual Composer is 4.11.
But I can’t update the plugin because I’ve purchased as part of Newspaper, that’s all.

Version 6.6.5 is the latest version of the theme. There is no update released yet. You probably saw the last updated status on themeforest. That is because we updated the preview image for our theme description and the date was changed automatically, but there was no theme update uploaded.

Unfortunately, our upgrade does not affect the quality of the thumbs. Please check our changelog and there you can see what improvements contain the update. On the mobile, this is the behaviour of the theme about image. All of these will be zoomed by CSS code and the image could have a lower quality.

Unfortunately, the WPML plugin is not a tested plugin and it is not found through our list of tested plugins as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/MvYoE9pBqaUN We have no idea about the functionality of this plugin and about the impact over the behaviour of the theme and we cannot provide support for this types of plugin, sorry!
Unfortunately, we cannot say for sure when will be the next theme update and the next update for the Visual Composer sorry! Our developers work hard and only they can decide the exact date when the update will be released.

Set all page text, titles, etc to RED, All pages changed font/title colors EXCEPT for
two pages – Forums and Contribute– Those pages did not change color

Another update, Our coder said when he tried to insert CSS to change the color it crashed the site every time.
Sorry, forgot to update here. The problem was related to the posts category, where the background setting was left to default while the others where changed to stretched. All sorted, my bad 🙂

here’s a support query from me which might be rare to see 🙂
Minor item came up with the AMP roll out, where we are using the built-in hit counter (non Ajax) with Newsmag, but of course the hit function doesn’t fire off with the /amp/ CSS load redirect — basically works like a custom print CSS setup.
With one site where we still use wp-postviews, the hook was easy to add to functions.php to fire it off on each AMP visit (now getting thousands of AMP views per week on a particular site, hundreds on another!)
Seems like there would be a TD function to fire off in the same way we do the wp-postviews, via this hook

Any pointer on the right ‘process’ to insert there for the TD hit counter, would be appreciated. I will also add that to my little AMP tutorial thread. I’ve not posted this query on that thread, as it’s more likely to be buried vs a new topic.

it’s not directly connected with your theme, ok, but bugs and compatibility issues related to Visual Composer 4.9.2 (we’ve just found another one, this time with WPML plugin) are becoming really annoying: it is hard to develop sites in these conditions, having to disable and re-enable plugins to do tasks that before the last update worked perfectly.

I solved it by changing the Javascript-File and the td_video_support. But obviously this is not a great solution since the tagdiv_theme.js-File is changed with every second update.

Duplicate images on smart lists usually are the result of using the Photon feature of the Jetpack. If you use this feature please disable it as it is known to cause issues with our theme.
If the problem is still there, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer and clear your cache as other plugins could also conflict with the smart lists. Also, if you are using “strange” characters (!@#$%^&*/”- etc) in ALT tag, the image will be twice. I have added this issue to our list of fixes and in next major updates will solve this problem. Until we will fix this issue, please try to remove these kinds of symbols in ATL tag for better results.

Please follow this guide to get it working:
1) Please make sure you have the latest theme version: 6.6.5. If not, you need to follow this guide to update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
2) Having the latest version of the theme is not enough if you do not update the social counter as well. You need to remove the current version you use: http://screencast.com/t/4jvRwNzK and then install the version of the plugin that comes with the 6.6.5 theme: http://screencast.com/t/9AKKURjTjX
You can recognize if you have the correct version of the plugin when you see the new app key settings: http://screencast.com/t/CIXxklBanNl If you do not have these settings in your social counter it means you do not have the correct version.
3)You need to follow this guide to get the requirements from facebook:

Please keep in mind that the social counter is not a live count. It will update once every few hours.

Thank you so much for that fix. It fixed the pagination for us.
Absolutely agree on maintaining the most updated versions. We have a child-theme set up but because a that didn’t give us enough scope to deliver the functionality that was required we’ve had to make changes to the theme core – which was always supposed to be ‘temporary’.
What would be ideal is if we can view the changelog for each version of the theme so that we can patch it safely rather than update the theme completely.
Is that possible if we maintain support payments to the theme every year?

Please try to use the latest version of the theme (6.6.5) and Seo Yoast plugin (3.0.7) because works fine. Indeed, was some problems with Seo Yoast plugin after version 3.0 but they were solved this in their latest update and now it is okay.

If you still have this issue, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Sometimes, wordpress itself has issues with special characters. If you use for example special characters in your sidebar titles, your sidebar will be stripped of widgets by WP. Please try to avoid special characters as much as possible.
