Yep … that’s what happens. They can randomly skip images based on the actual content, file name, etc.
One “trick” we do here, is go back to the post where the image was skipped, add/change ONE word in headline (not the slug/URL!!) and then update the post. If it’s still in your Google News sitemap, they “normally” will recapture and often get image on the update.
So, I am in the habit of checking posts regularly in case they just skip stuff.
Weird thing is, sometimes they show the image in our “site:name” search but then not in the search by the topic in the story. Implies some bug in “display” of image they have actually in fact captured. SO they have it, just not always showing it. I have 2 items today with this issue.
Stupid, I know. But there you are. 🙂

You should ideally not edit files via the WordPress editor since you then have no backups. You should download theme via FTP, then on your PC/Mac, edit the files, keeping backup in case you mess something up. And keep track of changed files, as they will be over-written with theme updates.
As security measure you should also ideally disable the editor in WP so folks who get access to system through a vulnerability cannot rewrite core files or theme files.
Just some food for thought 🙂
I have no idea why but after I upgraded this morning to the latest version, a post seems to have a vanishing sidebar.
Could anyone help.
Thank you.
Those two plugins only work with WooCommerce — if not using WooCommerce, you don’t need them.
You download the NEW theme files from your account on ThemeForest, then follow the “update theme” documentation; see the link to docs right side of page >>>>>>>
The CSS has been updated but the problem still persists.
The element I’m trying to target is the entry title for the full screen post on the home page.

Hello,
We looked into this error and ran a few tests and it seems the errors comes up with .jpeg images. Google changed their algorithm that is why we released a new update today to fix structure data errors. This error could have slipped by as this will be a long process to identify all the new errors that come up from google. Please try to change your image from the jpeg extension to another one and see if the error will still be present.
Thank you!
Hello,
The update was made for the structure data errors.
I have tested your website and it seems fine: http://screencast.com/t/sjsJKefyXa
Thank you!
Hello,
You can see a list of modified files from 6.6.2 to 6.6.3 here: http://screencast.com/t/U0JKaAJaHIK The patch can be found in the main archive of the theme.
This patch only replaces the files needed for the new update. The only file you can skip in here is style.css as there were no modifications to it other than the theme version number. The other files you need for the update to work. If you have any changes to these files and you need the update, you will have to recreate your changes.
Thank you!
I cannot find only update files. I have versions 2.2.1. Could you please tell me what is your system to update? I supposed to rewrite all the files (so downloading all the theme) or just certaian files (and where to find those).
The system also gives me the error message:
“The TagDiv Invoice plugin needs the WooCommerce plugin to be activated first!
File message: /home/content/02/11571702/html/ptuj24.si/wp-content/plugins/td-woo-invoice/td-woo-invoice.php”
and
“The TagDiv Label plugin needs the WooCommerce plugin to be activated first!
File message: /home/content/02/11571702/html/ptuj24.si/wp-content/plugins/td-woo-label/td-woo-label.php”
even though both are activated.
tnx for your time and help
Andrej
I can report that my schema errors are now fixed as of this last update. Thanks!
One thing that would be an interesting add (but not sure how easy it would be) – if the post has a video, it would be good to have the Video Object Markup applied. I am not sure if this would be easy to do however.
The Structured Data tool reports no errors for me at this time.

Hello leohans,
If your ultimate update was from 4.X to 6.X, unfortunately, you lose all changes. Newspaper 6 is a whole new theme so an update from 4 to 6 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible).
Always make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come bundled with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings.
The shortcodes have been changed so old ones will not work anymore. Please note that old files customization or custom css will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust or re-add them.
Bottom line is that newspaper 6 is a whole new theme built from scratch.
Unfortunately, you will have to clear your agenda and spare a bit of time to adjust all your settings to the new version of the theme.
If you have already Newspaper 6 and you want only to do the update to latest version, you should make this without any problem. All your customization are recorded in the database which are not affected by this update.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for the message!
Hello,
Please check if the update was done properly and provide a link to your website so we can inspect it and see these errors.
Thank you!
Hello,
I have checked your website and saw you do not have any pagination on your categories. The problem fixed by the update was related to pagination. You have no pagination in the category so i cannot see the problem. Please describe the problem you have as it could be something else.
Thank you!
Hey Bogdan, i applied the update as i received today, do you it will fix the issue?
Hello,
We released an update today for the structure date errors. Please update your theme to the latest version 6.6.3
You can use this guide if needed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Thank you!
Hello,
You can ignore this message as the plugin is bundled with the theme and we offer updates for it. You can continue using it without activation.
Thank you!
Hello,
We updated the theme due to problems with google structure date. The analysis was retrieving a few errors due to an algorithm change so we had to fix them. We also included a new version of visual composer and revolution slider. You can see the change log here: http://tagdiv.com/newspaper-6-6-update/
As for the css, you can replace the files and leave out style.css. Only the theme version was changed in this file. You can update without style.css.
Thank you!
Last time I updated the theme I lost some basic customization like favicons that weren’t maintained even after copying & pasting the backup text.
How can I update the theme without having to check all the site for this kind of stuff?
Hello fabiocimo,
You should make this update without any problem. All your customization are recorded in the database which are not affected by this update. You should do a backup if you want to do updates the theme from version 4.X to 6.X. In that case, all the code will be overwritten and you will lose all changes.
Here -> http://screencast.com/t/jcNEvJJGh you can see which are the changes in our new update.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for purchasing our theme!
Thanks for the update! I am still getting one error. It is a strange one. My articles are using the default post template. Google testing tool reads it perfectly, thanks to the update. But at the end of the google testing tool results, i get the following error message: the value provided for image must be a valid url.
You can see screen image of the error here:
https://www.uspolitics.news/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Screen-Shot-2015-12-22-at-5.36.04-AM.png
Then it highlights all this, suggesting something is wrong the:
<span style=”display: none;” itemprop=”image” itemscope itemtype=”https://schema.org/ImageObject”><meta itemprop=”url” content=”https://www.uspolitics.news/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Ted-Cruz-takes-aim-at-the-WSJ.jpeg”><meta itemprop=”width” content=”1160″><meta itemprop=”height” content=”629″></span>
Also, I noticed the SiteNavigationElement is no longer showing up in the in the google testing tool. How can I make my sitenavigationElements show up.
Theme and Visual Composer are updated to this morning version.
I send you an email with login details.
Thanks
Hello,
Please make sure you use the latest version of the theme and the latest version of visual composer as well. This morning we released newspaper 6.6.3 with visual composer 4.9
Please try to update your theme using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
If the problem is still there after the update, please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can take a look. Please include a link to this topic as well.
Thank you!
Update:
After doing some digging, I had to update the Child Theme Functions code which I copied and pasted from the new install folder.
Now this is what I am seeing when I go to blog posts:
http://s23.postimg.org/tdc23s3zf/123456.png
As you can see, everything from the post title down is non existent.
This is what I did:
I tried to update my News Mag theme to the latest, which I was running 1.7.1 I believe. I dragged and dropped the folder into my FTP (made a backup of everything). My website started to show a bunch of errors, so I decided to go back to the old version.
From there, I dragged and dropped the 1.7.1 back into FTP which returned the site back to normal. But the theme dashboard is now grey instead of blue and I can’t save anything. The save button no longer shows. Also when I go to custom javascript or css area, nothing comes up.
