2.3.1 update error - topic

Updated the theme from 2.x to 2.3.1 and got a buch of errors like the ones below in the admin area, so I’m guessing that I should have installed the 2.3 version beforehand.

Where can I download that from ? Thanks.

After the latest update 2.3.1 this solution to allowing Disqus seems not to be working.

I have several attempts and I keep crashing the site. Can you re-check this?

I had the same issue. My visual composer and social counter plugins were previous versions which caused the error. You probably need to update your social counter to fix the issue.

Hi,

Using the Newspaper theme, I can’t seem to find a way to cleanly override, via a filter or child theme, the default featured image.

That is, if you look at this code from td_module.php it appears hardcoded. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6vk1qodffkcc3j8/Screenshot%202015-11-14%2008.58.05.png?dl=0

I just wanted to know if you guys had a best practice for this? It could be as simple as an apply_filters that passes an extra argument ($thumbType) which I’d be happy to write and send a pull request through 🙂

Let me know if I am missing something or if there’s an easy way to cleanly do this.

I say cleanly because if I update the theme in the future I will have to reupdate the code.

Changes in custom css gone after 2.3.1 update? - topic

Can you please confirm if changes made in the custom CSS through the theme panel are not saved.
The changes are applied, but the css text is not saved once refreshed.

Yes, its sorts it out somewhat, not ideal but it will have to do for now I guess. 🙂

UPDATE: I fixed this.

I tried deleting the td_config.php file on my server and uploading its original file from my theme folder on my local hard drive but it’s not fixing the error. I can’t tell why the file is not working correctly. 🙁

I checked line 1113 and there is no obvious error on that line, it looks as it should.

I cannot edit the ad boxes at all now, the Ads section is totally broken within the Theme Template.

I followed these steps below to create more custom add boxes:

Edit td_config.php and add it like this: http://screencast.com/t/LjL18ZfbL Then just make add it in td_panel_ads.php file – http://screencast.com/t/UB3dwNgI68
Now you can add your code in Theme Panel > Ads – http://screencast.com/t/z3ROmJFEL and display it in your page – http://screencast.com/t/aNBwX5azB

The result was it broke my website, creating this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ‘)’ in /home/mauimagazine/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/td_config.php on line 2006:

I overwrote the file to fix the website, but I was hoping you can help me successfully add more custom ad boxes without breaking the website.

UPDATE: Actually it turns out I broke it a bit worse than I realized — my Ads section on the theme template is broken, saying: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/mauimagazine/www/wordpress/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/panel/views/td_panel_ads.php on line 1113

That is the most urgent fix I need now 🙁

After further investigation of that issue we might have found the “bug”

Looking at td_review.php you find the following code snippet:

Just maybe there is an else snippet missing to remove the td_review_key in case someone “disables” the review for a post?!
Anyhow, for our problem we manually removed the entry from the database to synchronize the backend view and the db.

Updated the plugins manually by ftp and it didn’t seem to work. Do you think reverting to my backup and then starting over would help. Last time I activated the child theme and then installed the new theme using the normal WordPress theme panel.

I’m thinking:

Revert to backup
Activate child theme
Manually load theme through ftp

Sound right?

Hi there, I have a few questions regarding the way I purchased this amazing theme.

First of all my Envato account shows me that I have 4 months of remaining support. Does that mean that after 4 months I can no longer download (security) updates? Will my account no longer be able to post on this forum?

Secondly I am testing with a new URL and I have not yet activated the theme there. Do I have to purchase a new license to do that?

Hello,

We do not know where the problem comes from It should not be there. Something got corrupted. Please update your theme as i suggested above and let us know after the update.
PS: deleting a closing tag will create problems in other parts of the website. It’s never a good idea even if it seems to resolve the problem at the moment.

I updated it some secons ago I typed in the wrong one…sorry. Also I might have been logged in adding a friend so you can see the box, the pass in the post above is correct now, I tried it. If you go members in the top menu you see a list, picking “peter blom” wich is a friend you can se the odd box behavior (or any of the others that’s listed as friends.

Hello,

I have checked your site again and i saw the problem. For some reason a span element gets moved inside a row http://screencast.com/t/VHxD28xllx. We are not sure where this comes from. If you have modifications to your theme files please undo them and check your site again. If not, please try to update your theme to the latest version and also update visual composer (use the version that comes with the theme).
Let us know if the problem is still there after the update.

Hello,

The version of buddypress we have tested to work with our theme was the previous one that did not have this feature. We did not have the chance to test the new version with our theme so problems such as this could occur.
I will add this problem to our list and hopefully in our next update we will be able to implement a solution for it. This seems like a css issue, and maybe it can be adjusted until the next update. Please provide a link to your website (pointing at the problem itself) so we can inspect it.

Unable to Update Footer widgets - topic

I have tried many times but the widget items updated by me in the footer widgets are not showing on the main site. I have cleared catche both offline and also with the catche plugins and the footer widgets were updated by me many days ago; yet the same do not show.

Hello,
The social counter needs to be updated as well, and visual composer also. Please install the plugin versions bundled with the theme version: http://screencast.com/t/aqcRBkTNB
As for the second problem, please follow Chris’ suggestion (thank you Chris) and do an install via FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and let us know if the problem is still there afterwards.

You can update the social counter from the file included with your theme download, in the plugins folder. Always best to do those manually via FTP.

Similarly always best to update theme via FTP as sometimes auto-update tools can timeout leaving elements incomplete.

I updated my theme today and have a couple issues I cant figure out.

1. My media gallery wont populate with the images I previously had loaded. They show up fine live but they don’t show up in the library on the back end.

2. I have prompts to update “tagDiv Social Counter” I’m currently running Version 2.7. I don’t have an update option on my plugin panel.
