Hi,
Before update please backup the site (database and files) â https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
There is a guide how to update the theme â https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ I suggest to delete the old theme, then upload version 6 so you will make sure that no old files will remain. After update the theme you can update also the theme’s plugins, you can find them in the /plugins folder. After the update run the script, it will import old settings from database and it will change the shortcodes (like you can see in the documentation), the script is included in the Welcome panel â http://screencast.com/t/eZxxuqvsTir. Also you have to regenerate the thumbs â https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/ You may have to re-add widgets on the sidebars, some of them may not be imported or don’t exist anymore.
Thanks!

Hi,
The script is included please take a look in the Welcome panel â http://screencast.com/t/eZxxuqvsTir it will import old settings from database like I said above. Make a full backup of your current installation before update.
Thanks!

Hi,
You can update to version 6.1 as we have fixed some issues in this update – http://screencast.com/t/olc6GytLbqVs and you are right the Big Grid Slider is not looking like in my screenshot by default with 4 post limit. Only if you set the post limit to at least 8 it will look like in my screenshot – http://screencast.com/t/M11yslhp – http://screencast.com/t/qHKRnZ9K
Thanks!
I had this issue with update also; was totally a caching issue.
Hi,
Thank you for the update, my issues were fixed except for one.
On the homepage, when you hover over a post title, the link turns white. I searched for the setting but can’t seem to fine it. Is the an option for the hover link color? It wasn’t like that before the update.
Thank you đ
Hello tagDiv-Team,
Thank you for the awesome new update! Really enjoying it.
There is though one problem I ran into: The element “Big Grid 8” from visual composer doesn’t fully resize the images, despite regenerating all thumbnails as you describe in your documentation.
Guess it’s also important to mention that I went into the row settings, where the “Big Grid 8” is, and changed it to “Stretch row and content (no paddings)”.
Maybe it’s because of the stretching?
Anyway, it would be awesome if you could help me out with that, since I really would like it to be stretched and with no paddings.
Thank you in advance with warm regards,
Mr. Arias
P.S. By the way, here is the website I’m talking about: http://www.toplifetips.org. Please see it for yourself.
P.S.S. If it is because of the stretching, is there an alternative solution?
After I updated Newsmag theme i have some errors, especially with the search bar in MENU. It’s not showing properly, either in desktop and mobile version.
Also, NEWS link is showing duplicate content.
What is wrong? I can’t figure out…
P.S. is there any plugin or something which will correct picture size to fit homepage module?
Regards
Looks like you need to regenerate your images which are not “filling” the spot for the photos, hence why you have white space at bottom of the photo area.
Your need to use the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin to reset your images to fit the theme layout and “crop to fit.”
If an image spot is larger than your original photo, you will need to also use the “thumbnail upscale” plugin.
SO, likely not a “bug” — but merely you need to update your photos for the theme you’re now using, which is common practice.
I’m not having this issue, so it’s possible this doesn’t apply to you — but it is the most common reason for this particular issue based on the above photos you posted.
There is a problem with Article Inline Ad. If used not formatted text in article, the AD unit displays. If the article uses the format (such as <p align=”justify” … ), the unit is not displayed. In the site uses formatted text, after update from nevspaper 4.6.3 to 6.1 that module is not displayed. Need HELP.
I haven’t updated my company blog once this year; too busy on the business. I totally know how it is ! đ
Realized in version 6.1 update that three files were deleted, Deleted files – 3 files
js \ td_site.js
js \ td_site.min.js
theme-style.php
When autalizei via FTP the files remain on the server folder. I wonder if I delete the three files mentioned?
Hi. I used W3 total cache. You suggest it on this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
But until Newspaper 6 update I see WP Super Cache plugin on that page as “5. Use a cache plugin (WP Super Cache)” and in your Speed Booster plugin’s code.
Which one do you suggest?
Hi
For some reason there is a date/author inline my posts after updating to V6. Anyone know how to remove it?

Hello,

Hi Alin,
Here’s an update. Again, I’m using iPhone 6+ and default Safari browser to view this. It’s the same phone I used with Newspaper 4 and there was no issue at all.
I’ve changed to using the main theme now and I suspect the culprit is the Big Grid 3 that was causing it. So I changed back to Big Grid 2 and the result is this.

The problem now are:
1) Header ad are still showing despite disabling it through theme panel and I’ve also added the code below under theme custom css.
@media (max-width: 1024px){
.td-header-sp-ads{
display: none !important;
2) Big Grid 2 STILL doesn’t fit on the mobile, just like your demo site as well.
3) Header logo background is now black instead of white. Previous Newspaper 4 was white.
4) Big Grid 2 repeated at the very bottom of the page, right before the footer section.
Can you guys recheck the mobile site part? I really didn’t know how to solve all this.
Hi,
We haven’t updated to 6 yet and there doesn’t seem to be anything in the child theme’s functions that enqueues the css.
It looks as though the parent theme is loading it.
Can you tell me where it’s hardcoded in the parent theme so I can modify it manually until we can update?
Thanks
I’m having the same issue.
We haven’t updated to Newspaper 6 yet (or the related plugins) as we’re waiting for it to coincide with the launch of a new feature in 10 days.
I tried adding another Instagram ID. It didn’t work (didn’t show the followers of the other ID). Any other suggestions?
See the docs right side of page > then ‘how to update’ đ
I recently bought the newspaper issue 6.0.
Now an update 6.0 to 6.1
as?
@gopal904 Yep, WP Rocket its F* OSOM!
@thomas Hello thomas, you must use spanish code. Because i use google translator to translate tutorial from spanish to english and some translated code lines are bad. :-(. Try this:
/* si usas jetpack, con esto eliminamos devicepx */
add_filter( 'jetpack_implode_frontend_css', '__return_false' );
function dequeue_devicepx() {
wp_dequeue_script( 'devicepx' );
}
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'dequeue_devicepx', 20 );
/* FIN si usas jetpack, con esto eliminamos devicepx */
/* con esto hacemos los 2 jquery de wordpress en uno solo*/
function optimize_jquery() {
if (!is_admin()) {
wp_deregister_script('jquery');
wp_deregister_script('jquery-migrate.min');
wp_deregister_script('comment-reply.min');
$protocol='http:';
if($_SERVER['HTTPS']=='on') {
$protocol='https:';
}
wp_register_script('jquery', $protocol.'//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.0/jquery.min.js', false, '3.6', true);
wp_enqueue_script(âjqueryâ);
}
}
add_action(âtemplate_redirectâ, âoptimize_jqueryâ);
/* FIN de con esto hacemos los 2 jquery de wordpress en uno solo*/
/*Otras optimizaciones */
function wpb_imagelink_setup() {
$image_set = get_option( âimage_default_link_typeâ );
if ($image_set !== ânoneâ) {
update_option(âimage_default_link_typeâ, ânoneâ);
}
}
add_action(âadmin_initâ, âwpb_imagelink_setupâ, 10);
function no_errors_please(){
return âTu computadora se autodestruirĂĄ en 60 segundos!';
}
add_filter( âlogin_errorsâ, âno_errors_pleaseâ );
Hi Marius,
thankÂŽs a lot helping finding a solution for my questions.
By this way I updated first the Newspaper theme from 6.0 to 6.1.
After this, I tried first to modify the comments.php as you explained in the screenshots. For this I made a backup for the original comments.php and added the Code.
After this I got follwing Error at the Page:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home/.sites/50/site186/web/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/comments.php on line 1
Note:
I copied and paste the Code like you adviced:
$defaults['comment_field'] = '<div class="clearfix"></div><p class="comment-form-input-wrap"><textarea placeholder="' . __td('Comment:', TD_THEME_NAME) . '" id="comment" name="comment" cols="45" rows="8" aria-required="true"></textarea></p>';
$defaults['comment_notes_before'] = '';
$defaults['comment_notes_after'] = '';
$defaults['title_reply'] = __td('LEAVE A REPLY', TD_THEME_NAME);
$defaults['label_submit'] = __td('Post Comment', TD_THEME_NAME);
$defaults['cancel_reply_link'] = __td('Cancel reply', TD_THEME_NAME);
// login with our login modal when you want to write a comment
if (td_util::get_option('tds_login_sign_in_widget') == 'show') {
$defaults['must_log_in'] = '<p class="must-log-in">' . 'You must be logged in to post a comment.</p>';
}
comment_form($defaults);
//comment_form();
?>
<?php } ?>
</div> <!-- /.content -->
So, there seems to be a missmatch with the changed code in Theme or WordPress. I switched back now to the original comments.php.
2.) By this way I want to ask if this code (when it runds without an error) also prevents the redirecting to the Error site ( if a user forgot to input the Name, Emailadress, comment ) ?
Maybe here could be done a codesnippet into the comments.php (checking via script) if a User forgot to filling out the Form Fields. So that User dont get the Error message in an blank Page. Instead the user is info message at the same Page where he wants to write a comment. I hope you know what I mean.
Thanks for your reply
With best regards, Karl
Hi,
Welcome to WordPress đ and thanks for joining to our community!
There is a check-box in Settings -> Discussion where you can set to allow users to post comment, no matter they are registered or not.
Also if you want to people login/register from there, (we will fix this in the next theme update) add this code http://pastebin.com/hZ3FuRtB like here: http://screencast.com/t/qG9mji17a5
About spamming/fake users registered this is not managed by the theme, is an WordPress issue, and the spam is from that wp-login.php probably. There are some plugins that prevent this, you can search on google about that or here:
http://w3guy.com/wordpress-plugin-combat-stop-spam-bot-registration/
http://www.cozmoslabs.com/18858-how-to-fight-user-registration-spam-on-your-wordpress-membership-site/
Hope this help!
Thanks for the message!

Hi,
In the latest update we changed everything, it’s practically a new theme and the old customization will not work, sorry. The best approach on this would be to create a local development install and try to rebuild the custom modifications for the new theme and when you’re done update the main site.
Before update please backup the entire site (files and database), in case something goes wrong use the backup to restore the site to it’s previous state.
Thank you!
Hi,
Since upgrading my site to “Newspaper 6”, I noticed that the commas on the pullquote are inverted. Here’s the link to the screenshot: http://s23.postimg.org/j3wyxoqln/pullquote.jpg
I have even updated to version 6.1 but the problem remains. I even looked up the demo site and it has this problem too. Please fix this issue.
