I used the plugin with the basic Newsmag configuration:
-theme version : 2.3.5
-Visual Composer version 4.9
-MyEffecto version 2.7

I also used the plugin with a mega menu and seams to work fine: http://screencast.com/t/wG5kAddHgleh You can try to make a new local install on your computer, with the latest version of WordPress, the current version of the theme available on themeforest, V 2.3.5, Visual Composer and MyEffecto plugins and test again.

I think I should of used my site design to explain better, see image below. Since I already have the feature image and title made out of visual composer and the rating section on the right, I don’t think I can just use the existing title from the post template and move into my content made from visual composer. because the rating section on the right may not position correctly. correct me if I’m wrong about this.

So I was thinking maybe I could hide the post title and feature image from the post template, and use my own made from visual composer. And how can I best hide the title in post template to not hurt my seo and use my made up title (h1 title) in visual composer? will google pickup this H1 title if I make it in visual composer?

but I think with my meathod I won’t be able to put the category tags under the title made in visual composer. its a bit hard to decide for me right now. :/

1. I’ve checked the background click ad functionality on my side and works fine. Please make sure that you set your background ad according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-background-ads/ deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again.
2. When a background-image it’s used the theme switch in boxed layout all content, including the header. This was the original implementation and to change it are required many customizations in theme’s files. This is a complex task and unfortunately I can’t provide a solution now. If you need this and you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you as we can’t offer customization services at the moment.

The photon feature of jetpack’s plugin generates and serves a new, re-sized image based on img element’s width and height attributes” besides the one theme smart list adds to the page.
The jetpack photon feature can cause issues and while the theme works based on the same system (creates and serves/uses thumbnails for each uploaded image). Also I’ve checked the smart list functionality on my side with the latest theme version available on themeforest, V 6.6.4, and works fine: http://screencast.com/t/8b7DhIFIKC5LTry deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, make sure you deactivate the Jetpck and Photon module too, clear all caches and test again.

I’ve checked the link provided as example and noticed that this is a custom post type which most likely it’s generated by one of your installed plugins Our theme have implementation for custom post types and the sidebar should be displayed fine. This issue could be caused by the widgets tile. You need to use just standard letters on the titles. Any other symbol such as !, @, #, $, or – , _ or language specific characters, will cause the sidebar and the widget area to remove widgets and sidebars.
Also try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and the one which generate the current post type, clear all caches and test again.

Visual Composer plugin it’s tested with our theme and works fine. Please make sure that you updated the theme and the Visual Composer plugin according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ deactivate all others plugins, just to make sure that there i no conflict between Visual Composer and some plugin, clear all caches and test again.

The theme wasn’t designed to use Visual Composer on post content so it’s possible to appear some issue with the layout in that situation. Try this css in theme panel > custom code > custom css and if the problem persit please provide a link so we can inspect it closer:

Our theme was built to respect the google standards in structured data regards and we didn’t do any tests with: https://validator.w3.org/ I’ve added this on our list and we will run some test to check if there is an incompatibility in html structure of the page. Meanwhile you can try to change or remove the role for search form by editing header-menu.php http://screencast.com/t/DzGjD3gLXF3
The pingback_url parameter should displays the pingback XML-RPC file url: http://screencast.com/t/l39D6FZuw9Q but in your case the url it’s empty. This issue could be caused by a plugin so you could try by deactivating all, leave just Visual Composer active, clear the cache ant test again.
Regarding the css errors these appear because it’s not recommended to use css code inside div tags.
The theme generate a custom css for each block, depending by user’s options, but this code cannot be included in style.css file. This problem it’s present on our demo too: http://screencast.com/t/UmG1YSWBEobU but does not affect the page load.
The theme use h3 tags for entry tiles but you can change that by modifying this functions: http://screencast.com/t/owy14wCxl

Because you’re using a very old version of the theme the update process could be a bit tricky.
First make sure you do a full backup to the database and your current wp install: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups in case something goes wrong you can allays get back to the previous version. Also consider the steps I’ve provide below:

– setup a maintenance mode and you can use a plugin for that.
– empty all caches/purge files if you also use CDN host then disable any services of this type until you switch to the new theme
– disable all plugins
– install the theme then install the required plugins: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/
– switch back the rest of the plugins and make sure that they work fine with the theme, you can check this by enabling the plugins one by one then test the site.

Regarding your customizations these will be lost during the update process so you have to re-add them again in theme files or in child theme. Also make sure that the customizations are still compatible with the new theme because many files are changed and also many functions so there is a chance to appear some conflicts.
You also will need to redo your pages because in a previous version the shortcodes for blocks has been changed so they won’t work anymore. Just edit the page with Visual Composer, delete the existent blocks then re-add them again. Such that the new shortcodes will be generated and the page should be displayed fine.
