The elements tagged as deprecated from Visual Composer are still available for usage and works fine with the theme. I can’t say for sure what developers from Visual Composer will do with these elements in future, but most likely they will be removed when the plugin will pass trough a major update. Best thing would be to use the new elements built to replace the old ones, as all deprecated elements has been replaced by new – more advanced and good looking copies.

I’ve checked your site and the theme works fine, didn’t found any errors or other things which may affect its functionality. I suspect that a plugin may cause this issue so you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again. I followed the instructions and updated the theme, but I have found a problem:

All the pages that use Visual Composer are now showing all elements as “Text blocks”, with the shortcode inside. I send you a few screens so you can better understand what I mean:

You need a plugin for that, free or premium. I am using qtranslate-X on my http://www.photocommand.com, which is also complemented by WPBakery Visual Composer & qTranslate-X, Yoast SEO & qTranslate-X, Advanced Custom Fields: qTranslate as those plugins gave me those options.

If I was starting today, I am not sure I would use qtranslate-X (I read it is a hard one to uninstall if you need to and it is not the most SEO friendly (take care when setting your URLs in the language implementation options).

I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’re using V 4.6.3 of Newspaper and V 4.4.4 of VC. We received some reports in the past regarding the high CPU usage with this version of VC. If you want to stay with this version try to downgrade the VC plugin at V 4.3.5 which require lower resources.
If you want to use the curen version of Visual Composer plugin available with the theme, then you need to update the theme to version 6.5.1 which has support for later versions of VC plugin and it’s also included within full theme’s package.
The current version of the Visual Composer included in theme’s package (4.7.4) has been tested and works fine. Also the plugin has passed through a major update, lots of security vulnerabilities have been fixed

If you decide to update please follow this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ backup your current install, run the import settings script, update plugins and check the result. You can always get back to the previous working theme version if something goes wrong as long as you backup it but doing the update as instructed the theme should work fine.
You should also consider into the process at the following aspects:
– backup your current theme/WordPress/database: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
– setup a maintenance mode and you can use a plugin for that.
– empty all caches/purge files if you also use CDN host then disable any services of this type until you switch to the new theme
– disable all plugins
– install the theme then install the required plugins
– switch back the rest of the plugins and start other services

To use diferent modules on the category page you will need custom modifications in theme’s core files and I cand provide a quick solution for that. Instead you can use blocks from Visual Composer, which are built from different modules, following this steps:
– first you need to set the block in VC and add a specific class for it as it’s necessary a custom css for this particular case: http://screencast.com/t/RmC19Befc

Hi,

This is exactly what I did, but the sidebar is still appearing twice, the widgetized sidebar and newmag default sidebar.

I intend going live tonight, I am familiar with Visual composer as I used it in my previous theme, but I am just stuck, this is the last thing I need to fix..

Please where can I send you a temporal admin login so you can fix it, then I pick it up from there.
