As a website owner, and yeah part of newspaper family, what do you suggest me about AMP? Different articles end up mixing similar pros and cons of it. What exactly is the use of “super fast speed” when your revenues are cut off (a friend of mine just took off from AMP because the revenues were falling greatly). Just need your word of advice here.

Hi. I am having some problems with the theme in Wanerd.com. As I checked, in Google PageSpeed Insights our website have got a good puntuation, and if I visit it from my computer, there’s no problem, because it loads with a good time. But, if you visit it from a smartphone, it takes too long to load, and also the Lazy Load effects doesn’t show and there are some problems with the background of the menu and the search for the first seconds. How can I solve this? I tried all that appears on your PageSpeed optimization guide, unistalling all the plugins and also changing the hosting company (nowadays is an VPS), with no result.

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. The only render blocking resource it seems to be a plugin. If you are using the Speed booster note that the booster will not be active if it detects other plugins, which are not part of a predefined list. More information about this here

This check could be deactivated if needed as mentioned in that topic as a workaround, then the booster will always be active. Note that it could create issues for some plugins, make tests to see if this happens.

After investigating, I solved most of the problems.
1. The problem number one was the plugin Speed Booster, doing strange effects on mobile version.
2. The second problem was the custom css. By default, the theme loads the css at the end, and that was the problem of the strange effects at loading. What I did is install a Custom CSS plugin that allows me to load the css at the beggining, and then the problem disappears.
3. The third problem, and I have not solved it yet, is visual composer. When you choose full width for a row, the row loads less width and after a second it turns to full width, producing an ugly effect. Why? This is probably a theme bug, because I checked other websites made with Newspaper and EVERYBODY has the same problem using full width rows with visual composer.
So my questions are:
1. Can you propose a new setting for the next update that allows you to chose if you want to load the css at the beggining or at the end?
2. By now, and to avoid installing a plugin for custom css, there is any code that I can use to load the css at the beggining?
3. Is there any way to solve the problem with visual composer and full width rows?

I want to say that most of the problems are theme bugs. Speed Booster is a plugin made by TagDiv, and it produces errors. The theme loads custom css at the end by default and you can’t change it. Finally, there is a problem with visual composer and the theme, loading late full width rows made with VC.
I would appreciate that this time you can help me finding solutions to my problems, at least at the visual composer bug.

Hi Simon, I was able to remove roboto font completely by going also to td_fonts.php and replacing Roboto – Roboto Condensed- Roboto Slab with a letter, deleteing the values would break the all the fonts.
One last thing, I have been trying to speed up my website by removing undesired font weights.
I don’t need font weight 700 & 800 in open sans, I went td_confing.php to remove some font weights, but still shows, check the link in bold.

These errors seem to be related to ads, they do not appear on desktop. I would suggest if possible to remove the ad codes where entered and test to see if this improves the website speed. There are also many speed optimization guides here on the forum, very useful to read

The theme looks fantastic! It is easy to add new posts and get them to look great.
I have two issues with the Newspaper theme that I need help on:
1. The mobile menu is not working properly on mobile devices. I upgraded to the new V8 theme, and ever since, I can not update the mega menu in the WordPress menu section. It does not give me the option to add featured posts of categories to the mega menu either. All but one of the menu items work on mobile. The main item, the drop down with the images of the posts is not working on mobile. News Room is the menu item that does not show properly on mobile. I have not been too impressed with the mobile app add-on, as you can not view actual pages and are limited to only posts. So, I am using the responsive theme without the mobile app add-on. I realize that it speeds up the mobile site, but if you can not get them to look the same, what is the point?

2. When using the TagDiv builder, I noticed that you can not add any links to any of the content. You have descriptions for content for team/staff members bios, content blocks, text with titles, and all do NOT allow you to add a simple little link. Any advice on how to make this work? We have some team members that have websites or links to youtube videos, and this can not be added to the team section. The social media icons are cool, but not everyone has those as contact info. What about a phone number, email, and a website link? Not seeing those vital things for the team feature. I did see an option to add your own HTML code, but that is why we are using the builder to speed things along and have features like hero sections, title and text, and the many more you offer.

last night 22:14 I deleted those pics from wordpress media library — and post updated pictures back again…
Since I reported to you – probably deleted 30 times…
It is outside of the wordpress structuralised media system : wp-uploads folder – but not in the YEAR/MONTH directory..
Yesterday morning I reseted wordpress with clean install after drop all table in db.
Then imported back everything with xml’s.

1., mobil theme has interfere with the ahmed kaludi’s ampforwp plugin – mobil-view on desktop/laptop pc. ( contacted with them also )

There is a massive server resource ( 30gib ram, 2*2.1 ghz cpu, 100 gib NVE-SSD disk, cloudlinux 7, litespeed webserver, cloudflare railgun, etc ).
When created this ticket the website was on Nginx server. Since its moved to new location, problem not only the same but more.

If the hosting is not an issue, you have to check what exactly is causing the slow loading speed. Analyze the website, error logs, deactivate all plugins except theme plugins and see if this has any effect.

The speed booster plugin will move the stylesheet and javascript loading to the bottom of the page. This should improve the website speed by simply activating the plugin

Activating it should not cause the header menu to be black, that is unusual.
The plugin status will appear in the theme status section, it will not be active if it detects plugins that are not part of a predefined list. This is implemented because the booster could cause some plugins to not function correctly. The check could be disabled with the solution provided in this topic
