Indeed adding more features will result in a few extra queries. There were lots of features added since version 7. There were 2 major updates with lots of new features in between newspaper 7 and newspaper 9
Performance is still a concern to us ad we will not sacrifice the theme performance for adding new features but we do have to improve the theme functionality also. You cannot ad new features without some performance loss. We are working on optimization though so performance will see an increase in future releases. We are constantly working on new features but on performance optimization as well.

Indeed there is a bug in some demos requesting images from our own local servers. Please access the theme panel and simply remove the images from the mobile and search background and upload an image from your media library.
this will be fixed in future versions

There is no way to add content into the category on the existing default templates. Only by creating a new template can you ad your preferred content to the category page. You can import already made templates and then simply place the ads you want on the page without actually creating it from scratch.

This issue can originate from a bunch of different causes. The most common ones are a file getting blocked by your firewall, file permission issues, access to our servers being blocked by your host or simply plugin conflicts. Yes, there will be a counter working extra to keep track of all the posts from the past 7 days and filter them by popularity. Each option you activate will result in a slight performance hit as the theme has to work extra for each one. If you want top loading speeds you need to keep things as simple as possible. if you activate too many options and use too many different complex elements on your site, the page speed will go down as there will be more requests to handle.

We have not tested such a code so there is no solution we can provide officially. Autoptimize or w3tc are not tested with our theme so we did not run any tests or simulations in this regard. Unfortunately third party plugin implementation is not covered by the theme support so you will have to hire a freelancer to help out with the code needed. Thank you for understanding.

This issue usually happens when the HTML on the page gets broken. Please check the html tags on that page and make sure all html tags are intact.
Plugin conflicts can also affect the sidebars so please also test this without plugins.

If you select a particular category, then the block will show all posts that have tat category specified. The problem comes when you have a post belong to multiple categories. It will show up in every block that shows any one of it’s categories.
