I know they do memberships, but I’m not aware that allows content drip (or fade) as is used on many professional newspapers, for example:

Thanks for replying – but I see no reference to “paywall” in either of those docs. I, like, I’m sure, many publishers, don’t sell anything except content. I use Newspaper – as the name implies – to publish editorial content, not sell products. The content is the product. I’m not a shop, so Woo Commerce seems irrelevant to me.

Can you give a specific link to any Woo Commerce plugin that allows content access to be restricted and offers subscriber access like Leaky Paywall does here?

Do you see that only the first two paragraphs are visible without subscribing? This is a paywall.

The problem with Leaky Paywall is it doesn’t work on any cloud template, so I am restricted to using a tiny amount of Newspaper’s scope. Hence I ask for Newspaper to offer something obvious – an integrated paywall and subscription plugin. It really seems the most elementary feature that a publishing theme should have.

Thanks – I think topmagazin’s point might be that an announcement needs making once a major fix like that is done. Others might not be following this topic in the forum and be unaware of a problem. I suppose that would mean emailing all customers…

Agreed topmagazin – it’s a major issue. Newspaper takes little notice of the need for publications to make money. Emphasises (not so comprehensive) design over day-to-day functionality, survival, even.

Well, only one I think – it’s tagDiv Composer that is/was the problem.

I still think NP should work on a seamless integrated paywall plugin.

I see there is a problem with Stripe in other plugins. I think it’s established from other posts in the forum there is a problem with tagDiv Composer in 10.4. Leaky Paywall’s developer has researched and identified a problem in Composer, not in the plugin. So I look forward to 10.4.1 with a fix.

As I have said many times, Newspaper, to really be number one, needs to work on its own integrated paywall plugin. Amazingly, getting paywalls, the way forward in online publishing, to work with Newspaper is a big problem, not just in regard to Stripe.

No content restriction plugin I have tried will work with any Newspaper cloud post template, meaning anyone who wants to restrict content cannot use the full design capability of Newspaper. Use a content restrictor with a Newspaper cloud post and the membership prompt only appears at the end of the article, after all content has already been revealed.

Why doesn’t somebody at Newspaper address this obvious issue?

Newspaper needs to start taking note that newspapers need to make money. If they want to be really pro a priority should be an integrated paywall plug-in.

Is this a known problem with 10.4 then? Leaky Paywall have suggested disabling tagDiv Composer. That would be pretty major. Is Stripe hanging with other plug-ins?

Vlad – I have tested this element in another position and author is showing ok in iPad Portrait, so it must have been a glitch or cache problem. Appears solved, thanks.

Hi Vlad – sorry, yes, I replaced the Flex Box 1 excerpt in that position with column text. However, it would be good to know for the future. I assume the problem may be some corruption in my software. The author used to appear but one day just disappeared.

Or you could just reduce your browser window to get the effect! That’s what I’m doing. I have no iPad.

This is different – I’m calling for author to show in Flex Block 1 preview. It used to but doesn’t anymore (in iPad Portrait – in other viewports it shows ok). So I suspect a bug or corruption in my theme. Waiting advice from support.

Further, I see the problem varies with browser. Safari shows “More from this author” completely broken as here – https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lYG9zDyZFLi0p_85nIhkHlTN_Sl70zw9/view?usp=sharing but Firefox and Chrome show “More from this author” ok.

However, the article title font is wrong in all cases.

I tried Single Post Smartlist in case this substitutes for missing elements but when I drag it over it will not stick or load into the column.

To avoid the bad look I have temporarily changed this post to Style 1 from panel. But I would prefer to be able to use a cloud template in this case, though I otherwise avoid them for reliability and paywall functionality.

The elements in question are Single Related Posts and Single More From Author and neither of these exist anymore in the “Single post shortcodes” list.

What goes in place?

Loading tagDiv composer for this page I get the message:

“DID YOU DISABLE ANY TAGDIV PLUGINS? We’ve got some errors at loading API files. It could happen because of a disabled TagDiv plugin!”

I didn’t disable anything, just updated through the theme.

Please suggest this to your development team – it’s an obvious option, a most basic design choice. All that is possible currently is a large double column image. It’s not a good enough choice.

However, this would be possible with CSS, right? Newspaper already has that option under Reviews.
