Regarding the issue, note that the old API plugin will not work anymore. You can use the new creative plugin for this purpose – https://forum.tagdiv.com/developer-info/

But maybe what you are trying to do is possible without resorting to this plugin. The flex blocks have multiple options and settings and can be customized in many ways. You could use a flex block instead of adding new ones.

If the problem is still there, please delete( delete the theme plugins too, do not override ) the current version of Newspaper that you have and download again from themefores the newspaper and reinstall it.

Unfortunately I do not know the steps that you need to do to integrate your login plugin in login modal because we did not tested any kind of plugins in this way, also this in custom work in theme files, you need to do it yourself through the code and if you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take, in this case, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!
