We use wordpress functions like wp_query – https://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/WP_Query
We don’t make direct database requests, all database requests are made via wordpress.
The requests made by the theme are fully optimized. Try to check the error.log file to see if there’s anything related to this issue.
