Hi there I am running Newspaper Version 6.6.3. My Installatron automatically updated Visusal Composer, but it was not loading. The website was unaffected but I wanted to adjust the frontpage.
Today I needed to change the frontpage. So I downloaded the latest newspaper package so I could re-install the visual composer manually. When I went to plugins and disabled wp bakery visual composer the website displayed error 500. Now the entire website has crashed.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
I have root access so httpd log:

I already renamed the js_composer directory to .js_composer to effectively disable it. I also reverted to PHP 5.6 legacy mode instead of PHP 7.0. So far no joy.
Hello alpsbox,
1)Please notice that you will have to alter the code from the core file in order to achieve best results. So, for example, if you are using the post template style 1, you will have to change the code from the loop-single-1.php using the following steps, like so -> http://screencast.com/t/JA74POSdkGNs and then http://screencast.com/t/gWid9lxdY The code you will found here -> http://pastebin.com/U6g7iX7E and the result you should see here -> http://screencast.com/t/hT2SK3YbTJa9
2)Please notice that if you want to decrease the space between your paragraphs, you will have to decrease the padding-bottom for them. Please try the code below and place it in Theme panel->Cusotm CSSa rea.
The code is ->
.td-post-content p{
margin-bottom:2px!important;
}
3)Please try the code below ->
.entry-title a:hover, .td_block_wrap a:hover {
text-decoration: underline!important;
}
Hope this helps!
Thanks.
Hi
I’ve checked your site and noticed that the images used for module 16 are not cut at the right sizes, that’s why the page layout it’s affected. Try to regenerate your thumbnails following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thanks!
Hi,
I’m sorry, but since i update, everything goes wrong.
I do everything you say, i use se second choice for the columns, disable all the plugins except visual composer, clear the cache, remove all my custom css, and i’m not using CDN files.
And nothing change.
I try everything on the back office, just put block with visual composer, and try template too.
Anything are brocken. I don’t understand, I need to make this site for a client for the end of the week, last dead-line, and now i don’t know what to do.
You can see it online here.
http://www.farawaytrip.com
Please help.
Thanks in advanced
Thanks for the response. What a shame – for a product that produces such beautiful design, the user interface (and amount of work) is just so poorly designed. I can’t imagine why they don’t just offer a drop down of being able to choose multiple categories or posts. And the process of looking up category and post IDs – hovering over a link and memorizing the number to retype it? Seems archaic.
So, two questions:
1) Is there any way to export a file of post names and IDs? At least I’d have something I can copy and paste.
2) How do we use CPTs? For example, I use GeoDirectory and have a lot of Events and Places I need to use in the blocks.
So if I add filter for “10001” – a regular post ID, it works
But if I add filter for “22222” – which is an Event ID, it does not. I’m sure it’s just a code thing where I’m supposed to specify gd_event=22222 or something like that…
Thank you!
I use newmag theme for my website but then I buy newspaper. I would like to change the theme. I delete newmag and upload newspaper theme. But there is some problem with the new theme. Google ads do not display as usual and some codes display on the homepage. Moreover, the big block doesn’t display at my homepage. Please see the picture!
Hello,
If you would like to place an ad in the category pages, you need to edit the theme files and add a do_shortcode function like so: http://screencast.com/t/DYiP4BqzgV3V
You have to do this for every category template you use as each one has it’s own file.
Make sure you have an ad set in custom ad 1.
<?php echo do_shortcode('[td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_1"]');?>
Thank you!
Hello justmevalthemar,
I suppose that you are using the Newspaper 4.5 version, right? Please notice that the latest version of our theme is Newspaper 7 that come bundled with the all required plugins (Visual Composer ->4.11.2, Social Counter 4.0). I suppose that you are using the latest version of WordPress (4.5.2) and please notice that the version 4.5 of the theme are not tested with this. I recommend you to update your theme to the latest version. Please follow the steps below in order to achieve best results in this regard.
In order to update from newspaper 6, you need to delete the old theme altogether and copy over the new theme via FTP. Then simply run the update script from the welcome screen: http://screencast.com/t/NXxqfbe4T
Before the update make sure you do a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings.
The shortcodes have been changed so old ones will not work anymore. Please note that old files customization or custom css will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust or re-add them.
You will have to re-apply a few settings though as some elements change their order and number such as blocks or post templates so a post template from newspaper 4 for example post style 3, will not be post style 3 anymore but a different number.
You will only have to allow a half hour to restore your site to it’s previous setup.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi
1.You can use theme’s custom ad-spots to display your ad above the logo. First you have to place your ad-code in one of the available custom ads. Then you have to edit the file corresponding with header style used and add this code like here: http://screencast.com/t/C9xwScefN
I’ve used custom ad 1 as example for header style 7.
2 Add do_shortcode function in page-pagebuilder-latest.php file: http://screencast.com/t/egUxLLUCs http://screencast.com/t/8lHVlabaDs
Also you will need this css in theme panel > custom code > custom css:
.td-container.td-pb-article-list .td-container-border {
border-bottom: 1px solid #e6e6e6;
}
3. Unfortunately the theme does not have an option to add infinite scroll on posts. To achieve that you’ll need some customizations in theme’s core files. This is a complex task and I can’t provide a solution for the moment. If you need this and you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer to help you with implementation.
Try this css to hide the search cos:
.td-search-wrapper{
display: none;
}
Thanks!
Hi
Block 15 use modules mx1 and mx2 to display posts so you have to modify the css corresponding for these modules: http://screencast.com/t/1dS0gS0FZ
Thanks!

Greetings,
How can I remove the title limit in Block 1 and Block 7?
I want to show all the text without the ellipsis.
thanks in advance
IvoPereira
Many of the article display views for archives look like they can support 6 stories but are only showing 5. This looks funny. This is true in many other blocks.
How can I change this to 6 so that the page looks complete?
The entire filtering system of VC seems crazy to me…or I’m totally missing something. I really hope it’s the latter. Is there any way to just choose which posts/categories/etc you want in each block? Having to look up every number is just excruciating. I can’t fathom why VC did this…? Is there any plugin that let’s you pick/choose categories/posts without having to manually look up a number?
Also, does anyone know the code to get the post id for custom post types? I’m able to enter a regular post, but that’s it. What does the filter code look like for a custom post type?
I love the NP built in blocks and mods…but they are almost impossible to use. To build a typical homepage would take days with the current VC.
Hi,
Great theme, loving every minute of it.
Two things I’m having problems with. First is the mobile theme (which looks great), I notice that the short code for ‘blocks’ in Visual Composer don’t get converted and just show the short code. I don’t have the mobile theme activated right now because of that for a demonstration.
The site in question is an adult site to warn you: https://mobilevrxxx.com.
The second problem is, I have a block of direct HTML injected at the top of my posts to inject player codes to each post. When ever I browse my site, the slide-in of the next post slides in from the right to show the next post, but it’s garbled with the HTML injected code.
Thank you
Dear Sir,
I have “advertising” put in line of My some Article.
But how if one of my article, I don’t want to show the “advertising”
How is it,.. Thanks
Okay, so I’ve left my setup in learning mode 2-3 weeks and found something everyone should know. While in learning mode, you use the theme panel so Wordfence can learn to let the admin-ajax.php calls through, but it’s not that that simple.
Wordfence not only sets exceptions for admin-ajax.php, but for the parameters that are sent to it. Every setting in the theme is a different parameter.
So the way you have to use Wordfence with a tagDiv theme is simply to turn learning mode on during periods when you’re adjusting theme settings. When done, turn learning mode back off so you’re protected. Then, if you change a theme setting that you already used specifically in learning mode, it’ll always work, but if you get to a new one that you didn’t adjust while in learning mode, it will be blocked by Wordfence. That’s why you turn learning mode back on.
I admit, it’s a slight pain to go back and forth, but having this great theme with good security? Can’t beat that.
Hope this helps.

Hi Bogdan,
Thanks for the response and apologies for the late reply. I’ve tried adding the Amazon advert in both text mode from the editor (in a post), as well as using the ‘Raw JS’ component of visual composer on the home page (just under the advert block): http://bestforcats.co.uk
For some reasons it’s still not appearing, although it does seem to load in the inspector. The theme documentation mentions removing the <script> tags but this seems to break the page.
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys
I want to basically insert an ad block after the articles but also after the share buttons at the bottom and above the related content.
This will be for RevContent.
I’m not sure how to do it so any help would be really appreciated 🙂
I’m loving the theme by the way, it blows all others out of the water!!!
well not everybody have updated their theme so this question should never be answered
That’s their fault, not ours. We (with larger pages) have to make sure we investigate the issue, analyze if somebody used the hole and inserted some bad stuff… so no valid argument.
td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_X”
I use these shortcodes to show ads on specific areas such as bottom of a list article. When I updated to Newspaper 7 these shortcodes stopped working. The problem is still there after updating to 7.1
Please help!
Hey guys, I also submitted a different help question on the forum yesterday. So basically, I have this sidebar that I want to use fully on desktop, but not on tablets or mobile phones. Can this be made possible? I like the left sidebar instead of the right, but, when I use it on my phone or tablet, the sidebar comes first and blocks out the article title and content right away. I you’d like an example of what I’m looking for, i want it to be similar to the one on lakersnation.com. Thanks for your time. In the meantime, I’ll disable a sidebar from my post/page template.
Hello,
I would like to know if we can implement mockingbird code on the newspaper theme…As you know, 18% desktop users are using an adblocker to navigate the web.
It’s essential for my site this kind of solutions to improve adsense profit.
https://github.com/retargetly/mockingbird
Many thanks,
Hello,
I can’t get a sidebar to appear next to the latest articles loop on my homepage. The only was I was able to get a sidebar on the homepage was by using a “widgetized sidebar” block on VC, but of course that only appears next to the VC content, leaving a gap next to the loop.
Please advise. Site url: http://www.brazilophiles.com/
Thanks in advance!
When installing the Mobile Theme component for the first time, we were under the impression that it featured a customizable homepage with the option to place various blocks and other elements. This was based on the demo that’s available:

We were disappointed to find out that the homepage of the mobile theme is restricted to a “Featured” block at the top and recent posts on the bottom. Our site has repurposed the “Featured” category so for us, it doesn’t make sense to put these at the top of the page.
We’d really like to use the Mobile Theme for the obvious speed benefits but we will wait until more customization options are available for the homepage. Are there plans to offer this in future versions?
