thanks, that topic was very helpful in understanding child theme even more clearly.
Can I lose my modifications? (when I update?) I have not made any changes to the theme files itself. The theme files are as they were before, I have only made the social media icons a little bigger using the CSS panel available in the theme panel? rest of the changes are just the arrangement of blocks, grids, logos etc. nothing to fancy.
I may lose these things worries me?
Hy you all
thanks for your suggestions. Some browsers, yes, make use of blocker. But the real helper is Catalin. I really appreciate your high quality support.
So my homework now is to discover the bad thing inside.
the row says
<div class="td-header-ad-wrap td-ad-m td-ad-tp td-ad-p" style="display: none !important;">
</div>
but the style.css at line 281
has
.single-post #td-theme-settings,
.single-post .td-header-top-menu,
.single-post .td-header-menu-wrap,
.single-post .td-header-sp-rec,
.single-post .td-main-sidebar,
.single-post .td-post-source-tags,
.single-post .td-post-sharing,
.single-post .td-post-next-prev,
.single-post .td_block_related_posts,
.single-post #comments,
.single-post .td-footer-container,
.single-post .td-sub-footer-container,
.single-post .entry-crumbs,
.single-post .td-category,
.single-post .td-post-views,
.single-post .td-post-comments,
.single-post .td-scroll-up,
.single-post iframe,
.single-post .td-more-articles-box {
display: none !important;
}
I don’t think the problem is here becasue I tried to comment this row.. the result is the same.
In only one browser I see it. the others report a lot of style coded in gray with the word
“outbrain”
this drives me nut. Because the WP setup is fresh, and really I’m disabling almost all the plugins installed.. the problem persists.
Tomorrow I retry.
EDIT: I saved a local copy to try a find-in-file
but probably this is a 64base coded injection.
Ugo
I tried changing all DEFAULTBLOCKQUOTE, BOX QUOTE and PULL QUOTE (inside Theme Fonts->Post Content inside preferences) but nothing happens. I just want to stop converting all the text to uppercase.
Any idea?
I want the site default font for the Chinese font 微軟正黑體 (Microsoft JhengHei)
But I uploaded after JhengHei.woff can be displayed, but the site starts up slowly …
Another BLOCKS / WIDGETS TITLE font size selection has no effect, has been maintained at size 12
My English is not good enough. Sorry about that.
Hello Catalin,
That does not appear to have fixed it. I verified the PHP settings (screenshot below), purged all caches, and then tried again and still not getting results:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2650274/2f18ceffb0829a049c19afc40e38564e
To clarify, it does save my changes – e.g. if I add a new block, it will save the block and it’s placement. It is simply not honoring / updating any of my filters or settings (e.g. category specifications, limit post numbers, etc.).
Here are the current PHP.ini settings:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2650289/5da7f1ea7ee0f6c4002b9faafc42b26a
Thanks and please let me know how to proceed.
Dear SImion,
I am truly impressed by your support! Thank you!!!
My last question for now:
on my current layout the top half of the theme is editable but the lower part I cannot change in the composer. the different blocks and colums dcannot be clicked and don’t highlight in blue, so I can’t delete anything. Why is this?
Thanks
Hi all,
I have finally decided to migrate the componer and use the TagDiv one. I have many problems That I have overcome steps by steps but I´m stuck with one: images are shown oversized in their conteiners.
There is no problem with I use HTML element or any of the “blocks” elements. But when I want to use “single image” or a row of 4 images those are shown oversized and the composer try to fill the complete container. Meaning, if the image has 100px width and the conteiner of the image has 200px, the composer will oversize the image to 200px.
Any thought on that?
Thanks
PD: if you look at my webpage is NOT using TagDiv composer right now but it´s the homepage what I´m trying to replicate.
Hi,
The icons were specifically created for that demo and there are no other icons provided. If you would like to use different icons in the menu please follow this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-add-icons-in-menu/
There is a wide selection of Font-awesome icons to choose from.
The background color of the main header menu can be changed in the theme panel
– https://www.screencast.com/t/VXelfU7tMc
If you mean the block titles background, that is an image
– https://www.screencast.com/t/FayTCSKda7cC
Here you can see all the available block header styles

Thank you, but I missed the block name. How to set the size of big grid full 1?
Hello Amekaze,
If you want to increase the height of your Big Grid 1, please notice that you should use a bit of CSS code to make these changes. Try the code below and place it in Theme panel ->Custom CSS area and then, you should regenerate your Thumbnails with Force Regenerate or Thumbnails Regenerate.
.td_block_big_grid_1 .td-big-thumb .td-module-thumb {
height: 600px;
}
.td_block_big_grid_1 .td-small-thumb .td-module-thumb {
height: 298px;
}
The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/yilZJiiZIUR0
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
Yes that option hides the category tag on both posts and category pages. If you enable it, the respective category will not be displayed in both locations. Try enabling it and then modify this file from the theme
– https://www.screencast.com/t/o8Hexr97jzt
Like this for example
– https://www.screencast.com/t/nlrXsezm
Now that that hidden category tag will remain hidden on posts, and it should display on the category pages.
For the modules it is not easy to do what you want. Changes to these modules will affect all the website. Their default behavior is to get the main category of a post, or the primary one that overrides this. If you would like them to exclude a certain category tag while displaying the post, and display a different category without setting a primary category, it will have to be made custom. I suggest you consider hiring a freelancer or developer to make these modifications, because we cannot provide this level of custom work at the moment, sorry.
Or think of a simpler way to achieve something like this, using the default category and block settings
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
Thanks
Hi,
Please try to use images at least the size of the container you want them to show up in. The theme will crop images but it will not enlarge them.
If your images are large enough though, you can try this method: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thanks
Hello epicmag,
Please notice that you can display the latest posts from a certain category if you will use the category ID for that and place it in Block Settings, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/rTKetLdUCq For more information about Block Settings, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
I want to create a list of external news sources on my home page similar to how it displays using the blocks to list image, excerpt, link. So when the read more is clicked it opens a new window with the news source. Is this possible using this theme?
Hi guys,
I’ve been trying to figure this out for an hour, and after a lot of meticulous trial and error, I figured I should ask. I’m trying to adjust the font size on my homepage Big Grid (currently Big Grid Full 7, but this could change), and I cannot for the life of me figure out which of the 36 “Modules MX and Other Blocks – Article Title” categories to edit to make the headlines into a legible size. Is there some sort of visual roadmap to what module is what? Or perhaps some way to see what “module” I’m working on? I’ve edited the sizes of all of the Big Grid categories in the Fonts panel, and while the typeface will change if I select a different Default Font, I cannot get any of the headlines to grow or shrink. I’ve ended up changing the fonts on everything on the page except the one thing I actually want to change.
I’ve seen the info on the page https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-blocks-modules/, but I evidently don’t know the difference between a “block” or a “module” or which, if either of these, is a “Big Grid”. It’s just a table full of numbers to me. What am I missing?
I want to set the height of the big grid 1 as same size as slider.
I put the code in custom code, but it doesn’t work.
@media (min-width: 767px) {
.td_block_big_grid_1 .td-module-thumb {
min-height: 600px!important;
}}
Could you please tell me how to set it?
using an ad blocker?
Catalin, it’s not a problem with the caches. Here is the link: http://e50.4da.myftpupload.com/this-weeks-featured-artist-tim-carr-talks-photography-and-24-hours-in-havana/. You will see at the bottom of the post that “RELATED ARTICLES” and “MORE FROM AUTHOR” are both in all caps, even though the Theme Fonts > Modules and Blocks General > Blocks/Widgets Title > Transform is currently set to None(normal text). I just double-checked. You can also see in the right sidebar of the link above, that the title of the “Latest Posts” widget is responding properly, showing “Latest Posts” and not “LATEST POSTS”. As a trouble-shoot, when I change the Transform setting to Uppercase, the Latest Posts title becomes LATEST POSTS. And when I change the Transform to Lowercase, both titles become all lowercase, showing “related articles” and “more from author” and “latest posts.” So it seems that the RELATED ARTICLES and MORE FROM AUTHOR titles aren’t responding when set to None(normal text). Can you please help fix this?
Simion, I can see that you think I am over complicating things. However, if you look closely, I think you will see that I am trying to make things more simple on this website. I would like to have a gallery where visitors can see all of the posts, and then sort posts by categories. I know that this is possible with this theme through adding an Ajax filter to one of the blocks. However, then there is a separate design/layout when the visitor clicks on a category which brings them to a different category page. Having these two page designs – one with a block and ajax filter, and the other the theme’s standard category page – is confusing to a visitor, in my view. So I would like to make things more simple, having only one gallery where all of the posts are visible and sorted by category, and the category tags linking to this gallery. One way to achieve this would involve putting all of the posts into one additional category (Gallery) and then blocking that category designation from being seen in posts and blocks. You can see that this is what I have done (http://e50.4da.myftpupload.com/category/gallery/). I have linked my Gallery menu item to the Gallery category page where visitors can see all of the posts, and then search according to category. Now whenever anyone wants to click on a category tag, they will be brought to one central gallery that is navigable by categories. **The only problem is the one that I outlined above…in using the code you provided and setting primary categories, the category tags are no longer consistent. I can think of a few solutions: I can see in the Theme Panel that the theme offers the option to HIDE CATEGORY ON POST AND ON CATEGORY PAGES; is it possible to separate these into two different options? Then I could hide the category on posts, and it would still remain on the category pages. Secondly, we could find a way to block the “Gallery” tag without it clearing the category tag altogether, perhaps allowing the next alphabetical category tag to show. Finally, we could find some way to block the Gallery tag without choosing a primary category. I could also go a different route, and set up a Gallery page with a block and ajax filter, and then we could link the category tags to route to the individual category pages within the ajax filter of the block. Any of these solutions would be quite helpful. If you have another idea on how I can reach this goal, I am most grateful. Thanks for your continued efforts to get this correct.
Please note, the theme doesn’t seem to be honoring any of my filters, including limit post number” but also other things like specific categories. For example, this block is set to display only specific category of “Ask the Oracle” but it is clearly showing posts from the category”Recipes.” So, it is set to a category filter of ID 4, but is actually only showing the 3 latest posts that don’t have that ID at all.
Here is a screenshot of the settings and results: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2646935/8df3d31dd1676fee90d7f6b7bdf7af1a
As well as the posts lists to clarify that they are categorized appropriately:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2646927/4d4525f47bcb3f7e7c586bcfbc4d57cc
This is likely related to the limit post numbers, but maybe not. Thanks for your assistance in advance.
Hello, I am having an issue where no matter what grid I am using and how many ways I change it, the “limit post number” functionality is not working. For example, under a Big Grid 8 box, I want to use a “Block 12” block to set the 2 most recent posts from a specific category. No matter what variations I try, it always shows 5 posts. If I set it to 2 and then go to view the live page, 5 are shown and then when I re-open the TD editor, the “Limit Post Number” field is back to 5… My changes won’t stick or work:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2646890/0b678de7818f1f707622aa18c27e0551
After Save:
https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/2646905/958df91250cbcc3ddba1e7b3fd06aaca
Can you please help me find the correct solution. Thanks!
Hello, I would like to display the latest post for each of 7 categories using Big Grid 8 as shown in your tech demo. However, it appears to only show the latest 7 posts total, regardless of category. I have tried specifying categories but it doesn’t seem to work. Is this possible?
Thanks!
How do I create new custom ad blocks in my newspaper theme site? I am not using google ads just our own custom ads so I have more to include, also can I track impressions and clicks through this ?
Hi.
Well, I was looking for something like this:
html
{ font-family: serif; }
.td-logo-text-container .td-logo-text, .td-logo-text-container .td-tagline-text
{ font-family: sans-serif; }
body, p, .wp-caption-text, .wp-caption-dd, .td-page-content .dropcap,
.td-post-content .dropcap, .wpb_text_column .dropcap, .td_block_text_with_title .dropcap, .bbpress .dropcap, .woocommerce #tab-description .dropcap, .mce-content-body .dropcap, .comment-content .dropcap, .td_block_author .td_author_wrap, .td_top_authors .td-authors-url a, .td_wrapper_video_playlist .td_video_title_playing, .tdc-missing-external-shortcode, .td-block-missing-settings, .tdc_external_shortcode, .td-sml-caption
{ font-family: Georgia, Times, serif!important; text-align: justify }
etc.
It’s the theme’s default typography, grouped by font-family
But ok. I did it my self.
🙂
Hello polys_a,
Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option for it, sorry! Please notice that the Article Inline Ad is a general rule for all the posts/articles. Another alternative for you would be to manually add your ad in content, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/WJTOkKfq7rMe -> [td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_1"] Also, ensure that your custom Ad 1 is not empty -> https://www.screencast.com/t/J8ZovgUd3n
Thanks for your understanding!
