In our case we’re a 33 year old publishing firm with dedicated server, so no need for external service. We use mod_pagespeed and server side caching, which caches our images but also auto converts to bleeding edge formats like “webp” for Chrome and Android, from our highly optimized jpeg images done here in Photoshop.

But most folks don’t spend $700+ a month on dedicated box 🙂

Of course, in your case if a plugin makes a local featured image, it then adds it to the gallery so that WP can generate the thumbs, which are NOT done from external URL. So, that might defeat the purpose of what you’re trying to do. You would need to build some kind of custom CDN hook to load the image from CDN into your post, then the plugin we use would make THAT a featured image and generate the thumbs for local loading on indexes.

Sorry not a better answer …. 🙂

I’ve tried a few plugins, they all give the same result. About copyrights issues – all images are legit, my aim is to reduce server load. I’m using http://cloudinary.com/ service. It’s a great service providing compression and CDN for your files (there is also a free plan), so instead of hosting your images on your local server, you can host them on the cloud server. In such a way you gain point in page speed, in cache and in server load time (noting that the Newspaper theme uses Lazy Load as well). If you are putting an image in your post, I recommend using this service. In my case, I want the featured image to be loaded from an external URL. Maybe eventually I will find something.

I’m using W3TC and Cloudflare with Flexible SSL enabled. I’ve disabled minification on Cloudflare and am using W3TC to reduce the number of requests. I do basic minification of CSS and html, but not JS since minifying JS breaks images on my front page. I also combine all CSS into a single file and JS into a single file to reduce the number of requests to my server, which also has the benefit of removing query strings so I can be sure all my CSS, JS, and HTML is being cached correctly by any caching proxies between me and my readers. Minifying html also improves pagespeed slightly since Cloudflare doesn’t cache or optimize HTML.

This also has the added benefit of not having to do a manual process every time I update my Newspaper theme.

Obviously, I’ve also disabled Cloudflare in the W3TC plugin so it doesn’t know I’m using Cloudflare. This means if I do feel the need to clear my Cloudflare cache for some reason, I have to do it manually from the Cloudflare website.

Hi,

Please disable all your plugins except Visual Composer, clear cache and see if you still get this issue. Also if you have custom modifications to the theme please remove them as I have checked your site and this ad doesn’t come from the theme, it is added by a plugin or added directly in the code.

Thanks!

Hello rcallejonvillalobos,

I have checked your website and your mega menu feature seems to work as expected. http://screencast.com/t/axLsn4UWBVN I suspect it could be a problem that might be caused by the plugins in conflict. Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule our the conflicting plugins.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hello rocket.works,

I have checked your website and the slider seems to work as expected, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/OXePjjjf3i Also, I saw that you have some js.errors in your console and these might be caused by the conflicting plugins. Please try to disable all the active plugins, clear all cache and instal only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the plugins in conflict. If is not what you mean and if your problem reappears, please provide more information about this. Any screenshot would be more useful for a better understanding.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Hi,

I have checked your mobile menu on homepage – http://screencast.com/t/zd9ZacyJJi but did not found any issue but on article page it seems that the menu button link is affected – http://screencast.com/t/72VnzE4Mt I suspect that it comes from a script that you use or it is added by a plugin- http://screencast.com/t/dNrLlglwyQP Please disable all the plugins except Visual Composer, clear all the cache, purge your files and remove any custom modifications that could cause this and see if you still have this issue. I could not found any issue on mobile menu, also you can try to do a clean theme install on a subdomain or local and test it only whit the plugins provided with the theme and without any custom modifications and check it.

Thanks!

Hello rishab55555,

I have checked your website and saw that you have some js.errors in your console. These js.errors might be caused by conflicting plugins. Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, clear all cache and instal only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and check if your problem reappear. Please notice that we have tested plugins list -> http://screencast.com/t/QCOZkA4e3D. Hi

I’ve checked your site and the social icons are displayed fine: http://screencast.com/t/c6qams0jB also the pagination arrows: http://screencast.com/t/T0wh9AM3
If this is not what you mean or you still have this issue please provide more details about it so I can inspect it closer. Meanwhile make sure that you empty all caches including browser cache memory then test again.

Thanks!

Hi

1. Please provie your site url so I can inspect this closer. Meanwhile try to deactivate all plugins except visual composer, clear all caches and also make sure that you’re not using any tools which minify the js as this may create issues.
2. The theme does not have any options to embed a radio player and to achieve that most likely you will need a plugin. Unfortunately I can’t make any recommendation as we didn’t tested any plugin with a similar functionality and I can’t say how they will work with our theme. I found here some information which may help: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/9-best-audio-player-plugins-for-wordpress/
3. I am not sure what you mean so please provide more details about this.

Thanks!

Hi

I’ve checked your site and seams that the css is missing. This could be caused by a plugin which conflict with the theme so you can try to deactivate all plugin except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge the cdn files if you’re using and test again.
If the problem persist try to update the theme at the current version available on themeforest following the steps indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/

Thanks!

Hello JBH,

1) Good to update to latest version but also remember to update the included plugins too! Please update your theme to the latest version using this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Also, update your plugins: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/. Remove the current version and install the new version which comes with the theme. Clear all cache and try it again and see how it works and check if the error reappears.

2)This kind of problem might be caused by the conflicting plugins. Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer and instal only the plugins that come bundled with our theme. Also, if you use CDN files, please purge them and disable this option and check it again and see how it works.

3)If you want to exclude ‘no comments’, it is necessary to use a bit of CSS to hide it. Please try the code below and add it in Theme panel->Custom CSS area.

.td-comments-title-wrap {
display:none;
}

Hope that helps and let us know how it goes!

If you need more assistance in this regard, please provide your website URL and provide more details about your desired changes.

Thank you for the message!

Hello Catalin

Thanks for your response.
I tried to deactivate all the plugins and activate the recommended them 1 by 1.

When they were all off i emptied the cache and took a look at the website. Unfortunately still no “featured images”.

Any suggestions?

Also the backend has become really slow now.

Best Regards Asger

Although I have installed and configured the WP Super Cache plug-in, I don’t seem to have benefited from the leverage browser caching feature on PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix inquiries/tests, and I keep getting low marks. I’d be glad if you help me with solving this problem.

I can give you the WP admin username and password if you need.

Please try to disable all the active plugins, clear all cache and instal only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the plugins in conflict. Also, if you are using a CDN files, please purge them and disable and try again and see how it works. If your problem is still there after these changes, please let us know.

Hello Terrence,

Please make sure that this strange behaviour for this feature does not come from conflicting plugins because I have tested this on my side and everything seems to work perfectly. Please check your list of the plugins used by you and check what plugin cause this issue. Please try to disable all the active plugins, clear all cache and instal only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicts between plugins and our theme. Try to see without plugins if your problem reappears and then try to instal one by one and see wich is the problematic plugin because this kind of issue does not come from our default theme, sorry!
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Hello

I have passed PageSpeed Insight and I have two main problems to solve.

The first one is that I have to remove Javascript which is blocking the display and CSS content from upper half page. The other one is that I must reduce server time.

I have already compressed to gzip and solve the problem of specifying brower cache editing .htacess file. I have noticed that score has raised to 64 and 84, on mobile and desktop respectively, but this score is not enough good. I would like to know how I could solve this problem

On the other hand, I would like to know how I could minify Javascript, HTML, and CSS and if you would recommend to me. I have seen on test that there are some theme files which are involved.

Thanks

Hi,

Please disable all your plugins except Visual Composer, clear cache and check if you still have this issue so you will make sure that this issue is not caused by a plugin.
Also please provide your site url so we can inspect this and more details about it. Do you have this issue only with featured image on post page? Please check the post style that you use and make sure it is not post style 5, in this case the image is not displayed on post page. And also you can check Theme Panel > Post Settings and make sure that the featured image is enabled on posts – http://screencast.com/t/RlwVioBKXGb
Let us know how it goes!

Thanks!
