Long story short. Something must have been corrupted in a Newspaper theme file. Hosting helped, had to do a theme restore, then a full site restore.

Hoping to be at the last mile of the fix… I cannot edit ANY templates. Gives me an error. Which I am hoping is related to another issue. It tells me I need to update from 12.6.9 –> 12.73. I click to update, take me to a screen that says everything is up to date. Which it isn’t, because it still says Im on 12.6.9.

TLDR. Restored, assume I was on 12.7.3 Now stuck on 12.6.9. And wont let me edit templates, Im assuming because it partially thinks Im on 12.7.3/12.6.9? Child theme too FYI. Screenshots included.

Hello after updating toNewspaper to 12.7.3 my whole Template including header background image and logo an all settings where crasht. My Site came up with a complete new lauyout and I did not find my old settings in my Theme Panel.
Is it the intention that only cloud templates are available? I actually use a child theme to prevent this, but it probably has something to do with the Tagdiv Composer settings.In any case, my homepage became just a news list without all the layouts and texts selected in the TAGDiv Composer and using tagdiv Standard Pack

I am using the Newspaper theme (latest version) on my WordPress site, and am experiencing critical issues with missing frontend JavaScript files and related mobile performance problems.

Description of the Problem:

On my live site, the following critical theme JS files are returning 404 errors:

/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/js/tagdiv_theme.min.js

/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/js/tdb-site.js

This results in:

Broken frontend features (menus, blocks, theme interactivity).

Console errors such as “wp is not defined” and failures for any code dependent on the wp JS object.

Failed scripts when trying to use or customize TagDiv Composer, blocks, or advanced layouts.

File/Folder Structure Verified:

My Newspaper theme is installed at: /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/

The only theme folders present are: css, images, includes, translation, woocommerce (see attached screenshot).

No top-level /js/ directory is present in the parent Newspaper theme folder.

I checked within /includes/, where there’s a separate js folder, but it contains only backend/admin scripts, not the required frontend ones.

I have unzipped the original theme package from your download. There is still no /js/ directory at the theme root with the two required JS files.

Steps Taken:

Searched and extracted all folders in the downloaded Newspaper theme package, but could not find tagdiv_theme.min.js or tdb-site.js anywhere.

Cleared all WordPress, server, and browser caches, rechecked file system and browser console—issue persists.

Verified the problem recurs with a freshly installed, untouched Newspaper theme (not a child theme or plugin conflict).

Impact:

Site is not functioning properly for end users due to missing JavaScript.

Mobile Lighthouse audits show increased load times (LCP 5.6s+), slow visual completion, and warnings about render-blocking JS/CSS, many of which are worsened by missing or broken theme scripts.

Fundamental site features and performance are degraded on mobile and desktop.

Expected Resolution:

Please provide the correct /js/ directory and the latest versions of:

tagdiv_theme.min.js

tdb-site.js
so I can properly restore these to /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/js/.

If the theme package download I received is incomplete or missing files, please advise and provide a new download link or updated theme zip.

Advise if there may be a packaging, deployment, or installation issue on your end that affects the inclusion of essential JS files.

Optional/Additionally:

Please share a recommended method to ensure all critical JS assets are retained through future theme updates and can be verified after installation.

Any additional suggestions for resolving mobile loading/Lighthouse issues when all scripts are present and loading correctly.

I purchased the News12Paper theme via themforest. I’m unable to instal the Child theme. Please provide me with the direct link to download the child theme as the one in the package isnt working.

Also, I’m unable to to style the Buiness pro demo I’m using to set up our website. Turns out that the theme core plugin is missing. Kindly help as I have spent the last 48 hour trying to figure it out.

We’ve noticed a recent change in how excerpts are displayed on post cards in our Newspaper theme. Previously, the subtitle field would appear under the post title (used as the excerpt text). However, now every excerpt seems to be auto-generated from the post content instead.

This is causing an issue for us because our posts follow a strict structure and all begin with the same intro text, so the auto-generated excerpts are repetitive and not useful.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Cleared all caches (site and browser)

Checked the Theme Panel for any related settings

Verified that the subtitle is saving correctly (it is)

Confirmed that the excerpt field is empty (we don’t have it enabled for our custom post types)

Switched to the parent theme (instead of the child theme) to test — same behavior

Disabled all non-theme-related plugins to rule out conflicts

Could you please confirm if this is now the expected/default behavior, or if something may have changed in a recent update?
If it’s not intended, could you point me to how we can restore the previous behavior where the subtitle was used as the excerpt text on post cards?

​The theme is stripping out paragraph breaks (the <p> HTML tag) from the post excerpts, causing the text to be displayed as one single, dense block. This happens regardless of whether the excerpt is:
​Automatically Generated from the post content.
​Manually Entered in the “Excerpt” meta box.
​What I Have Tried (and failed with):
​Custom Excerpt: Writing manual excerpts with HTML tags (e.g., <p>Text</p>). The tags are still removed.
​Advanced Excerpt Plugin: I installed and configured the Advanced Excerpt plugin, ensuring the option to allow HTML tags was active. The theme seems to override the plugin’s functionality, and the paragraph breaks are still removed.
​My Question:
​Is there a specific setting within the Theme Panel, a tagDiv Composer Block setting, or a PHP filter that I can use in a Child Theme’s functions.php file to specifically allow the <p> tag (paragraph breaks) in the post excerpts displayed in your post listing blocks (like Flex Blocks)?

I’m using the Newspaper theme (version 12.7.1) on my website oblo.it, and I’ve run a W3C HTML validation check that shows multiple errors related to <style> tags being placed inside <div> elements.

Error details:

Error message: “Element style not allowed as child of element div in this context”
Occurrences: 60+ times throughout the page
Validation tool: https://validator.w3.org/

These errors appear to be generated by the tagDiv Composer page builder when creating inline styles for blocks and elements.

My question:

Is there an updated version of the theme or a patch available that addresses these W3C validation errors?
Are you planning to fix this in a future release?
Is there a recommended workaround that maintains full theme functionality?

I understand these errors don’t affect the site’s functionality, but I’d like to improve the technical score and W3C compliance if possible.

I am using the Newsmag 5 theme. In the Theme Panel → Post Settings, I have enabled the option “Show Modified Date”, which currently displays only the modified date on single posts.

However, I would like to display the Last Updated information with both date and time, in this format:
Last Updated: September 30, 2025, 06:23 IST

Could you please confirm:

Is there any built-in option to also include the time alongside the modified date?

If not, can you provide the recommended code snippet (and the correct template file where it should be added, e.g., post-meta.php) to achieve this in an update-safe way (preferably using a child theme)?

This would really help me ensure my readers see both the date and exact time when posts are last updated.

I am using the Newspaper theme and noticed that the featured image of each post is displayed as a background-image inside a <div> with the class tdb-featured-image-bg, instead of being rendered as an tag.

This approach makes it impossible to use the alt attribute, which is essential for:

– SEO, since Google does not properly index images used as backgrounds;

– Accessibility, as screen readers cannot interpret the image.

I would like to confirm with you:

1) Is this behavior the default of the theme, or is there any setting to display the featured image as an tag with the alt attribute?

2) If there is no setting, what would be the recommended way to implement this without losing compatibility in future updates (for example, using a child theme)?
