i second this, although everything has been disabled that is not “newspaper 8” related, tagdiv composer shows loading circle and then results in a white page. Switched back to 8.0, renabled all plugins, 8.0 works like a charm.

Notice that our builder is at the beginning and also, it is in a continuous development. You will not found all the elements which Visual Composer has. From now on, this plugin will be improved with some features which have to be exclusively for this builder.

As you probably know, our page builder is much restrictive (regarding on layouts) than Visual Composer because in that way we can easily handle the performances which can be achieved with our product. If your entire theme has been created exclusively with Visual Composer and if your elements used on your website does not exist in TD Composer you should use VC.

Please update the theme to the latest theme version via FTP way and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core files and check the results. Should work as expected. Most likely, you have removed the Visual cOmposer and when you re-install it again, you have installed the 5.2 version of it which was not tested with the theme and that’s why you have had this error. Now, the theme is fully compatible with this version and that’s why you should update it. Clear all the caches and check the results.

But i used in all posts, if disable Visual Composer my posts is desformat, and i will write again.
I am experiencing a painful situation in developing a site with Newspaper eand I am very concerned about my other 4 site already using your theme.
This site is on schedule for going online when I will be back from holiday and now, after updating, I am not sure what to do with TD VC.
I mean I know that I can’t use it, because the structure I have already created was developed and chosen with the client is not replicable with TD VC as in many part I used 4 colums on one row. I mean it seems insane to me.
But most important i have nearly 30-35 static pages already built: do I have to recreate them all?
And this is just part of the problems: since I updated I can no longer use Text Block with Title in row as it produce a page error.
Also being forced to use front end editor doesn’t allow me to use powerful normal VC integration like Calendarizeit or Eventon. Not mentioning that back-end editor is pure gold in some situations.
I (and plenty of other collegues) need to know for real what you are planning to do.
Can I continue to use normal JS VC?
Will TD VC replace JS VC?
Or fully compatibility will always be guaranteed?
I am really worried as I am leaving for holiday (now forced to take my pc with me) and it was all perfectcly working since updates.
Newspaper was really a state of the art theme (it still is, actually) for simplicity, clear customizations and reliability: please, don’t mess it up!

If you use Visual composer then deactivate the tagDiv composer and everything should work properly.
But please note that in future theme updates we will add more elements and options only for the tagDiv composer. That is why it is recommended to use the new front-end editor for your pages.

You could ask your hosting provider to make them for you if needed, they might have a recommended method in this matter.

after updating Newspaper to V 8.1. for some minutes we have problems with some/different pages e.g. http://cadzand-online.de/natur- see or http://cadzand-online.de/veranstaltungen. The plugin shows WP Bakery Visual Composer Version 4.12.1 – tagdiv Composer is deactivated – also I deactivated the “”all-in-one-calendar” and “MapPress Easy Google Maps”- they seemed to origin a problem – but this was not helpful-…

That is an unusual issue you are having. The mobile theme has nothing to do with the tagDiv composer. The composer is not required in order for the mobile theme to work properly. Something else is likely to cause this problem. At the moment this is how the website looks on mobile

This is not caused by the theme, only plugins, custom code inserted in the theme panel or added to the theme files could cause results like this. Or a child theme with modifications that you might be using.
That’s why the first suggestion is to deactivate all other non-theme plugins, to possibly spot the one that is causing this.

Hi, I accidently unistalled visual composer and when I reinstalled it, all the tagdiv elements are missing. The website still works, but when I go to edit the homepage, before I saw bg slider box etc which I could edit. Now I just see code.

Newspaper was an incredible clean tool to create gorgeous and flawless site and I suggested it to clients and collegues.
I have at least 35 static pages build with old and original VC only on this site and in your idea I should remake it?
Worse, if I activate the TD Visual Composer I experience a lot of visualization problems on my pages (image block, title block and code errors).
Even worse, you cannot use all the plugin that interact with normal VC.
At least We should have the possibility to continue to use old VC with normal compatibility.
In your opinion, what I should tell to my clients?
And what should I do now that I’m leaving for holiday and I have planned the site launch at my return?

Each of the Big grids and blocks that are used to build pages, can be customized how you want. You can control the articles that are displayed in these elements individually.

We have a lot of sites with different VC layouts.
Visual Composer had 11 options (+ individual layout) and we used some of them.
TD-Composer has only 4 options (1/1 | 2/3 + 1/3 | 1/3 + 2/3 | 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3).
The bad thing is, if you update to the new version and watch the duplicated site with the new TD Composer, you will lose the content outside the 4 standard layouts without any warnings, because you can’t access them.
It would be nice to see more layout options in the new TD-composer or we can’t update to the new version. If we don’t get the same layout options as in VC composer, we have to redesign/relaunch our complete website and this would be very terrible.
Furthermore we miss the backend editing with composer (personal opinion).

I cannot say for sure if that will be available in the tagDiv composer. We will add more elements and options for this editor, but I couldn’t say if this will be one of them.
Maybe if the request becomes more popular it could be considered as a possible implementation.

When we were using the version with visual composer, we could add an image with “single image”, choose 3d shadow and that image was displayed responsively inside a column with no problem. Now with the new editor, if you do the same, image is displayed bigger than it should like 120% zoomed (image size:cover or full height or Auto). Box style:3d shadow with previus selections works fine. Now If you change image size to Contain, image is displayed corrent but box style is broken.

Also, the third important rule is to do not edit a page which was created with Visual Composer with TD Composer.
Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to do this, sorry!
You should try finding such a plugin which has this functionality and check how it will work with it.

It is not supposed to look like that. There is something wrong with the container, or other elements of the page. Please check if you have any custom code added to the theme files, or child theme active. Deactivate all plugins except Visual composer and other plugins included with the theme, and clear the cache. Then the problem should be fixed.
Most likely this is caused by a plugin, this way you can see if that is the case.

Newspaper 4 and visual composer 5 are 2 things that should not be in the same sentence. Newspaper 4 was launched 3 years ago and has since then been updated to newspaper 8. The code has been changed so much since then that the theme is basicaly a totally different one. Please update your theme to the latest version (8.1) by simply deleting your old theme and installing the new one as a totally different theme. There will be a few compatibility issues but you will have to re-create a few styles and elements in order to get the theme to work properly. You simply skipped way too many updates to have a flawless transition between versions. Sorry.
There are many error reports because people simply do not use the theme as intended withe the recommended plugins and the intended way of using visual composer.
If used properly and the way it;s meant to be used, the theme provides absolutely 0 errors when updating. We test our products very carefully before each release.
As for VC, you should not have purchased it as it is already provided free of charge in the theme package.

You should simply make a theme update, clear all the caches and check the results. The problem was caused by the Visual Composer which was not be updated and that’s why you have brought that error with the theme. Now, it was solved in the latest theme version because the Visual Composer has been updated to 5.2 version of it.

First please deactivate all plugins except the ones provided with the theme, an clear any caching installed. If you are using a child theme, switch to the main theme. Check any custom code you might have entered in the theme panel, or added to the theme files.
Then check the homepage and see if it displays properly. Try editing the homepage with the tagDiv composer and check if everything works properly.
You could try and deactivate the tagDiv composer as well, and delete it. Then upload it again and check the results.
The surest way to update the theme is by FTP, as a last resort you could reinstall the theme. Maybe something went wrong during the update process
