Hi,
Please make sure that you also use the latest theme version then deactivate all plugins leaving just the Visual Composer plugins active then empty cache and also purge files if you use any CDN host services then check again.
Also make sure that you test this without any js/css/hmtl minification options, disable those option then empty cache/purge files and try again.
I have also checked this using the latest theme version (4.6.1) and found no issue so it should work in your case also.

Hi, I’ve just installed Newsmag and I’m trying to get my page all setup. I’m having an issue setting up the homepage/static page on my site. The width of the boxed area of the page is not adjusting so that I can show the Big Grid with the big picture and the smaller pictures to the right. The smaller pictures are wrapping below it. I adopted the “Page builder + latest articles + pagination” template for my homepage design. and inserted the widgets in Visual Composer.

Can you tell me how to increase the boxed width of the entire page? I have seen others using Newspaper and Newsmag that have a larger boxed size and the Big Grid works fine. I have not found the answer in the documentation or a cursory search of the forum.

Hi, find one problem. For example, when i create new page and write simple text, then -> sidebar is showing, but if i write text + add contact form 7 (use visual composer) to page layout, then sidebar is not showing and my text + contact form showing on 100% wide site content
Just to clarify… I also tried deleting the original js-composer folder via FTP and installing new, as per the instructions in the sticky post. I am STILL getting the “failed: directory already exists” error

Something is wrong with the new version of the Visual Composer plugin. My site runs normally on 35-40 mb ram. With the new version it was 135-150 mb. I have uploaded the plugin version from Newsmag 1.4. Now I have again 35-40 mb memory and the site is fast again (with Newsmag 1.5)…
I am confused. I am trying to install the plugin for the first time. I see it in the required plugin section in APPEARANCE/INSTALL PLUGINS – however when I try to install, I get an error saying the target directory already exists. I cannot delete the plugin and reinstall from here. I cannot activate or install from here.
I then tried to upload as the instructions direct in the forum suggest. I get the same message: target directory already exists. It thinks it is there, but it won’t let me install.
If I go to the theme plugin section, the plugin does not appear in either installed or activated. How do I install or update?

Please test this without any plugins active and leave just Visual Composer plugin active and also empty cache then check again. Use the latest theme update(1.5) and the plugins that come with theme files.

I’m not sure what you mean, but if you want to create custom blocks(other that the theme has), you’ll need custom work for this which we cannot offer at this time as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support. You can always get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.

Since those are really must mods to the visual composer modules, you could certainly do those yourself, also. 🙂
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it’s not a matter of file size, but a matter of server resource usage. An minimal load of 3% jumps to 90% with this new version.
As for returning to previous version of Visual Composer, I can only download latest Newsmag from Themeforest and included Visual Composer package. Is there a resource for downloading older versions?
I believe a better course of action for you would be checking the CPU usage of Visual Composer and warning the developers. Perhaps your test load is too low, because when 500 to 1000 concurrent online users visit your homepage, it’s load on server becomes too big. We are using your theme on our site which recieves millions of pageviews per month, not a small personal blog.
I can’t warn developers because I have no license, as I’m using the bundled version that comes with the theme. I’m aware that this is not a directly Newsmag or tagdiv caused problem but you are responsible for your choice of bundled software and it’s nearly an integral part of creating a nice homepage for your theme. Since you have a deal of distributing it with your theme to increase user experience, it should be your duty to keep it positive.

You would access that option by editing the page where those sub-headings appear. The screen shot I showed you is of the page builder (Visual Composer). If you had a developer build the site for you, I’d say he/she isn’t finished until that’s edited, but also that whoever setup your home page knows how to edit these block titles.
I have installed Newsmag and enjoy working with it. Just one problem. When I change the Fonts for Pages it only works if I don´t use Visual Composer. If i use it the Fonts reamin as default.

Tried that- disabled all plugins, then reactivated Visual Composer but yet the issue remains. Issue is with both a full 3 column slider as well as a 2 column slider.

Please make sure that you use the latest Social Counter version(2.9). If not, you can install it from the /plugins folder that was provided together with the theme files.

If this is not the case disable all plugins, enable only the Visual Composer plugin and check if the issue is still there.

After the latest update to visual composer our server CPU usage skyrocketed so we had to disable it. Have you tested it’s resource usage before including it in the latest package? We can’t use it in its current load. We are on dedicated hosting with very little usual load and tested it in different hours -loads of the day. Even the service provider sent us a mail regarding system resource usage of the bundled plugin. We had no such problem before the Theme update to 1.5 and bundled Visual Composer plugin.
