ok, after setting up a demo site and comparing them, I figured out that the problem is the child theme.

I configured the child theme as proposed in http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes. This page explicitly says: “@import should not be used to import the parent stylesheet into the child theme.” simply because it’s bad for performance.

However, you propose in https://forum.tagdiv.com/child-theme-documentation/ to use import – and actually that’s the only way how it seems to work.

Is there any way to create a child theme but avoid @import in the child css?

your CSS indeed fixes the problem with overlapping logo and ad – thanks! In my opinion I think that the theme (i.e. Newspaper) should already include this…

What’s not fixed is the misaligment of the menu. This is how it looks on your demo page (http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/) in tablet mode:

Compare this to our installation where the menu icon and line underneath starts more to the left.

The settings are included/generated by Newspaper.

So, I guess there is an error there?

Doesn’t work on the demo, nor my site. Disabled all my chrome plugins/cleared cache from beginning of time and purged cache with cloudflare.

Both the sites mentioned above – same issue.

Hm. Maybe in Chrome run one of the tools to find the external elements being loaded.

Or perhaps run a test of the order things are being loaded in browser.

You are right, I can’t see icons on the demo http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/. However, I CAN see other sites using icon fonts via same browser (Chrome) with setup and plugins unchanged, for example:

Of course, I CAN see icons on themeforest.net.
Might be something wrong at my side, but what it is? I even disabled all extensions, emptied cache, in Chrome, just the same.

Note – if you really want to “debug” this you would need to

1) specify which OS version you’re using on your computer, the browser version, what anti-virus or anti-malware you’re using (both Avast and Symantec have wonky issues from time to time) – try turning them off to see if that causes the issue. Don’t use “branded” versions of web browser provided by an ISP like TimeWarner, etc. Use the un-branded versions of web browser.

Turn off ANY “ad blocking” software.

2) be sure to run a full anti-virus scan, clear temp files from your Windows system if running Windows, fully clear the cache in your web browser(s).

Check the theme forest demo of the theme, check the thread where somebody is again suggesting “post your sites here” to see different sites, and see if icons appear or not.

If several people post their setups here, one might be able to determine the commonality of the culprit as to why “a few” people are having this issue while the majority do not. I don’t think anybody would be buying these themes if all the icons were broken in the demo, for example.

That’s about all I can think of at this point.

Welll … Dunno what to tell you. Maybe its outside usa? All my staff across usa with different isps can see icons from the site on our server in texas. So you are saying you cant see icons on the theme forest demo either. Wow. If they wotk on 10 devices i own on mac, windows and ios and work for all my staff not worried sbout it.

Maybe you are running something that is blocking the font on your computers.

Or… It could be some other issue nobody has seen before.

They work fine in IE11 and Chrome on my Win7/64 machine/desktop; iPad Air in Safari and Chrome; no AdBlocker software when visiting the site. They work fine on my website and the demo site…. so….. perhaps you folks need to seriously clear your cache? Dunno. I hate those funky gremlins. If I can see them on his site it’s not a CORS issue as they would not work for anybody at all. Since they work for “many but not some” this implies some site specific issue -or- a browser specific issue.

Now in the http://www.iserres.gr, i make the same changes (insert same greek .po and .mo files) and insert at the wp-config.php the code “define (‘WPLANG’, ‘el_GR’) but the characters still to be english. Also i try to copy all the files from atantou/…./plugins/weather-widjet and install it to iserres/…./plugins/weather-widget but nothing changed. Do you have any idea why this happened??
