Hi,

The tagDiv composer and social counter plugin should be updated automatically when the theme is updated, this works for most users. Sometimes this fails it seems, we will gradually try to further improve this process. In case it fails, the plugins will be deactivated and you will have to update them manually, the rest of the theme plugins will also have to be updated manually.

@julingn
That is unusual, so by deactivating the contact form 7 plugin or GDPR compliance plugin the issue is solved. The theme is compatible with both so there would be no conflict. We could take a look, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin access, FTP and cPanel if possible. Include a link to this topic in the email. Be sure to use the latest version of theme, theme plugins and WordPress.

Thanks

Hello,

Please first make sure you meet the requirements for newspaper: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Alternatively you can try to install via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Thank you!

Hi,

You can use the other, more reliable theme update methods
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
We and most users recommend the FTP method as the first choice in the matter. The automatic update may fail sometimes.

Hi,

You could first check the theme system requirements panel
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
In some cases insufficient WP-memory caused 500 errors, increasing it solved the problem. Also check if the required PHP extensions are enabled, especially mbstring. Let us know. Once you make changes if required, attempt to update again, by FTP
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The composer and social counter should update automatically, if this does not happen for you, update them manually.
If you use a child theme, try to temporarily switch to the main theme and then update. Let us know what you find.

Thanks

Hi,

I know you answered a lot of questions about this topic already. I went through the past issues and tried to fix it.
After that, my current system status looks green overall (memory Limit is 96MB, gd, mbstring, sushosin, max input vars, max executin time). PHP Verion is 5.6.36, Theme Version is 8.7.5
I also some suggested code into the htaccess, like

<IfModule mod_substitute.c>
SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
</IfModule>

ANYWAY: After activating TD Composer Plugin my backend is not reachable anymore. I need to remove the plugin via FTP to get into the WP Backend again. Any clue what I might have missed?

thanks in advance,
Norman

Hello mecanicaonline,

I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using an older theme version. Please try to update it via FTP way to the latest version of it, clear all the caches and check the results. Remove all of the untested plugins and check the results.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks.

Hello,

Please try to install the plugin via FTP or SFTP
You can find the plugin under the main theme package you download from envato.

Thank you!

I can confirm that the octal number stating the read/write permissions of the ‘themes’ folder is 755.

I can also confirm that after deleting the theme and re-installing through FTP still creates the fatal error when the theme is activated.

I’m not too sure with the exact version of the both you asked
but i believe the PHP version is 7(probably the most latest one); and Theme Version is the latest .

I installed the theme the usual way of downloading the .zip file from envatomarkets and going to the dashboard, appearance, themes and then add new with the upload. Once activated it automatically goes to the fatal error.

I’m not entirely sure on how to do this step: ‘change read/write permissions to Theme folder to 755’, or upload the theme through the FTP.

PHP Version? – PHP/7.0.30 on Apache
Theme version? – 8.7.5

How you install the theme?
try to delete theme and upload theme again via FTP
or change read/write permissions to Theme folder to 755

Hi,

First you could deactivate all plugins by FTP, if you cannot access the wp-admin
http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/
Then you should be able to access wp-admin. Deactivate and remove both tagDiv composer and social counter, install them from here
https://www.screencast.com/t/pahaoV3WXi

Next check the theme system status panel, and this requirements guide
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Insufficient resources could cause the 500 errors you get when trying to access wp-admin. If needed ask your hosting provider to increase the values of the parameters, especially the wp-memory. Let us know the results.

Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest that you disable all plugins by FTP
http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/
Then try to login again if possible, clear the browser cache or try with a different cache as well.
If there is still a problem reinstall the theme by FTP, then check again

Hi,

There are detailed theme install guides you can follow
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
The FTP method is the most recommended because it is then most reliable in installing or for theme updates.

These are the theme requirements for the server and WordPress
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
These parameters can affect the theme installation and also how the theme works. You could contact your hosting and ask them to increase the, if necessary.

Thanks

Hello Guys,
I installed the Newspaper Theme via FTP, because my upload limit is limited to 8mb. If I activate it now comes a white screen and my page is not working anymore.
can someone help me?

I agree, but I did download Filezila, but it is SO complicated and highly technical, it’s WAY over my head to begin to understand. Is there a more ‘user-friendly’ version of an FTP app out there?

Generally best to update via FTP as you can make backup of site at same time (which you should *always* do prior to any upgrade!!). The Envato plugin sometimes fails to update everything properly, in my own experience. This can cause stuff to break.

Sorry that doesn’t help. But FTP always best way to install stuff with WordPress like theme upgrades, as you need to also update any plugins as well.

Hello ashishkumarsr,

Ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme installed via FTP way and also, the latest version of WordPress. Clear all the caches and check the results. All of these options should be there.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!

Try as many things as you can, temporarily remove all codes, at least we can rule that out. Try to re-install the theme again by FTP, maybe something happened during the update
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

If nothing works, we could also take a look. Send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin access, FTP and cPanel as well if possible. Include a link to this topic in the email. Let us know.

Hello Rohit Sharma,

Please keep in mind that we cannot help you for installing the theme via TeamViewer. Please read more carefully our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ You will succeed that because it is not difficult. Also, if you are not aware to do this yourself, please check here -> https://studio.envato.com/

Thanks.

Hi,

It seems that only the header is displayed, the rest is empty. Please check the theme requirements here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Re-install the latest version of the theme (8.7.5) by FTP, it is the most reliable method
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Update the theme plugins manually if needed, the composer should update automatically but sometimes it fails
https://www.screencast.com/t/N2UOiiKkdBDA
Let us know the results.

Thanks
