Hello,

Well the images are already taking up the full size of the container. The container sizes are as follows:
If you use a sidebar the maximum content width is 696 pixels. So an image will not be able to go further than 696 px.
If you do not use a sidebar, the content are is 1068 px. Your images are exactly 1068 pixels, thus making them the biggest possible size they can be inside the post content. There is no way of making them any bigger.

Thank you!

Hi,

I’m using a default gallery (not TagDiv Slide Gallery) in this post:
http://harodigital.com/noticias/la-cata-mas-multitudinaria/

The issue is that images shown are a cropped version (1068×580) instead of the full size version (or any I want). here you can see settings and how are displayed images:

Newspaper image gallery

How can I set a full size for images?

Thanks

Hi, I’ve faced the problem of to many copies of files on my server, since I’ve switched all possible variants of thumbs, thus the theme made a present of about 15 copies of each file. Know I have a question, how to ‘clean’ the server without damaging the site, would thank for any suggestions.

May be it is possible the make the thumb copies of different sizes only for the featured picture and the rest will be just uploaded as they are?

hey, I read also previous topics here about this problem but they didnt help and i installed new resizing plugins but they didnt help. on the startpage of my website and on other pages i uses boxes, grids, and a lot of thumbnails are in there. They are wayyy too small, looking very blurry on my PC and mobile device. Also the post image in the post (which is also the thumbnail) is looking too blurry. the image in bigger size (in the post), and in smaller size (as thumbnail) look like very bad quality, but i uploaded it in a good pixel size with over 1000px … what can I do? I can’t continue working like that… Please help. greets. (I also tried deactivating small thumb sizes in the theme panel > block settings, but it didnt help. pictures were just missing, and “Regenerate Thumbnails” or other plugins didnt help…

Hi all.

When we upload one image in our wordpress upload we can find the same image but in 16 diferents sizes (that is a lot of space). How can we work with that to have only a few or one?

Thanks

Hello Bogdan. i found the cropping system on /includes/td_config.php but there is no crop setting to crop feature image on style 7. Actually, the feature image on style 7 doesn’t crop, but it changes sizes, depending on screen resolution.

It’s possible to make the theme to appears the image not from the top, but from the center?

Hello again Catalin. “CSS fix” isn’t the proper, because with margin-top function, on responsive sizes, the image doesn’t appear correct (grey empty gap appears, the image doesn’t centralized correct etc)

there is any other option to make the theme to crop the feature image “only center”, or “center to bottom” ?

the slider revolution plugin on politics demo slider, make this proper (crop the feature image on center).

Are the sizes turned on in the modules images section of theme panel?

Hi, thanks for that, did not see it 🙂

We’ve enabled the custom sizes for mobile, however, some ads work correctly:

result:

Other don’t work:

Result:

We’ve basically set all mobile sizes to 320×50, cleared caches, but still no luck. Also tried it on a real phone (not the Chrome simulator) and the same there.

Cheers!

Hello,

Unfortunately the mobile theme is still in version 1 and there are not too many options for customization added to it. Fonts can be changed with css for mobile but image sizes cannot be changed even in the main theme. Image sizes are fixed in our theme and each element has it’s own predefined thumb.

The author will need a bit of a css fix as the css got changed a bit in the new update but the author name was not updated for it. So until the next theme version please use this CSS code in the mobile theme’s custom code box:

.td-post-author-name div { display:inline; }

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you!

Make sure you have the imagesizes” activated on the module pages.
Also, clear cache.
Also, turn off lazy load animations.

OG tags have nothing to do with images appearing in your posts/layouts.

a) try disabling lazy load image effects
b) be sure to ‘regenerate’ thumbs for your layout (make backups first!)
c) be sure to check the settings in theme panel to actually ‘enable’ the image sizes for modules/blocks you intend to use
d) be sure to clear all caching in site if used and in web browser
e) make sure you actually have ‘featured’ images assigned to each post
f) make sure you have ‘use featured image’ enabled in the post settings

Hello,

Do I answer you:
1. I tried to disable plugins and nothing.
2. I have no custom code on the logo.
3. The images’m trying directly without going through WordPress.
4. Do not use Photon or cdn.

Can you please try to see the web from your phone? The size of the logo is exaggerated. The size are 272 and 544, I do not use the mobile sizes.
Look: androidspain.es

Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, that is why I positioned it centered as there is no simple way of having it stay besides the image on smartlists. Aligning it center is a workaround in order to have it display the same way on all images as the center is still the center on all image sizes :).
The caption was not meant to be shown on smartlists that way as this is a custom implementation you have going on. The standard theme caption displayed under the images, not over them. I have looked into this the previous time we tackled this task but I could not find a viable solution for it, but unfortunately time does not allow us to investigate these things in depth. Sorry.

Hello endel19,

Sorry for my misunderstanding! So, if your images are on center alignment you will have to use a bit of CSS code to adjust them to right sizes. Place the code below in Custom CSS area, like this ->

.td-post-content .aligncenter, .wpb_text_column .aligncenter, .td_block_text_with_title .aligncenter, .woocommerce #tab-description .aligncenter, .mce-content-body .aligncenter{
margin: 0 0px;
width:100%!important;
}

Here you should see the result -> before using the code -> http://screencast.com/t/Oci6V2orArz and after using the code -> http://screencast.com/t/CL552x2uAlit

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,

I’m not sure I follow. Your image sizes in your block 4 is the same as on our demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-4/ It is not smaller.
If you want it to be smaller then you need to alter the theme code for that. you can use the theme api system like so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbupdate/

Thanks

Вот здесь почитайте: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/

Aspect Ratio

There’s no ideal image size for cropping, a part of the image will be lost due to aspect ratio differences. On the Newspaper theme some modules have a 16:9 aspect ratio, while others have one closer to 4:3.

Example 1: if you upload an image that has an aspect ratio close to 4:3 the cropping function will cut the bottom on thumbs which have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Example 2: if you upload a 16:9 image the function will cut a portion from the sides for the thumbs that have an a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Depending on the module used, the best solution is to experiment with different sizes and see which one offers the best results.

Hi

To achieve that you will also need some custom modules, there you have to call the images, and new thumb sizes. The new thumbs can be defined in td_config.php: https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbadd/ Also you can’t use the new block in td-container which have a fixed width. You can add a new container above td-container, make it full width and use do_shortcode() to echo out the new block: http://screencast.com/t/NcwL9mrQJv1

Thanks!

When I look at the images used in the blocks, they are full size. So for example, the full size image is 500×500.

On the homepage and sidebars, images are used in a block that should serve much smaller images. But when I right click on the image URL, it is being served as the full sized image /uploads/image01.jpg and not /image01-300-300.jpg (Just making up size numbers). So according to Google Page Speed, I need to resize my images.

I never touched the thumbnail settings from the default (as far as I can remember). Some of the images are from pre-Newspaper theme and some have been uploaded since switching. Do I need to regenerate all thumbnails?

That will take about a day or more of time so before I do it, I’d like a concrete answer. Thanks.

Hello VittorioC93,

As for the image sizes, there is no ideal image size I can recommend. You will have to assess the containers and thumbs you plan on using on your site and the post templates as well. If you use post templates that use the full-size images like http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/td-post-2015-awards-all-of-the-best-and-worst-moments-from-the-show/ then a full-width image is required. If not, you need to inspect every element, in particular on the homepage. If you use big grids, your images must be at least the size of the big grid container. Otherwise, they will not fit inside and not display correctly. Here is a list of all thumbs used in our theme:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/ also -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi

Theme’s layout relay on a fixed width by 1068px and there are no options to change this value. Also all theme’s blocks and modules have fixed sizes for featured image. The slide uses different thumbs depending by layout used for it bu non of theme are squares. The size of any element can be changed only adjusting theme’s code.
When Revolution Slider is installed in Visual Composer will be available those blocks: http://screencast.com/t/cxTtWSrga7O

Basically first three requests involve custom work in order to achieve the desired result and unfortunately we can’t offer such services at the moment. If you really need this and you’re not aware of the steps that must be taken in this regard my advice is to look for someone who can help you with implementation or hire a developer to do it for you.

Hello Jad,

Please notice that you will have to edit the function will get the srcset and sizes, look like in this image here -> http://screencast.com/t/bFjXL8tTuw (you will have to add the line code that appears in blue box in my screenshot) and then, the function will return nothing and the browser will use the link from src source. Otherwise, if you want to keep the scrset and sizes, you will have to use the search and replace method for all variables which contain the URL’s -> http://screencast.com/t/0ntcqi51xlc You will have to replace that link -> http://localhost:8888/MR/ with http://www.melarumors.com/ and then you have to find a PHP function which does this task, for example here -> http://www.w3schools.com/php/showphp.asp?filename=demo_func_string_str_replace.
Please notice that is not a simple task and if you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom services at the moment, sorry!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your understanding!

So, the plugin you’re using also adds a featured image to your media library, and shows on the post page as a “featured image” ?

If there is no local “featured image” for the post, then no thumbnail for blocks/modules can be created by WP.

Auto Post Thumbnail Pro (or similar) will take snap of first image in post or download and “create” and assign featured image to that post, which then is in the media library so WP can make thumbs resized for various modules.

Good luck!

(One presumes you have also turned on the module thumbnail “sizes” you want to use from the theme panel.)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to speed up my website as it scores poorly on GTMetrix and the other testing sites. They all recommend I optimize images even after I’ve already done so because the scan tools are finding the image names altered from what I uploaded.

To try and make things faster, I have edited images to the exact sizes I wish them to display. So every image is “full size.” Yet GTMetrix scans show the page loads with image filenames with characters after the “.jpg”. For example, a natively 600px image “/uploads/09/09/image-1.jpg” becomes “/uploads/09/09/image-1.jpg?w=600” once I upload it to the server. The added question mark and characters seems to trigger the “you need to optimize this image” flag on GTMetrix, even though the original file was optimized.

Can anyone recommend how I can stop “?w=600” from automatically getting added to the end of filenames once I upload? Can I have the filename be exactly what I type?

Thanks!
