but if you click on the Home button – taking you to http://www.eastmidlandsbusinesslink.co.uk/mag/news/ – it uses the template News – they do show
adding ‘– Select an ad spot –‘ => ”, has not worked
Have changed Pages> Homepage – Newsmag – Front Page and added the Ad Block a couple of times but not showing

On default template the sidebar will not be added automatically, you will have to add it in the page content using pagebuilder. You will have to split the row and use Widgetised sidebar block – http://screencast.com/t/ppGnRNXH9o1g or add directly Visual Composer elements there – http://screencast.com/t/m4mEG2V9pt
If you use Pagebuilder with title the sidebar will be added automatically – http://screencast.com/t/YcuuaMoVXQ or you can use full width page content(without sidebar) and add it manually like above for default template.

Funnily enough this came up here the other day as well. A plugin to do this kind of thing would be awesome from TagDiv, or a paid add-on option for the themes (hint!). I’d be willing to pay $25 for an “add-on” to the Newsmag theme for this, which is cheapo I know, but if you had a lot of folks buy it, well, it’s worth it. 🙂
Right now, it seems the best way to do this might be:
a) custom post template; edit one of the existing to add some “sponsored post” elements to page; change header link to header-sponsored.php
b) clone header.php and remove the default header ad box elements
c) create custom sidebar which doesn’t have default ad units
d) not sure how to set an expiration date; our local CMS (house built, not WP) has this function, I see couple of plugins for this out there, one which stopped working with latest WP update — but seems like there should be function for this (WP still evolving as proper CMS, which is why my system built in 2005, updated 2007, can do it, and WP still does not by default .. duh). Probably needs a cron job from server.
e) likely need a custom category which can be excluded from things like Google News sitemap, possibly main sitemap, but still feed into RSS streams
f) likely a custom “bug” added to end of the excerpt based on the custom category lookup to identify SPONSORED CONTENT clearly in excerpt
We’re looking to do something like this with possibly a 30,60,90 day expiration window for “sponsored content.”
Feedback from anybody who has actually implemented something like this would be major groovy bitchin’ kewl, as we say here in California 😉

That makes sense. The problem I am having is the header colors. Under “theme colors” I have custom colors set up for pages. The colors work as expected unless I use the “default template” with the page builder. Once I use the page builder the header colors all go black instead of the custom colors i set up.

Firstly my ads dont show on the top half of the home page but do in the widget at the bottom
Secondly my current site has ads for fashion in fashion section – for sport in sport section etc etc
each section has its own Category Template and category has its own Post Template – so the ad code is distributed on them
How do i do the same thing with this
UPDATE: I found a workaround to this issue. Although it doesn’t change the original problem, I did figure out how to NOT disable the sidebar on pages with Visual Composer content.

Basically you add a line to the page.php file that tells the theme not to disable the sidebar on the default template, then you add the custom sidebar to the location specified on the page.
I’d still like to know what’s going on though, if you have an answer as to why my site isn’t saving sidebars.
I’ve experienced a problem in the past day. On certian pages, the template Pagebuilder + Page Title won’t save. It allows me to select the option, when I hit Update it reverts back to “Default”.
I’ve tried re-installing the theme twice, restoring it from a backup where this option worked. Not sure what to do at this point. I saw a post somewhere saying that I can go into the SQL and change the post settings for the page manually. I did that, it did nothing.
Any suggestions?
Hi, I have both Newspaper and Newsmag on different sites, very nice themes.
Is there any way to easily use one of the post templates (for example loop-single-x) for the page template as well? My only big complaint about these themes is how few options there are for page customizations. Thanks!
hi want to create a block that has one big block and two blocks net to it the 2 blocks is on top of each other, the bottom of the 2 blocks is going to show the weather.
is there away to do this with setting up a block or a grid. i want this to only show on the hame page. If i have to custom code this in with template php do i go in to.

I’ve answered my own question after double checking my settings. For those that dont know you can enable/disable comments on pages from the template settings.
ThemePanel -> Post Settings -> DISABLE COMMENTS ON PAGES
Also note that you must have comments enabled on your pages. You’ll see this under the “Discussion” in page edit mode. If you dont see it then select “screen options” from the top and add it.

Well, it’s a complex theme with modules, images, inserts, etc., designed for a “grid” — you cannot simply change one area of grid without also changing everything else. In theory you could change the template to more “columns” of the grid for post area, but then you’d run into issues with some items using sidebar unless you planned that carefully and/or changed all the modules you want to use in sidebar; image would not “fill the space” nor would things at bottom of page like comments or related posts, etc.
If you are familiar with Bootstrap, Foundation, 960, or other grid systems, they all work in this way. If you want to make 7/10 into 8/10 then right side becomes more narrow, and some elements designed to fit 7/10 won’t fit in 8/10 and might even break it due to offsets, padding, etc. Look at the CSS to see how it works. If none of that makes sense then you would likely not be able to tackle this yourself.
You can use the “full width” post layout and customize that.
You can also look at the TagDiv “Newspaper 6” theme which has many of the same features as Newsmag, but WIDER layout for the post area.
Follow the docs (link right side of page to “documentation”) on how to “upgrade” from v4 to v6 — it’s not an update, it’s an all-new theme. So, you’ll have to do the conversion script once upgraded, and you’ll have to redo some stuff since a number of things changed … no need to make child theme unless you plan to hack the templates; and even then easier to hack the main theme files anyway.
You will need to refresh your sidebar widgets — this is issue with WP when upgrading themes/changing themes. You may need to change some home page things as some modules changed.

I am messing around with the custom page builder now and noticed that I can’t exclude posts from blocks that have a certain tag. I am curious if there is a way to remove all “Expired” tagged posts from homepage custom page builder blocks.
Would I have to edit each block template or is there some sort of loop before the template?
