I recently updated the theme and enabled the AMP plugin. Yesterday, I got this message on Google Console: “Google systems have detected that some of your AMP pages do not meet our guidelines; therefore these pages are not eligible for AMP-related features in Google Search. The Accelerated Mobile Pages report lists some of these pages”.

See this screenshot: https://ibb.co/btgyLx

And this is AMP test and Google shows this error: https://ibb.co/m5Wtnc

In “Accelerated Mobile Pages > Invalid CSS stylesheet (Critical issue)” it says:

“Fix your stylesheet errors to conform to AMP standards. AMP pages with invalid CSS stylesheets may appear in Google search results without AMP-specific display features.”

This is my site: https://www.tufitech.com

It’s seems like you guys placed “!important” property in AMP CSS, which is apparently not allowed for AMP. What is going on? Please help!

Thank you!

Hi… I usually update newspaper theme via wordpress and I don’t have any problem about losing customization. If you are try to update via wordpress, I recomend to change folder name first ex: newspaper87 to advoid existing theme from previous.

But please back up your data before updating to make sure everything safe.

thanks for your reply.

i’m confused about the losing the customisatiosn bit. In the “how to update your theme” instructions they make no mention at all of anything that looks like the info in the article on the wpbeginner website regarding the rentention of customisations.

So, i guess my question is this. If i just follow the instructions on the “how to update” page, am i going to have re-do the whole layout of my website from scratch and all the theme stuff such as adsense and lots of other things?

That is just way to many steps to upgrade a theme, especially one that we’ve paid for. I’ve never had a problem with Newspaper updates before in over 4 years so I’ve been patient with this mess, but they really need to beta test the heck of the next one before I just update like I normally did.

See these guides 1. https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ 2. https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ 3. https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Option 3 is the best and more recommended option for updating the theme to ensure everything works smoothly with no errors. It is recommended to back up your site so that if anything goes wrong, you can roll back to the previous theme. As for your question, see this http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-update-a-wordpress-theme-without-losing-customization/ (I don’t work here).

hi, im brand new to newspaper theme, purchase the other month, and this is the first time that i’ll have done an update. so i’m a little bit nervous.

i’ve a question or two.

the website advises that a number of options are available in how to updated. the two that i’ll choose between are either

1. use the envato market plugin
2. via wordpress upload

q. are either of the above preferable or both will work just fine?

the instructions for uploading to wordpress advise to deactive old version of theme, remove completely, then upload new theme and activate. then update the plugins.

q. i may be being a bit dumb here but if i do these how will the current layout of my website be remembered and not lost?

Since I can’t get the theme to update I just tried reinstalling the entire theme as a new theme. I deleted Newspaper theme from wordpress. Then I re-downloaded all the files from your website. I followed all of the directions on your website and re-installed the theme from scratch through FTP as if I were installing it for the first time.

However again it crashed the entire website. This happens whether I try to update or if I delete everything and re-install as brand new. This is the message that is displayed on my website

This page isn’t working
sleepapneaworld.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

Can you please help I am extremely frustrated with the upgrade to version 8.7 . I have never had these problems with past upgrades. Please let me know what to do. Please Help!

Hi,

My TD composer won’t load for my homepage. The page remains grey and the spinner just keeps spinning. It works fine on other pages, just not for my homepage (which is where I need to do most of the work!).

I understand this can often be caused by insufficient system resources, so I’ve checked my theme system status and updated any that were yellow, including increasing my WP Memory Limit. Everything is now green, but the problem with the TD Composer remains.

Can anyone help with this?

Much thanks.

My first go at upgrading to 8.7 was a disaster. I punted and went back to 8.6.

I then rebuilt the website up from scratch exactly the way I want without starting with a demo. I used Visual Composer as Tag Composer constantly locked my screen or would not perform. I started with a blank sheet, added rows, columns and widgets and set the loops for articles up and I was successful in creating a robust site with Slider Revolution at the top, pressed right up to the MAIN MENU, having to trick it by entering -48px for the Margin, Newsletters call to actions, Social Media interfaces and a whole lot more.

I then used DUPLICATOR, as I had done in the past, and everything was migrated without a hitch. Previously when I used DUPLICATOR and built the site up using one of the Demos, the replicated site never carried over from the original site. Building a site up from scratch apparently set everything I needed in such a way that DUPLICATING it became a snap.I did not have to do an EXPORT and then IMPORT of Theme settings.

THEN . . . having replicated the site over to another, I gave the 8.6 to 8.7.1 upgrade another try.

To upgrade Visual Composer and Tag Composer, you must first Deactivate and delete them. If you follow the sequence provided in the documentation, it states to delete the Newspaper theme first, then FTP 8.7.1 over under the Themes Folder AND THEN upgrade your plugins.

If you follow that sequence, the Admin Dashboard is completely shutdown and goes blank white. You lose all access to being able to visually do anything. I blew out the site again, and reinstalled again with DUPLICATOR.

The sequence I followed that worked was:

I deleted Visual Composer first and updated it.
I deleted Social and updated it.
I then deleted Tag Composer, updated it, then got a boat load of ever messages of incompatibility with 8.6 and the Social Counter.
I then blew out the old Newspaper theme and replaced it with 8.7.1.

Then and only then did everything work flawlessly.

I installed the AMP plugin expecting a robust configuration tool. The only thing I was able to do was set some colors. Have I completely missed something? I was using AMP for WP and it allowed me to set an image in the header. the only reason I migrated to 8.7.1 was that I thought I would get some robust AMP configuration capability. AMP for WordPress was selling a NEWSPAPER compatible Theme for AMP but I thought with TagDiv I would get a more bug free, robust integration.

Documentation really is very thin. The tutorial on AMP was thin and I struggled to find out if I just needed to drop the Analytics code in or drop in actual code as described in the pop up help on the Theme Panel. I finally just dropped the Analytics code, brought up Google Analytics Dashboard and tested and it worked.

I could not find any specific documentation on the Multi Purpose Plugin. I installed it, played around with settings, and notice no difference on the site, so I deleted it.

The Newsletter Plugin – I have not been able to find any documentation on this at all. I have previously installed Holler Box and it meets my needs, so I deleted this plugin as well.

SO . . . . I AM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I GAINED BY UPGRADING TO 8.7.1.

As I read I am finding TagDiv is stating there are bugs with AMP and there will be an emergency patch. I have no idea what those bugs are. I am getting results on the Google Dashboard.

My issue is the AMP Post has no customization. What am I missing? Do I create a template? Do I need to Reinstall AMP fo WP so I can have a logo in the Header? I thought the whole point of Upgrading to 8.7.1 was so that AMP was fully supported.

Hi All,

I just updated my theme version to use the AMP plugin.

I’ve turned the plugin on, fetched the website again on Google Console, but Google says there is an AMP error.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this? The whole reason I did the update was for SEO.

It seems that the log is not long enough to show full message, or the option it want to save is too long?

This usually happens and sometimes it updates successfully…

Hi,

I recently updated my theme. The popular categories in the footer have now all bunched up, opposed to the vertical list they were in prior to the update.

My site is: https://thefullnineyards.com

And you’ll see the issue if you scroll to the footer and look on the right-hand side.

Let me know what I can do to correct this.

Thanks,
Charlie

Hello vincentbelaws,

Please update the theme to the latest version of it and check the Theme panel -> Sharing section from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/2zkDD4DhHkT

Thanks.

Hi,

1. You can download the theme once and use it for both installs, there will be no problem. The same package is provided.

2. You should download the full package, this will contain all the plugins (both required and optional) child theme etc
https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
The latest theme version is 8.7.1.

The most recommended method of updating is by FTP upload
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
After updating check if the tagDiv composer and multi-purpose plugins have been updated automatically. The composer should be version 2.1 and the multi-purpose plugin 2.0
https://www.screencast.com/t/qUQ9uTJkd

Let us know if you have problems. In the following week there will be a theme update released which will fix some issues that are currently happening for some users.

Thanks

Hi,

That issue was solved in theme version 8.7.1, there was indeed a problem in 8.7 when the social counter will not appear in Visual composer unless the tagDiv composer was active. However now it is fixed, update the theme and there should be no problem.

Thanks

Hi,

Those sections were removed in the current theme version. There are plans to change the functionality and how widgets are used in the theme, in the coming updates. I could not say exactly what options will be available in the future, but it will be an improvement.

Thank you!

Sorry Bodgan.

I check the documentation but trying to update from “8.2” –> “8.7.1” i do not find any differences in the Child folder downloaded from themeforest.

The files are 3:

– functions.php
– screenshot.png
– style.css

These 3 files are the same that i have find in the child folder of 8.2 that download in the past.

“Child folder 8.2” and “Child folder 8.7.1” have the same files.

– functions.php
– screenshot.png
– style.css

Please can you confirm?
Thanks.

Is it a short fix? Something we can manually edit meanwhile you release an updated version of Newsmag?
