The script you mentioned is for updating from newspaper 4. you already have newspaper 6 so the script will not work for you. Unfortunately if you have customization done to the theme files, you need to re-add it in the new version as newspaper 7 is a major update and most of the files got changed. The best thing to do is keep a back-up of your modification and delete your old theme files. Install the new theme via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and then apply the customization to the new theme files. You skipped quite a few updates so there can’t be any other way around it.
Please make sure you update the plugins that come with the theme as well: visual composer, the social counter, revolution slider. These are bundled with the theme and they need updating if they are to work properly in newspaper 7.

Please notice that you have fully updated your theme through FTP according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and also, please ensure that you have updated all your required plugins to the latest version of them ->Social Counter 4.0 and Visual Composer ->4.11.2, clear all your caches and test it again. Also, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.

Unfortunately i cannot access your site so I cannot say for sure what is wrong. Please disable all plugins excepot visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. I suppose that you are using the latest version of WordPress 4.5.2 and an older version than 4.11.2 for Visual Composer, right? So, please notice that the latest version of WordPress ‘break’ the Visual Composer and this issue was fixed in 4.11.2. So, if you are using the Newspaper 6.6.1, you should try to update to the latest version of the theme (Newspaper 7.0.1) via FTP because this is the surest method for updating. Also, please notice that each version of the theme has it own version of Visual Composer which are fully compatible with it. If you do not want to make an update to the latest version of it, you will have to downgrade your WordPress and Visual Composer plugin to an older version of them. I suggest you doing a full backup to your data and then you should update your theme to the latest version, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

I tried everything. Reinstalled plugins, clear cache from WP Super Cache and also from Cloudflare. Since I updated to last version of the theme the FB counter is stuck at 0.

Please notice that the widget was worked before and on the Chrome browser, but now it seems that it was got rid the localization for Chrome 50 version. We will investigate it deeper this cause and we will try to find another alternative in this regard in near future updates.

How do I update the Newspaper theme?
I’ve been running Newspaper for a while.
Obviously, I have a lot of configuration and customization I don’t want to lose.
I want to update the theme to the latest (I think I am on V 6.3.2.
How can I safely update the theme without messing up my current site?
I see text in the Newspaper theme that says:
“To update from version 4 please run this update script. Note: please backup your site before updating!”
But if I click the “update script” it pops up a warning that tells me it will mess things up:
“Are you sure? Please backup your site before running the update script!
WARNING: THIS IMPORT SCRIPT WILL CHANGE YOUR SIDEBARS, WIDGETS, TEMPLATES ON PAGEs, TEMPLATES On POSTS AND SHORTCODES

Today I made an update from version 6 to version 7 Newspaper, before update, block 15 shows well (see http://72.52.135.40/~reporte1/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/screenshot-1.png) three columns, after update, block 15 does not show three columns, only two (see http://72.52.135.40/~reporte1/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/screenshot-2.png).
How can I fix this?

How did you get VC working again? I’m running 6.6.1 Newspaper Theme and I keep getting a spinning wheel when I use Visual Composer. I’m going to do an update soon, but wondered what you did to fix.

I’m running 6.6.1 and when I go to edit the homepage using Visual Composer, it just spins and spins when I try to load the backend editor view. I can see ‘classic code view’, but I need the visual editor to make my changes. This is what happens:
Is there a fix for this? If I don’t want to update my entire theme to 7.0, can I just take the Visual Composer zipped file and update my current version of Visual Composer? Will that hurt my 6.6.1 theme?

I’m having same issue, updated WordPress, Newspaper 7.0.1 and Visual Composer 4.11.2.
All fields of social counter filled properly, but every item listed says O fan (and I’ve more than 33.000 followers on facebook).
Just Youtube channel reports the right number of followers, but Facebook, Instagram and Twitter doesn’t.
I am unable to find the Revolution slider in Newspaper 7. I have looked in Newspaper-tf\demo_sliders folder. I’ve looked in Newspaper/includes/plugins and many other places and I cannot find it.
My images are not working correctly, so it appears that I will need to update this plugin.

Hi, thanks I have updated the visual composer and pictures are back The only thing is that the “post loop settings” are only showing one column of the lastest posts. Previously it was showing as a two column. I am using M7 layout. Here’s my site. http://darkstarastrology.com/
Also my comments have gone weird but I’m guessing it that something to do with disabling plugins.
Please tell me why this is happening still. I have tried restoring from a back up and nothing is working. The images will still not load!

I found the error,
I was updateding the changes, by my cellphone, so when I’ve pressed the save button, that update was not sent due to the quality of my connection, the problem was solved.

After WordPress updated at V 4.5 there appeared a jQuery conflict in our theme, also older version of VC won’t work with it. We fixed this conflict and the current theme version available on themeforest works fine, also we included last version of Visual Composer plugin.
Try to update the theme at current version available on themeforest, also update Visual Composer at V 4.11.2 following our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ deactivate all other plugins, clear all caches and test again.
