I am not sure that this issue is related with the host provider, so lease make sure you follow the steps indicated in our documentation regarding the VC installation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ deactivate all others plugins, clear all caches and test again.

Unfortunately there is no PHP box you can add code to. You can only edit the core files directly or with a child theme. The child theme is the safest way as you do not modify the file directly. But even if you do not use a child theme and modify the main file, you can always keep a back-up of these files if something goes wrong and simply copy them over the modified ones. (just be careful when updating the theme, look out for files that get modified in the changelog so you can adjust the modifications in the updated files as well)

I cant figure out how to remove them. They suddenly appeared when I updates the theme.

Unfortunately there is no update option for the child theme. You will have to recreate it unfortunately, especially if you update from version 4 to version 6 of the theme. What we recommend to do if a child theme is used is to do a back-up of it (version 6 and up) and check to see which files were changed in the update. You will need to copy those files again and reapply your customization to the new file. The child theme cannot get updated as we have no control over what gets modified so we cannot create an update script for it.
If you have version 4 of the theme now, you will have to create a new child theme for version 6 as ALL the files were changed in this version.

Newspaper 6 is a whole new theme so an update from 4 to 6 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible).
Always make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings.
The shortcodes have been changed so old ones will not work anymore. Please note that old files customization or custom css will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust or re-add them.
Bottom line is that newspaper 6 is a whole new theme built from scratch.
Unfortunately you will have to clear your agenda and spare a bit of time to adjust all your settings to the new version of the theme.

Update on my Question2: I was able to find where to control the ajax menu. I still have issue. When I choose specific category ID to display, it only displays if my category ID is single digit. I input category ID 3,4,11,14 only 3 and 4 shows up. 11 and 14 will not show up. Even I tried to just have 11 or only 14 still no display.

Pretty much at the end of my wits on this issue. I’m using Newspaper 6.5.1 & W3TC, which I’ve said before I hate but have since moved to a managed VPS that is built to use it for APC and Varnish.
The problem I’m getting is encoded pages being served from the page cache module, regardless of what other modules are or are not enabled. If I change themes to something from a different developer, the problem goes away. The W3TC plugin FAQ on WP.org addresses this and says it’s due to the use of php_flush() or the function flush() by the theme, but I’m not seeing that in the header, index, or footer files though it’s entirely possible that one of those calls is in a deeper file.
Here’s what it looks like:
This has been an on-going issue for me since about July of last year (I’ve kept Newspaper up to date within a few days of every update) and has remained consistent across two hosts (one cloud shared and one VPS). At the time this started W3TC was the recommended caching plugin for theme and even though that recommendation has changed, it’s not because the plugin breaks the theme. I can’t figure out what’s going on.
The host has looked into it with no luck. The W3TC support team doesn’t exist. And I’m not seeing the flush methods called from the theme to answer the documentation’s claimed cause of the problem.
Any ideas? I’m at a loss now. I’ve got a beautiful varnish/memcached/apache/nginx setup going to waste because of this and it’s starting the impede growth of the site.

I want to update the theme from 4.3 to the latest version 6.x
Wordpress has been updated.
I did the theme alone and Visual Composer broke. Front page was totally wrecked.
What steps would you suggest to upgrade the theme and visual composer with a chance of not breaking my front page layout?
Is it possible that I’m going to have to rebuild the entire front page in the new Visual Composer?

In a future update it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. Until we can do it, you can use this plugin: http://screencast.com/t/WAwCVlAnM5L. I ran a few tests with it and it seems to work fine. Just one thing. If you use it, make sure to set the background color from the theme panel to transparent or the video will not show up as it will be covered by the white background color: http://screencast.com/t/ojPahlaSw

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, I thought it might be some kind of caching problem, but why does it only affect my site with Newspaper and not my other site which has a different theme? My other site updates instantly on the same PC.

I have been asked to alter the theme style of all of my blog posts as the style i have been using for all my posts has caused a conflict with googles adsense policy. Is there a quick way for me to change the theme of all posts at once or am i going to have to go to each post one at a time and update the style?
I have explicitly selected the style for all posts, so changing the default one isnt going to have any affect on all of the posts.
I have strong knowledge of PHP so i can write a script to do it if there is no easier way around it. I just need to know what i need to update.
Yes, that is what it was. I had the api plugin installed but that block was there and when I removed the plugin it was gone. I did not need the api plugin because I am not going to be creating new blocks. I tried the creating stuff with Visual Composer builder and thought it was confusing to me. So I am sticking with just what you guys offer in the updates. I like new features to play with but if I have to spend hours off and on to figure out something, to me it is a lot of time consuming. So I gave up on it.
What I was thinking of doing with the builder was creating a carousel for posts that shows like 4 images of posts and has left and right arrows and every certain time limit it rotates to the left every 4 of the images if you set like 8, 12 and up images and just continues rotating. Nothing in Visual Composer or in theme has that. The carousel in theme is just posts with excerpt and read more button and I don’t want that kind of carousel.
I am going to not worry about this either. Thanks anyways.

We cannot say for sure when the new update will come out. We will implement the new version of visual composer in the near future but unfortunately we have no release date yet. It is hard to say what the future will bring and it is still to early to make assumptions.

Hi. I’m at the beginning stages of designing my website (as I am doing too many things as once), but I have the Newspaper 6 theme loaded with the default demo and the fake content. I have a small number of my own posts on the site.
When I have made updates to the page, it does not refresh to show the updates for at least 2 hours (but less than 24 hours) after I have made the change. I can go to my (Android) tablet and refresh and see the changes there straight away, but still the change does not show on my PC. I have tried closing my browser and reopening it, but this does not resolve it (and anyway, I don’t want to have to keep doing this).
I have Chrome as my browser. I have not had this issue before, with the default theme or with a different theme on another site.
Any suggestions on how to fix this please?

What happened to the block 77? I could of sworn there was like a special block called 77 and it is gone since the new update v2.2.1 or sooner. I just realized it isn’t there anymore. I used it once before. No worries. Was just wondering.

I am another “Frank” but I am experiencing similar problems.
I had VC (full license) installed at my site prior to purchasing Newspaper 6.
We have installed according to the manual (https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/)
We tried several times.
We are constantly having a persistant error message in our dashboard (“Important notice: You have an outdated version of Visual Composer Design Options. It is required to review and save it.”) that we can not get rid of and we are lacking a good number of elements (http://screencast.com/t/B2ExxHCzXQye) from VC. We are missig everything in that screensho after “Masonry Media Grid” (see here: abload.de/img/vctes4b.jpg )
We also tried turning everything off and on again – didn’t help.
For us Visual Composer is only offering the same four Dashboard-options as Frank showed in his screenshot above.
Any ideas?

By pure randum luck while reactivating plugins I hit (in dashboard) “Visual Composer” -> “Settings” and in there by a stroke of sheer luck I accidentaly clicked “user group access rights” -> “Administrator” and guess what? Almost all Newspaper-related items were disabled…
For the persistant Error-Message: that one is still there.
I strpngly suggest adding this to the knowledge-base to check there
