Hi,
Yes, unfortunately, the changes that take place in the theme files are lost when the theme is updated.
It is recommended that these be done using a child theme so that these changes are not affected by the update – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-child-theme-support/
Thank you!
Hi,
One of the developers will investigate this problem, I hope it will be solved in the next update.
Thank you!
Hello Anamaria
The programmer, who made the main starting work on this page, tells me, that we can not update the Theme, because we will lose coding.
Could you please tell me or send me a link, where and how I have to place my special codes for your Theme, that I can safely update it anytime a update happend.
Thank you very much
Maik
Hi Calin,
Our team have did some of the suggestions and also did a bit more of other things to improve the speed. I want to ask about the theme update whether it will affect any of our edited codes which are mostly inside ‘legacy’ folder? Our team updated quite numbers of the codes to suit our needs.
Please advise soon.
Regards,
Frans
Hi,
The error is not from the theme. Please let me know what version of the theme and WordPress you have, also, php.
If you don’t have the latest version WP 6.2.2 and theme 12.4, then please update them on a staging website, and try there.
Did you made changes to the theme files?
Thank you!
Hi,
To have access to the modules, you need to update the theme to the latest version 12.4.
Please do a full backup to all files and databases, before updating.
Thank you!
Hi,
we have again the same issue after last update. The Private Account is still connected and not expired, but the Instagram gallery is not shown.
Instead, there is an error: Block Render Failed – Tried accessing nonexisting field (comments_count) on node type (Media)
Best regards, Daniel
Hi
I’ve received a notification that the Slider Revolution Plugin has a high security risk which is patched in the latest version.
However, the plugin version that the Newspaper Theme uses is very old and contains the security risk. Only the theme developers can update the plugin as it’s integral to the theme.
Can you please advise as I’m concerned that the plugin is so old and insecure. Thanks
Here is the info on the plugin:
The Slider Revolution plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in versions up to, and including, 6.6.12. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with administrator-level attackers to upload arbitrary files on the affected site’s server which may make remote code execution possible.
Sure, please see the below video that show the screen bouncing to the bottom when clicking into some of the fields, this is happening on multiple computers and a phone:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HmPhCinwne7vSY0mFOfMvVzyoRphfc-V/view
website is:
I believe it started happening after the most recent theme update.
WP Current version: 6.2.2
Newspaper Current version: Version: 12.4
Thank you,
Dan
Hi,
I checked the site and what I could recommend would be to make a backup of the site and then update to the latest version of the theme.
Other suggestions, I saw that you have set images and banners on the site, and they did not specify the width and height – https://i.imgur.com/Pjsy8jx.png – https://web.dev/optimize-cls/?utm_source=lighthouse&utm_medium=lr#images-without-d , most of the images do not have an alt – https://i.imgur.com/zcXQmMb.png, solving the problems with the images should also improve the performance of the site.
Also, for images you can use EWWW Image Optimizer, Smush, or Imagify.
Another suggestion would be to do a test with php v8.1 and see if it helps.
I hope these suggestions help you, and after you try them we can re-check the site and see what can be improved.
Thank you!
Hi Prateek,
Indeed, I did the tests as you suggested and this problem appears. I have informed the developers and this problem will be solved for the next update.
Thank you for letting us know about those problems.
Have a nice day!
Hi chrisfoxatx,
1. For the size of the images you have, you have perfectly selected the thumbs to use – https://i.imgur.com/UM6OgFa.png They work like this after they are activated in the theme panel, these thumbs are created for each image that is loaded in the media, now the problem is with the ones that are already loaded, for these, you have to use a regeneration plugin that should resolve the problem with the retina resolution.
Normally when you select that thumb, for example, 696×0, the thumb with the size 696xauto and retina size will be used instead of the original image.
2. You should use the retina option for all 3 sizes of thumbs you use, this way you will get the best result on both windows and retina (don’t forget to regenerate the images if these options were not selected from the beginning, i.e. before adding the images to the media, and when regenerating select delete all thumbs and regenerate new ones).
3. When you edit the flex element with tagDiv Composer you have the option to select the size of the thumb, as a suggestion I recommended using a middle size because it cannot be adjusted per viewport, it can only be changed if you use the mobile page template.
Also, if the retina thumb is selected in the theme panel and the image has been regenerated, when you select, for example, the 696×0 thumb on windows, the retina thumb corresponding to the 696×0 thumb will be automatically used when a retina device is used.
4. Unfortunately here I can not suggest the best of all with the theme, but a plugin that is ok with the theme is EWWW Image Optimizer , but I have seen many users who also use Smush and Imagify.
I hope this will help you!
Thank you!
Hi,
Please activate the tagDiv Standard pack plugin after update.
Thank you!
Hey Friends. Rolled back to pre-12.4 and all well. I will give this a little time and then re-apply the update at a future date 🙂
Hey Friends,
Our Newspaper theme just went sideways. No updates made. Just reverted to some kind of basic layout, blocks showing all code, and posts delivering the error:
“wp_booster error: td_api_base::mark_used_on_page : a component with the ID: single_template_10 is not set.
/home/customer/www/thevalley.life/public_html/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/common/wp_booster/td_api.php”
Any ideas what is going on?
I deleted the mobile home page . All of the pages are now not matching the desktop and tablet views. I don’t understand why my desktop and tablet is updated but mobile view will not update.
I’m unable to update the mobile header for various pages on my site. The mobile home page looks correct and all other pages should look like the mobile home page. I’m having trouble updating the following pages with the goal of getting them to look like the mobile home page : nba slam dunk pick of the day, news , rumors, controversy.
my url is http://www.NbaStreetBets.com
This has also been happening with our Instagram footer; same exact error.
No changes were made in our side and it suddenly stopped working.
After updating WordPress and Newspaper theme the problem persisted. I’d bet this is a change on Instagram’s side that requires a new update for the theme.
Hello!
We have 3 options for mobile versions that you can use:
1. Responsive version: A responsive version of your website looks similar to the desktop version. TagDiv Composer is used to edit the page.Click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB. There, you can see your mobile version and edit or adjust the elements to look better.
2. Mobile pages: https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages
3. Mobile theme plugin: The Mobile Theme is a performance-optimized theme included in the main Newspaper theme that only loads on mobile devices. It comes with its own templates and designs for pages, posts, categories, etc., so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. Please see https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ and https://forum.tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-introduction/ for more information.
A full explanation is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY
If you need to use the mobile version 1 or 2, then you need to disable the Mobile Theme plugin.
If you want to keep the mobile theme plugin, then you should choose the menu from here: https://prnt.sc/qOxOPNs-wZhj
Thank you!
Hi,
Using our theme you can choose from 3 mobile versions
-> mobile responsive => https://www.screencast.com/t/oJ2ShOp47
-> mobile theme plugin => https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
-> mobile page => https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/
If you created the mobile pages with tagDiv Composer, then when you install the Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin (the mobile theme comes with its templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout, the page content is made without builders in mobile editor => https://www.screencast.com/t/xbgZG8kH also, the options that are provided to edit the mobile theme version are limited (this keeps the things simple)).
This is a video about Responsive Newspaper Theme, AMP & Mobile Theme, Mobile Pages & Templates -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY
So, the mobile responsive is what you see then that you select the viewport on phone => https://www.screencast.com/t/matV17hH, so some settings may apply for each viewport(where is the border blue), and others are not(where the border is black).
The mobile page has the mobile templates from Cloud Library => https://www.screencast.com/t/YCcZ8rL8
Mobile responsive version of the theme and the mobile page editor can be edit with tagDiv Composer, the mobile theme plugin not.
For example, you can have the mobile theme plugin activate and use the mobile page/mobile responsive version for the homepage/pages, but for the categories pages/404 page you can’t use the mobile page/mobile responsive version if you have the mobile theme plugin activate.
So, if you want to design the pages with tagDiv Composer, you can use the mobile page or mobile responsive version.
Thank you!
Hello @danapradana49!
You should click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB and place the ads also in the mobile header.

Hello Chris!
There is a workaround for that. Please follow the steps:
1. Install the ACF plugin.
2. Build a field with these settings applied: https://prnt.sc/QtZ0TXke3f-N (Save changes)
3. Use Gutenberg to edit a post/article, then upload your pdf file from Media Library in the field you created. (Update post)
4. Edit the post’s template and add a button with these settings applied: https://prnt.sc/dZW5xvbzU3kK (Save changes)
5. View the post/article and click on the button. It will lead to your pdf file, from where you can download it.
I hope that helps you!
Thank you!
Hi,
Maybe when you updated, one of the extra plugins interfered with the update process, and then some plugins were no longer installed.
Thank you!
Hi there, my website looks different after this current update to 12.4 (especially the header and the footer). Previously the look maintained with each update, but this time it is different. Able to help?
