You need to have the latest version to have those options.
If you want to update the theme, you should download the latest version of it from Theme Forest account and download it.
Please make a full backup to all files and database => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAJXrSI-dDA
Here you can find information about the changes that have occurred in each update over time https://tagdiv.com/newspaper/
I recommend that you update the theme manually https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ via FTP/cPanel/File Manager, also if possible disable extra plugins during the theme update to avoid any problems that may arise and make sure that you have activated the tagDiv Standard pack plugin to keep the website’s look. You can try to update the theme on a staging website.
After you update the theme, you need to update the theme plugins too.
In the worst cases, the settings in the theme panel may be lost (there have been isolated cases), in these cases, after the theme plugins that were previously used are activated, you will have to use a backup for the theme panel -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/

once I removed entirely the line from

It’s been a couple of days since the site crashes when tagDiv Composer is activated. Now all the plugins are deactivated as well as Div Composer.
As you understand without it the theme is useless. Before it was working fine, but now is generating many php jobs overloading the process. The site is http://www.nonewsmagazine.com

I checked and seems there are some issues with the smart list that uses next and prev, and also, with the ads on the latest version of WP and the theme

Hi, every time I update the theme using the wordpress admin portal the shortcodes don’t display correctly and you see the actual shortcode on the end user site. I was able to manually update the theme, which helped resolve that issue. However, I’m having the following issues now:
1. The widgets under Appearance–>Widgets in the admin panel aren’t showing up

On our homepage, we have content blocks on the left side going down.
The main content block (sorted by featured categroy) is working great.
The “MORE LOCAL NEWS” content block is working great.
However, the other blocks are not showing the latest stories/posts. When I go into edit the page, they show correctly and then when I hit “save” they don’t show the most recent ones.
Look at Entertainment category in the edit page:

Basically, many of the content blocks on the homepage are showing old content and not the latest posts as selected in the edit page. Any help?

How do I get the most recent stories/posts to show up on the homepage – all my settings are correct and I cleared all the site cache. What’s wrong?

Site loading issues
Here are notes on site check. Site seems to be displaying fatal error message on first load but after refreshing once or twice it is ok except for main menu blog and newsletter areas.
I tried firefox and google chrome browsers and my history clearances were basic, not advanced.

Solution : Update the WordPress tagDiv Composer plugin to the latest available version (at least 4.0).
Details: Truoc Phan discovered and reported this Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in WordPress tagDiv Composer Plugin. This could allow a malicious actor to inject malicious scripts, such as redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into your website which will be executed when guests visit your site. This vulnerability has been fixed in version 4.0.
The tagDiv Composer module must be updated to avoid wordpress hacks. Could you give us a feedback on this point. THANKS.

Hello!
The child theme is not overwritten by the update. An issue for that could be the compatibility of your child theme with the new version of our theme(if you use some files which were updated). If you’ll have some custom modifications directly in the theme files, then better save the code and replace it after the update.
Please note that the customization(code) will require custom work which is not covered by the support team.

Hey thanks for your answer but the problem is not just about saving. Smart list doesn’t update the ads when i add them. Which version of wp should i use btw?

After reistalling theme plugins and recover the theme settings, all came to normal.
Fortunatelly the website is not still public, otherwise it would be complicated.
I made the theme update using the envato plugin. If is there some plugin conflit, I can’t know.

The update stopped it from working. I can go back to previous version of NewsPaper theme and they work.
When I check my update page there is no update but I have a security plugin that warns me about plugins and there is one for tagdiv : here
What more information do you need? I’m unable to update content in any text modules. If adding a new module, the content entry field will stay blank even if you type into it. If trying to update an old module, when I click the settings the content area is blank. If I type and save over it, the text does not update.
