Every time I preview a blog post I’m writing, the view counter updates. I want to know how to set this number back to 0 when I publish the post.
I searched through the forum and saw this post: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/view-count-increases-with-every-page-refresh/. It had a screencast: https://www.screencast.com/t/VExEOofHkjM
That screencast shows a custom field box at the bottom of the post settings. I don’t have that box. The last thing on my post settings is “Via Url”.
How do I reset the post view count before I publish?
Thanks,
Stacey
Hello !
The message you get is quite common with WordPress. In most cases it can be easily fixed.
For example – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-link-you-followed-has-expired/
In that case the max upload size was limited, increasing it solved the problem. Usually this is the main cause.
Check this guide carefully and make modifications if needed
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If everything is set properly there should be no problem. Contact your hosting provider if needed and ask them to make changes as the guide suggests.
You can also install the theme by FTP, that is not difficult to do and it’s very useful to know how to use FTP. If our guide is not detailed enough check some more online
– https://dappercodes.com/installing-wordpress-theme-via-ftp/
– https://docs.presscustomizr.com/article/141-how-to-manually-install-or-update-a-wordpress-theme
– https://www.shoutmeloud.com/install-wordpress-theme.html
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you !
Hello !
You can take a look in this topic since this “issue” has been figured out: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/mobile-theme-categories-are-the-same/ Or you can wait till our next update since this will be an option from then on!
I hope this helped you !
Thank you !
Hi,
The cache is usually cleared when a new page or post is published, so the content remains fresh. Or when comments are made for a post or page.
For me it says updated 14 hours ago in the sidebar – http://prntscr.com/oav0yc
It is true that caching can cause such issues. You could clear the cache each time you update the widgets (if this is done manually), but this would be somewhat inconvenient.
You could try what is suggested in the advanced panel of the super cache plugin
– http://prntscr.com/oavani
Then check the same way to see if the situation improves.
Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately there is no setting for this in our theme, this can be achieve only making change in theme core.
You could try this solution
-> https://www.screencast.com/t/nhov88jSu you need to set this code in each module where you want to have the subtitle with link on int to the post.
You can get the code from here ; but notice that you need to make those changes after each update, because since Newspaper v9.7 the child theme is working only for the functions.php and style.css files.
We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
There is a problem with general modal image in theme panel, please make sure that you deactivate it -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Nx6YmhF0 and set the modal image directly on images; documentation ->https://forum.tagdiv.com/modal-window/ this problem will be fix for the coming update.
Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the inconvenience!
Hello,
If I understand correctly, you want to know if you can activate the mobile theme only on some selected posts/pages for achieve speed and for few posts/pages of theme to use the responsive version of the theme, unfortunately for the moment our theme do not have this option, maybe this will be include in our theme in the coming updates.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please provide some more details and some screenshots with the problem you are facing when you are trying to activate the theme on Newspaper v9.7.3
Also if you activate the theme you can make a theme update and the activation key should be available on the last version too -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
If there is still a problem, just let me know!
Thank you!
If you want to try the template I mentioned above, all you have to do is to edit the page and select it, then save/update the page.
It can be set either in the backend of the page – http://prntscr.com/oau7fx
Or while editing it with the composer – http://prntscr.com/oau7qv
The result after applying the page template will be something like this
– http://prntscr.com/oau7zn
In case I misunderstand what you want to do, or you have more questions, let me know.
Hi,
Note that the 9.7 update was a major update, it consists of modifications to the theme file structure, most of the files are now in the tagDiv composer plugin. Here is an article about the changes made and why they were made – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
The loop single files are now here – http://prntscr.com/oau433 and the page templates here
– http://prntscr.com/oau4p0
Modifying these files in a child theme will not work anymore unfortunately.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
I have the site http://www.snowsbest.com and we have a weather snow forecast widget on the site in the sidebar. We also have it set up on 15 individual pages for 7 day detailed forecasts – example here: Snowsbest.com/snow-forecast/thredbo
We update the forecasts automatically ever 12 hours at 3.00am and 3.00pm. The widget then will say “last updated x of hours ago”.
The issue I have is that when I am logged in to the backend of my Newspaper theme WP site I can see that the widgets have all updated in sidebar and on the pages and it will say however many hours it was last updated (up to 12 hours).
HOWEVER when I open a private window or am logged out of the site or am on a mobile device the widget is not always updating and often says “updated 1 day ago” or “updated 18 hours ago” when all updates are made every 12 hours.
This is a problem as my site is regularly visited by people looking for updated snow forecasts.
I have WP Super Cache installed and wonder how to fix those settings if they are wrong? Do I need a different cache for dynamic content?
Any help would be appreciated, I have been asking two developers and they have not been able to come up with a solution.
Rachael
HI Guys,
Since updating none of the ACF fields are displaying on the front end, the changes were made in my child theme to pages.php and loop-single.php.
Now I’ve updated I need to know where I can re-add the code?
David
Please could you enable in the next update the option to show modified date in the actual post, rather than using the cloud template.
Hi,
Thank you for the kind words, we will try to help as much as possible.
1. There is an explanation for this. Is there a general background set in the theme panel?
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/background-introduction/
If a background color or image is set in the theme panel, the website will be boxed, in order to display the background. Please check if that is the case. Removing the background will allow full width grids and other wider elements.
2. Maybe the mobile theme plugin is active – https://tagdiv.com/mobile-theme-automatic-optimization-for-mobile-newspaper-theme/
When the plugin is active, the mobile pages, posts, etc will be different from desktop. However this plugin is optional, if you want the same content from desktop on mobile you can disable it.
I should mention that in coming updates there will be an option to choose for which pages or posts you want the mobile theme to be active.
3. Using the clear option on a row will only remove it’s content. If you want to remove a row you can click and drag it to the right corner – https://www.screencast.com/t/LocGydRWO
or click on it and hit the delete key on the keyboard.
If you have more questions let me know.
Thanks
Hi,
Currently there is an issue like the one you mention, the post templates don’t apply properly when the child theme is active. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme for the time being. This problem will be fixed for the next theme update.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Hi,
Indeed the menu in mobile version is not working on post and you get some errors in console -> https://www.screencast.com/t/koEbs3qZrFI
Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all plugins and child theme ( if you are using ) and let only the tagDiv Composer , clear all cache, deactivate the cache plugin and try again.
Here are some resources I found online, maybe they are helpful

Hi,
For the moment there are no option in our theme to sort the posts display in the mobile theme plugin, maybe this will be include in coming updates.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi there,
Today I updated the theme to latest but the settings are not working anymore for Single post pages. My settings for the post template is:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eCjpXh7zLwq4xkF4HJb47J8pQM5CMxqY/view?usp=sharing
and it was doing fine before the update but after the update, it is showing default style of the template(full featured image, it is supposed to shoe left aligned).

Please help ASAP.
Hi,
I am using a plugin to show a reading progress bar and a time commitment counter (how long it will take to read an article). The time commitment counter has to be put in as a shortcode and I must say that it is very hard to place one. I am using “Column text” as it is the only option to make it work (HTML or other modules just convert the shortcode into regular text), however the shortcode won’t get updated. Because of this, the shortcode is stuck on a fixed time. I am using the same plugin on another website and it just works fine. Is there any way to fix this?
Hi,
That page seems to be built with WPBakery from what I can see. I have seen the issue in a few other cases, it happens after updating the WPBakery plugin to 6.0.3.
We recommend to not update WPBakery when using a premium version (purchased plugin) and use the currently included version in the theme package – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
The current version of WPBakery included in the theme package is 6.0.2, this should work fine. So if possible revert to 6.0.2 and there should be no problem.
Thanks
Hello!
We found that some templates created before the theme update do not work properly (and there are notices that they were not created with TagDiv composer). I’ve sent you a letter with details.
Can you please have a look?
Thank you!

Magna Mane.
That is not possible, the menu that is displayed inside the menu modal is the header main menu – http://prntscr.com/oaeely
I forgot to mention that there is currently an issue with the sub-menu arrows not appearing on responsive mobile, please enter this code as well to make theme visible
– http://prntscr.com/oaefia
The issue will be permanently solved in the next update. here is the code
.td-mobile-content .td-icon-menu-right {
display: inline-block;
}
If you should consider using a cloud header template, then it would be possible to set any menu you want on mobile – http://prntscr.com/oaegxz regardless of the menus you use on desktop.
These are cloud header templates designed by us – https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Headers which can be imported and customized. You can also create templates from blank
– http://prntscr.com/oaei2m
If you have more questions let us know.
Thanks
Hi,
1. That doesn’t have a font setting in the theme panel, if you want to modify the description font in the default author page template, it could be dome with some CSS
– http://prntscr.com/oadqzr
If you need help with it let me know. Here is the code used in the emxample
.author .author-box-wrap .desc {
font-size: 15px;
}
2. I see the mobile theme is active, you could do that with some CSS as well, for example
– http://prntscr.com/oadtrt
.wp-block-image figcaption {
font-size: 15px;
line-height: 26px;
}
The mobile theme has a dedicated custom CSS section, so the codes entered there will apply only to it – http://prntscr.com/oaduv3
If you need help with it let me know. I should note that in coming updates the mobile theme (which currently does not have any font settings) will receive font settings in the theme panel.
3. That is not actually Helvetica, this font is not being loaded. So the next font in line in the font family is loaded – http://prntscr.com/oadw1n – http://prntscr.com/oadw9k
Please edit the page with the tagDiv composer, click on the text elements and choose different fonts and colors as you want – http://prntscr.com/oadxka and they should apply properly.
Let me know.
Hi,
1)Unfortunately, the theme does not have any such an option that allows you to remove the deploy mode, sorry! Why do you want to remove these comments? These are very important for debugging and also, to know what kind of version is used for your website. Also, please note that if you will remove this section, at the next update, will appear again. If you want to make this change, you can do it from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/CfFXRpQk
2)There’s an option for it in Theme panel, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/K9RLEdbkE
Thank you!
